I was once trapped on a beach between ocean and jungle in Costa Rica near there, during night with high tide coming in, barefoot, hermit crabs, sand fleas everywhere. The village was three hour hike away. The best thing I learned: Go into the ocean to wipe yourself.

the only problem I have with Les is that during his artic surviving episode he recomended eatting snow for hydration. Eatting ice or snow lowers your core temperature and also uses up calories for the energy require to bring it up to body temp. There are other more sensiable ways to melt snow.

i know it's just a les vs bear thing, and i like both of them. they are both the real deal.

i will say though, les loses a hell of alot of time doing his own camera work, and he's just either not as good, or has shittier luck with hunting than bear does.

i've seen bear use the same traps and catch something and it's rare for les to come up with anything. he tries, he just get's nothing. then again, maybe if he wasn't loopy from not eating for so long, his traps would pay off more.

there is one big difference between bear and les is that bear has a camera crew and all that shit. he still does all the crazy shit but the bottom line is if something happens he will get help. with les. he is actually ALONE. no help no nothing. he might not catch crazy fish and make crazy ropes to drop down cliffs n shit. but non of that shit matters when ur stuck in the middle of nowhere. bottom line is he survives.

why are people calling les stroud a fraud compared to bear grylls? did none of you see the article where bear grylls ADMITTED that he doesnt actually survive the way the show suggests? he admitted to eating, drinking and sleeping with the night crew at local motels, hotels and camp spots.. he said "you cant expect someone to actually do this stuff on television, show biz is everywhere" or something similar. les stroud may not be the best survivor in the world, but his advice travels a long way

@revenge2269 I concur with you. You have a better chance of surviving with Les' advice then with Bear's. Actually Bear does things that an average joe can't do when it comes to surviving. The way Bear teaches and does things will put you at risk of injury, and when you get injured in the wilderness all by yourself, you're as good as dead. Les Stroud's advice is much safer and you would have a better chance of survival in the wilderness.

i think les might be getting lazy and just enduring the time at an area in the later episodes, instead of putting his survival skills to work, dont get me wrong, this guy knows his stuff, would like to see him try harder hunting, but overall he does very well for a tv program. and after all he has to ensure his equipment is set up at all times too, i think he does well. most survival shows are at a tropical paradise, where you wont freeze and lots of food around, thats easy. he goes everywhere
