I dont like the 4.6L at all. It was only good in the 03 Cobra in my opinion. Id rather have my 94 Cobra ProCharged. Dont see to many of the 94-95 Cobras. Im not sure what number mine is, but it sure is 1 out of 5200 produced in 94. The guy I bought it from wanted $5500 with 107,000 on the clock, not bad at all for a 94 Cobra. I got it for $4500, Id say I got a good deal.
Ive got a lightly modded 03 cobra but id love to have a gt500 even if it was a bit slower. Its just a nicer car and its got a rear that can actually handle the power it puts out.
@Gstafff87 nope Ive beat them before too with my terminator on stock pulley. The cobra much lighter than the heavy gt500. Usually for every 100lbs heavier its like losing 10hp. The gt500 almost 700lbs heavier, its like losing 70 extra hp do to weight when racing against cobra. Weight has a huge factor.
@supadupaflyplaya Where are you getting 700lbs from? Terminator weighs in around 3650, GT500 around 3900. 250lbs difference isnt 700. You beat the driver on stock pulley, not the car. Traction aside the GT500 walks the cobra stock for stock. Its physics and proven at that.

I ran an 08 GT500 twice and beat him both times on stock pulley, Accufab Oval TB which flows1696cfm compared to stock 1089cfm, K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake, Custom Ram Air Induction, O/R X-Pipe & a Diablo Sport Predator tune. At the time car dynoed at 417.74HP, 383.25TQ @ 98.94F, 29.26in-Hg & 30% Humidity. Of course u cant simulate ram air on dyno so HP & TQ ratings off

@bbak36 , no I meant the 5.4l Ti-VCT which has 30 extra hp over non Ti-VCT 5.4l. But I've read about the 5.8L with 2.9L blower engine thats in the test phase. I really doubt that it will come out in 2013. They said the Ti-VCT 5.4L was coming out on 2011 models but it didn't. Hopefully it comes out in 2012 model.

Not ALL Cobras are quick. I raced a late 90s Cobra in my stock 03 GT and I pulled on him very slowly. Let's face it, the new edge stangs, though I absolutely love them, are only fast for the price tag. 03-04 Cobras were amazing, and I'd love to have a Sonic Blue 03 Cobra. I'd take it over a new GT500 any day.
@Noahsebb88 amen i agree o3 cobra aka the terminator is the shit with a 2.8 pulley, full heads and exhaust with a 3.4 whipple we're talkin about 600hp right there. they are so easy to work on and you only have to put in a few things to get a lot of horsepower out of it
@redheelflorida i put a 2.8 pulley on a cobra before, the belt tightener wouldn't budge so we had to get a high-low and pushed it down to get the existing belt off and the new belt on, it was a huge pain in the ass, so far every thing i have done on that car has taken 3x the effort and time it should of because of 1 or 2 small problems, like bolts being cranked on too tight or your spring tensioner braking. So no they are not easy to work on so far I have broken $200 worth of tools on it.
@Noahsebb88 Don't know why. The Terminators were awesome for the time but the new body style looks a hell of alot better. I had a 96 Saleen show car as well as an 06 GT and an 07 Saleen. Now I have an 09 GT-500 and it's the best one I've owned. Terminators are good because you can get them fairly cheap I guess but the 05 and up looks more the part.
@Wayuatt I didn't like the 90s or the 05-09. I like the 99-04 and the present design. The 90s and 05-09 just seem like unrefined versions of the bodystyle that replaced them. The 99-04 are my favorite Mustangs, even if they don't look much like muscle cars. I always laugh when I see old videos where people are like "The 99 Mustang has lots of retro styling!" No it doesn't. Not compared to the 05-present.
@Noahsebb88 The late 90's Cobras were not real Cobras. They weren't charged and had to conform to Ford's bull shit "4.6L motors only" policy. They were small, untuned, not built, and unimpressive. In '95 Ford built their Mustangs with 5.0s but switched to the 4.6 at the end of that models year. So 95 Mustangs were split between 4.6s and 5.0s. But after that, every Mustang until 01 (I think) were weak unbuilt 4.6s. Very unimpressive.

Seriously? haha For the time the 96-98 cobras were pushing 305hp which was a hell of a lot more than the GTs and were decent performers. Sure now that doesnt seem to impressive, but back then YES. 95s were NOT split between 5.0 and 4.6 the 4.6 was introduced in 96. 99 is when the PI heads produced 265hp. research

@TheZohaun 03-04 cobras ran for 40k new not 30k. By the way twin turbos dont cost 20-35k. The hellion twin turbo kit starts off at $7k and with all the options the kit runs for $10,800

@TheUsmcsoldier12 theres a difference in between being careless and stupid and street racing, its quite hard to loose it going in a straight line. street racing is just like a loaded gun it can be very dangerous when you have little experience and handle it inappropriately, or it can be very safe if you do know how to handle it. besides I always check the tread on my rear tires before I do anything like that so I don't have a high speed burst or loose it on a corner.

