Nope, pretty much all Nazi party members agreed with the final solution, they were their when Himmler read out the document and agreed to it etc .Albert Speer, the armament minister, for example, said that the houses that concentration camp victims were kept in, were to 'Luxurious'. - Everyone in the Nazi Party (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions) either supported it, or didn't care, because they were bastards.
@Nipenthis I'm afraid in this age of instantaneous information and global media, nobody really has an excuse for being unaware about anything, but I suppose you are right considering how much the news brushes things aside in favour of absolute inanities. The news of an African genocide with casualties mounting in the millions will be scrolling in tiny letters across the the bottom of a television screen while the programs are all dominated for weeks by the story of a celebrity infidelity scandal
@Nipenthis I fear one of the symptoms of being a child of modern Western "civilization" is a crushing apathy (among many people, at least) whenever a historical catatrophe such as this one manifests itself in the present, and the world can only change the channel and hope it goes away.
What can one make of the people who, even today, look back upon atrocities committed upon the defenseless with such pride? (Not to suggest of course that this is any sort of glorification, as you yourself specified.)
@themysteriouscrumpet See there are some people who mistake pride with respect. I don't take pride in what happened, but I respect it. We wouldn't be like we are today without history... But one thing that irritates me are the skinheads who bastardize this history...
