Miss NZ was hands down the best overall candidate and deserved to win the crown. She was feminine and graceful and also beautiful. USA, Switzerland and also Italy were strong. Italy should have been in the top 5 - very sweet. USA was attractive with a good figure but lacked femininity. Switzerland attractive but too much aware of it which detracted from her beauty. I've been watching the Miss Universe Pageant without interruption since 1975 when Finland won in El Salvador where it was held. I remember back in 1983 watching this telecast I picked (and my mother did too) Miss New Zealand from the very start and low and behold we got it right, she won, yes it's true her teeth were crooked but she had this innocent beauty to her that ultimately made her bag the title and take it to her country New Zealand. In my opinion she is one of the prettiest winners ever

Ese año nos robaron descaradamente porque no compramos la transmisión.

Su puntaje promedio en la semifinal le daba para entrar en el cuadro de las 5 finalistas pero inexplicablemente la despojaron del lugar que le correspondía porque Venezuela (Venevisión) no pudo ese año comprar la transmisión del evento que costaba 100 mil dólares.

En el certamen de 81, cada vez que miss Canada iba desbilar, la venezolana ponia sus pies en su friente para que la canadiense caiera. Pero al final la canadiense se quedó con um brillante 2 posicion e en ano siguinte la venezolana tuvo que coronar otra miss Canada.

Miss NZ was hands down the best overall candidate and deserved to win the crown. She was feminine and graceful and also beautiful. USA, Switzerland and also Italy were strong. Italy should have been in the top 5 - very sweet. USA was attractive with a good figure but lacked femininity. Switzerland attractive but too much aware of it which detracted from her beauty. NZ was the best full stop. If you do not believe me have a look at her farewell walk in 1984 !!

I've been watching the Miss Universe Pageant without interruption since 1975 when Finland won in El Salvador where it was held. I remember back in 1983 watching this telecast I picked (and my mother did too) Miss New Zealand from the very start and low and behold we got it right, she won, yes it's true her teeth were crooked but she had this innocent beauty to her that ultimately made her bag the title and take it to her country New Zealand. In my opinion she is one of the prettiest winners ever

Motivado a las medidas de austeridad que ese año se decretaron en nuestro país. En su lugar colocaron a Miss Inglaterra (quien en el Miss International 1984 sólo llegó de semifinalista). Paola Ruggeri (Venezuela) era la más bella, elegante y desenvuelta. Además de que se lució como bilingûe hablando inglés. Era la que merecía ganar. Ese año nos robaron descaradamente porque no compramos la transmisión.

A Paola Ruggeri (Miss Venezuela) le robaron ese Miss Universo. Sacó la máxima puntuación entre todas las 80 candidatas en la fase preliminar. Su puntaje promedio en la semifinal le daba para entrar en el cuadro de las 5 finalistas pero inexplicablemente la despojaron del lugar que le correspondía porque Venezuela (Venevisión) no pudo ese año comprar la transmisión del evento que costaba 100 mil dólares.

En el certamen de 81, cada vez que miss Canada iba desbilar, la venezolana ponia sus pies en su friente para que la canadiense caiera. Pero al final la canadiense se quedó con um brillante 2 posicion e en ano siguinte la venezolana tuvo que coronar otra miss Canada.