@person3213 all work was done at sutton high performance so labor prices are higher because it is one of the best shops. not all money was engine work such as the rims and tires etc. it is not a drag car, it is a complete street car with cold a/c, all of the interior is there. so it is not all gutted out. the engine was claimed to run low 9's in a gutted and tubed 96 cobra chassis

lol when those gt500 first came out my buddy and I raced some old guy in one and smoked the fuck outta him(in a 03 slowbra)... but he was stock and well... we were not haha.
Many got the Terminators to run 12:4s right off of the showrom floor. With drag radials and a catback they were into the 11s. Swap the SC pulley and they were mid 11s, about the same story as the GT 500s. Pretty even match up.

@ls1eater- Ehhh...they've been around long enough man... the proof is in the pudding. Don't get me wrong GT500's are no slouch or no joke, stock or modded... and with the extra displacement engine wise (blower wise as well) it is assumed "they should" hold their own and most of the time they do. @helloman1976 5.0 mag did an unbiased test with a stock 04 Term against a stock 08 Shelby. The Shelby was faster in stock form both et and trap , then they did equal mods, (pulley, CAI and tune) the Sby was significantly faster with equal mods. Thats why the 03-04s were replaced. And the 03/04s are only 220 lbs lighter.. You need to see the full article.

@redheelflorida i put a 2.8 pulley on a cobra before, the belt tightener wouldn't budge so we had to get a high-low and pushed it down to get the existing belt off and the new belt on, it was a huge pain in the ass, so far every thing i have done on that car has taken 3x the effort and time it should of because of 1 or 2 small problems, like bolts being cranked on too tight or your spring tensioner braking. So no they are not easy to work on so far I have broken $200 worth of tools on it.

@Noahsebb88 Don't know why. The Terminators were awesome for the time but the new body style looks a hell of alot better. I had a 96 Saleen show car as well as an 06 GT and an 07 Saleen. Now I have an 09 GT-500 and it's the best one I've owned. Terminators are good because you can get them fairly cheap I guess but the 05 and up looks more the part.

@Wayuatt I didn't like the 90s or the 05-09. I like the 99-04 and the present design. The 90s and 05-09 just seem like unrefined versions of the bodystyle that replaced them. The 99-04 are my favorite Mustangs, even if they don't look much like muscle cars. I always laugh when I see old videos where people are like "The 99 Mustang has lots of retro styling!" No it doesn't. Not compared to the 05-present.

@Noahsebb88 The late 90's Cobras were not real Cobras. They weren't charged and had to conform to Ford's bull shit "4.6L motors only" policy. They were small, untuned, not built, and unimpressive. In '95 Ford built their Mustangs with 5.0s but switched to the 4.6 at the end of that models year. So 95 Mustangs were split between 4.6s and 5.0s. But after that, every Mustang until 01 (I think) were weak unbuilt 4.6s. Very unimpressive.

Seriously? haha For the time the 96-98 cobras were pushing 305hp which was a hell of a lot more than the GTs and were decent performers. Sure now that doesnt seem to impressive, but back then YES. 95s were NOT split between 5.0 and 4.6 the 4.6 was introduced in 96. 99 is when the PI heads produced 265hp. research

@TheUsmcsoldier12 theres a difference in between being careless and stupid and street racing, its quite hard to loose it going in a straight line. street racing is just like a loaded gun it can be very dangerous when you have little experience and handle it inappropriately, or it can be very safe if you do know how to handle it. besides I always check the tread on my rear tires before I do anything like that so I don't have a high speed burst or loose it on a corner.

@person3213 all work was done at sutton high performance so labor prices are higher because it is one of the best shops. not all money was engine work such as the rims and tires etc. it is not a drag car, it is a complete street car with cold a/c, all of the interior is there. so it is not all gutted out. the engine was claimed to run low 9's in a gutted and tubed 96 cobra chassis

Many got the Terminators to run 12:4s right off of the showrom floor. With drag radials and a catback they were into the 11s. Swap the SC pulley and they were mid 11s, about the same story as the GT 500s. Pretty even match up.

Did this guy have lighter wheels? Did he remove stuff? Out of the box off showroom floor its exactly what I stated. Ill bet you anything weight was removed at the very least or he used drag lite wheels. Which im not disputing your information but he still did stuff to achieve that. Cool vid, I'm a SVT fan, Terminator lover and respect the GT500's but... Terminator > GT500... As I read through all 51 comments and took note of some of the comments about Termi's getting smashed or being inferior to the GT500's my response is do a search here on youtube, streetfire, or mustangrodder and you'll see that 7 out of 10 Terminator vs GT500 vids you see will show the 03-04's kicking the snot out of the GT500's. Don't get me wrong GT500's are no slouch or no joke, stock or modded... and with the extra displacement engine wise (blower wise as well) it is assumed "they should" hold their own and most of the time they do. But I'll defer to back to the Terminator for being the better opponent pound for pound in the ass kicking dept. I too have been through both vehichles and know what they are both capable of.

Save $20,000 and get an 03/04 Cobra...if you can find one.

@helloman1976 5.0 mag did an unbiased test with a stock 04 Term against a stock 08 Shelby. The Shelby was faster in stock form both et and trap , then they did equal mods, (pulley, CAI and tune) the Sby was significantly faster with equal mods. Thats why the 03-04s were replaced. And the 03/04s are only 220 lbs lighter.. You need to see the full article.
