Well I would like to argue that both of you are wrong. Good, evil? Isn't it a subjective matter anyway? You spend a long time arguing on whether or not sephiroth is evil, when the idea of good and evil isn't written in stone. I win...
Sephiroth was pure evil, period, he was never "good."
Cloud and Vincent were also experimented on, turned into freaks, and they could have SHARED Sephiroth's power, joined with him, but they didn't. Sephiroth did what he did, because, according to the game's writers, that is what he had in him to do.
Are you implying that no truly evil people have ever existed? Vlad the Impaler? Hitler? Jeffrey Dahmer? I could go on.
And for that matter, is Sephiroth truly evil? He wasn't before the Nibelheim incident. It can be argued that Jenova is controlling him. She's inside his head. He lost his mind.
Between his father being basically Joseph Mengele, and his mother being a feminist bitch who chose her career over love, Sephiroth is pretty much evil, too evil to be real.
Vlad the Impaler, killed a lot of Germans, why did he kill them? Because they're douchebags, he killed a lot of crooked nobles too. Hitler was just psychotic due to syphilis, and Jeffrey Dahmer was a victim of psychological abuse from his bitch mother.
True enough; Dahmer should have fucking dealt with it rather than kill all those people but hey "his father, onion, his mother, garlic; how can he smell good?"
I guess my argument would be that Sephiroth wasn't evil until he encountered Jenova and lost it.
And Vlad the Impaler could have just killed them, but no. He impaled them. He actually made the stakes dull so they would suffer and not die from shock. He was also fond of genital mutilation.
And Dahmer certainly didn't just kill people. He was psychotic.
I suppose that I feel if the human mind can create someone like Sephiroth, it may be capable of becoming it in reality.
True enough so was Vincent, but Vincent actually turned good when one of the company's scientists fucked him over.
How is sephiroth evil? When he discovered his resistance to mako energy, and this is part of the game's plot, he figured that if he killed the planet, and absorbed all the energy it would use to try to heal itself,he would become a god.
Sephiroth was evil; he didn't care how many people he would kill just to gain power.
dude, also, the damage one evil person can do is just unreal; sometimes whole generations, skipping a generation, will suffer as a result of the acts of one bad person, another thing that characterizes evil people is that they ENJOY injustice. They know full well something is unfair, and they take twisted, perverse pleasure in agravating or frustrating someone.
Absolutely they deserve to be impaled on dull stakes to be given a taste of what they give others.
And Hitler wanted power, even if it meant the mass extinction of millions of Jews and others.
And I can't believe you just said that about Dahmer's victims. We have no way of knowing if they were all bad people, and I'm pretty sure most of them didn't deserve to be raped, tortured, brutally murdered, and eaten.
If you think Sephiroth is truly evil, fine, but that comment was just sick.
sorry but, when you maliciously hear girls use the word "loser," and in a culture where nice guys finish last, its hard to feel any sympathy.
a lot of whites thing actions carry no consequences, and that the spirit world isn't watching, or that it doesn't exist; one of the things Lao Tzu warns about, is that having an evil heart withdraws heaven's protection.
whether you acknowledge it or not, that's your personal problem.
I have the game and play it regularily so you can shut up. What I said was "almost" drawn. You know the bit where sephiroth picks up Jenova it looks different than other FMVs.
My favourite game of all time, the fire scene and the final battle when cloud does the omnislash are my favourite.. also when aries dies its so fucken sad
What's the music at the beginning? I checked through all 4 of the OST's and of course that seems to be the only friggin one they didn't include in the CD's.
despite being old, this game is my favourite and nothing compares it to this. ps3 and xbox 360 games just can't be compared to this game. ff7 is what put me into video games.
vader is the greatest fictional character ever..hes tragic..theres more emotion and morality..whereas sephiroth..is the greatest videogame character of the greatest videogame ever..i still wanna be both..

most of you don't get it; Sephiroth is so evil, TRULY evil, he can only exist in fiction.

Dude, Sephiroth was working for Shinra.
True enough so was Vincent, but Vincent actually turned good when one of the company's scientists fucked him over.

*sigh* I disagree, but I respect your opinion. I wasn't trying to start an argument, just a thoughtful conversation.

also, ashkenazi Jews are not the nicest people.
Hitler did the right thing, for all the wrong reasons.
stardingo747 1 year ago
Even if it meant the mass extinction of an entire human population.
you would have to be pretty much supernaturally evil to be that evil; Sephiroth can't exist in the real world.
besides American society is full of bitches and douchebags; whose to say some of Dahmer's victims didn't have it coming.

Wow, I was just trying to express my opinion and have a thoughtful discussion, but you seem intent on making this personal.
Apparently you think yourself above the rest of the world, and that justification of mass murder, torture, etc. is completely reasonable.
Well, if people get what's coming to them as you claim, I hope you enjoy your fate.
mistressrhapsodos 1 year ago
how is labeling what is obviously evil, me being above the rest of the world?
when someone does unjustified harm, its obvious, and I feel compelled to point out that Cloud and Vincent were Jenova "freaks" too.
stardingo747 1 year ago
This is stupid.
I'm done having a conversation with someone who apparently thinks the Holocaust was justified.
Sorry I ever said anything. i know I am, knowing there are people like you in the world.

I wonder what bad guy is more popular in the geek world now;
Sephiroth or Darth Vader.
I personally prefer Sephiroth; he gives you a feeling of "god I hope people like him aren't real."

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The Sephiroth scene in the fire and the Jenova scene looked much better in Crisis Core. I think they stole the ones from Advent Children...

If there is a remake, it would be interesting to watch theme classic scenes with more detail that could create a better atmosphere.

They already did reshow some of these classic scenes in Advent Children with better graphics. Guess what? They weren't as good as the original.
