my dance company is doing this this year...this is my solo. intense haha. this has to be one of my favorite costumes everrr. (hers not mine. mine isn't nearly as fabulous.) and i love the dance of the hours! their costumes are BEAUTIFUL!

Swanilda is the young girl in love with Franz who tricks Dr. Coppelieus. These variations (of which Aurora is one) are representations of what the new bell which is giving to the village would be used for in this instance the dawn of a new day.

No mistake, this is the Aurora variation from Coppelia. Anyway, Mara is an exceptional dancer, wonderful vid.

Sometimes it is called Dawn, instead of Aurora...it has nothing to do with Sleeping Beauty however. I've usually heard it called Dawn and Prayer, but I guess it also can be called Aurora and Prayer.

there are actually two variations in the second act.

dawn and prayer.

prayer is an adagio type variation, while dawn is more allegro.

yes, because in french aurora means dawn-rising of the sun, this girl is dancing at franz's and swanilda's wedding to represent the begining of a new life
