Also, the 5.56 ammunition is much more manageable, it is lighter but gets the job done and with lower recoil than 7.62 weapons, But American weapons like the M4, M16, ACR, XM8 and more can be swapped to chamber the 7.62 to bring up the stopping power. And M16 is just as good as an AK47 if you keep it clean. An Ak47 is for the basic soldier, it is simply reliable. An M16 is for advanced soldiers and can be fitted in hundreds of ways depending on the situation.

@gercootje: I'm pretty sure the service figures stand for themselves. MSTA-S = 800 (In Russian usage), PzH 2000 = 185. Considering what the capabilities of the system are, and the sheer number produced, I'd have to say that Stalin's "Quantity has a quality all it's own" holds rather true, especially in this case.
