@ThaddeusMcSpalding no I dont off hand, but to me.... The weight of the ak mags would be a bit much that low but thats just me. Are you looking for 1 mag on the drop leg or more?
@TheAK47nut Just something to hold a few in situations where a chest rig wouldn't be desirable (hunting). I'll find one, I think it's just a matter of getting a molle platform and then adding pouches to it. Where did you get the Russian rig? It seems pretty good for my purposes (something for wrol)
I am a civilian volunteer. we are so lucky as to play an indigenous fighting force that is friendly to the US boys. Not the "Gs" but another fighting force.
man i wish i could have seen this video before my quest for an AK47 rig. how can it be there are millions of AKs but it is so hard to find a good rig for the AK?
not a fan of vests or plate carriers? I've used chest rigs, vests, and recently a plate carrier (without plates). All of them MOLLE. I like the plate carrier the best. It's by far the most comfortable to wear over time, it fits the best, and it distributes weight very well. Not to mention I have 360 degrees of MOLLE straps to place pouches where ever I need them. Plate carriers are the most expensive route, but in my opinion, they're worth it!
nice but to hot for me, and I find that most of what I carry fits well in this format. When it comes to AK mags the fild is limited but it is getting better as time goes by.
you would be shocked at how fast the ammo goes by.when I was carring just 4 30rd mags (1 gun 3 rig) even a small fire fight I ran dry. It is good training to make each shot count but when you need suppressing fire... You can live a long time with the right folks . Finding the good ones can be hard. Its just who you know and how much have you trained as to how long you live in a fire fight. Any way good luck with those zombies. ; )
I agree no way the average person is carrying 1500 rounds of 7.62x39. The ammo and mags are heavy so 7 mags would be fine. I was thinking maybe 3 mags then a drum in the backpack.
@tripmatt1 I'd most likely just be defending the homestead in an emergency, guess if I had to bug out I'd throw a few tins in the car. Beyond that I guess conservation of ammo would be a priority
way to much weight plus all the noise (it rattels) nonless you are SBF a 30rd will do fine, dont forget you need to move around with it and getting in and out of cars dont go so smooth
Soviet Lifchik Chest Rig seems like a good set up. 6 mags 4 pouches, old surpluss stuff but should work well.

U should hook the radio pouch to the front of the first aid pouch. It holds molle strapings

hsgi quick release h harnes and as far as adding things to your rig, think gurrila a lil duct tape and some 550 card can go a long way.

How do you feel about using a drum as the primary mag if shtf?
prepper1987 2 years ago
I hear people say they add too much weight. Maybe have it in a back pack as a back up.
