  • I realy need to move out of NY

  • dont the NATO rounds burn slower then civilian .223 rounds and therefore have a lower velocity? or is that only 7.62/.308?

  • The military shoots the casings 100 times over, they get reloaded, then they're sold at walmart

  • My local gun store got pallet loads of this stuff stocked as high as the walls in the store, I was shocked.........and they were selling them for $150 a box of 440 which is a good deal for the M855 stuff. This stuff will go through a 1 inch steel plate.

  • palmettostatearmory sells it cheaper than that.

  • what wal-mart is that ??

  • @tunedbynissan that's how we do in kansas :)

  • I would have bought those at Walmart, but I bought at my local gun dealer.

  • Dont quote me but I know the military has developed a new cartridge(silver tipped) thats suppose to replace the m855, Im not sure if its already being fielded. If it is then the military will definitely liquidate their supply of m855. So this could by why even walmarts selling this stuff. good deal with the can and stripper clips. I gotta check my walmart!

  • @biggboysouth It's the new M855A1.

  • @michaelxxxtofu I think you right. Im not sure cuz i came across it a while back but sound about right. All I realy know about it, is that its suppose to give better terminal ballistics than the standard m855 at all ranges, almost match grade ammo accuracy, better barrier ballistics, and a change in tip color. Sounds like a good cartridge. I wonder if it works?

  • @biggboysouth i'ts part of the new SOPMOD block for counter werewolf measures

  • @biggboysouth thanks to clinton surplus ammo is burned. whatever they sell to us wasnt meant for the DOD

  • Spelled technician.

  • I want to add: I spoke with a tecnician an Nosler, he has never heard of a problem shooting 5.56 in a .223 chamber. Also, I, and many other shooters at our shooting club have been doing so for years with no problems whatsover. Any increase in pressure seems not to matter.

  • @floridafyme Nosler wouldnt have anything to do with this issue since they do not load Nato ammo fofor military contracts. I suggest you check the SAAMI site and the chamberings of the firearms you are using

  • Bi-mart (Local Northwest chain store) had the same for $139.99 a few months back. I grabbed a few for Just In Case SHTF

  • This is only .2 cents per round

  • @fot8082 no its 35 cents a round. and for the price and the fact that its on stripper clips its a damn good deal.

  • If you are concerned about a potential case rupture, buy a headspace guage and check the case dimensions. I have examined numerous M855 spent cases. There have been no signs of excessive pressure: flattened primers etc.

  • @floridafyme a head space gauge wont check case dimensions, it checks chamber dimensions, but it doesnt check throat depth. And you wont find pressure issues on brass designed for higher pressure loads, nor will you find evidence of backed out primers on staked in primers such as are used in military brass. HOWEVER when used in chambers that are not designed for military loads the chamber will eventually fatigue and stress fractures will form unless it is made for it.

  • Before anyone goes any further, .223 and 5.56 ammo is NOT the same! 5.56 is loaded to HIGHER pressures and should NEVER be fired in firearms chambered and marked for .223 Rem. NEVER! The difference is in the THROAT of the chamber not in the case dimensions. This allows the higher pressure rounds and greater velocity of the 5.56 without generating overly high chamber pressures. The .223 doesnt have this longer throat and thus the higher pressure round will generate a dangerous pressure spike.

  • @ProfessionalArmourer correct me if im wrong but doesnt the NATO ammo also have a very slightly thicker case which helps contribute to the higher pressure?

  • @snowboarddude117 case wall thickness affects case volume, therefore the amount of powder available to create pressure. The throat depth is the distance between the bullet and the point where the rifiling engages it. a shallow throat such as that of the .223 rem causes the rifiling to engage the bullet before it completely leaves the case neck, a 5.56 nato chamber allows even the heaviest .75 grain bullet to fully disengage from the brass case before engaging the rifiling

  • So as you can see, all three work hand in hand two affect pressure, Add in the extra tight military style crimp, case pressure spikes before the bullet releases. So it is dangerous to use these in the wrong chamber. The "it works fine" argument is great until the stress cracks form and the chamber blows...

  • thats pretty fuckin cool..

  • I paid $113 for this same can at Cabela's. Had to pull it all off the clips, but it's a nice box, but I buy most of my ammo at Cheaper Than DIrt, which has a store 30 mins from me.

  • Manufacturer #: XM855LC1 AC1

This Ammunition has been loaded and passed true NATO specifications. This is first run ammo that met the US Military’s strict quality assurance standards and specifications. This ammunition has passed Military Specification Testing and is NOT Quality Control Rejected Ammunition. This ammunition does not carry the lable "NOT FOR DUTY USE".

    Federal

  • @MrRustytrombone

What Walmart carries this? can it be ordered on line? Makes me wonder if it was not a miss shippment.

  • Some of the Walmarts got a single Bushmaster M4 and 4-8 cans of this ammo, once its gone its gone, its a one time deal.

  • If im not mistaken this is what our (US) military uses

  • but what the nice gentlemen at walmart didnt tell you is that xm855 is all military rejects... hints what the X means.... also its the same bulk.pack from federal that is marked not for duty use just packaged different

  • @nickaaron10

Not every round is rejected, the entire run is rejected due to a few bad rounds not meeting quality standards. Most of the time it's because some forklift ding dong at the factory dropped the pallet of ammo and some of the cases have dents so the military rejects the entire run and the factory sells it to the public.

I've shot 1000's of rounds of this stuff and its the best ammo I've ever shot with not a single problem.

  • Ah Geeze! Now I gotta go to WalMart! But at least I'll actually look attractive there! Oh God I'm ugly!

  • That's the best deal on SS109 I've ever heard of.

  • When I discovered 5.56 NATO at Walmart, I was also surprised......considering there are several gun stores in my area that won't carry it; but will stock .223 Remington. It is NOT the same ammo!

  • ketchup...BEEP mayo...BEEP....500 rounds of 5.56...BEEP.

  • Great ammo, not seconds or +/- grain. They do release this ammo from federal as seconds but it is labeled "NOT FOR DUTY USE" above the barcode. I have run hundreds of these rounds from Cabelas and only had 2 fail. As previously stated the troops are coming home and Federal has extras, good for us.

  • @arsurvivalist More often than not these socalled rejets are not rejects as claimed but are over runs. When a contract is put in it is for X number of rounds, BUT the MFG orders the supplies to make the ammo by the ton not the number of cases and primers and bullets. They also have to allow for test rounds AND real rejects so they typically pad the order for an additional 25% of the number of rounds. What isnt wasted through testing or damage is sold open market.

  • My Walmart sucks, they only stock 12Ga., .22lr and that's about it. like I said...SUCKS.

  • holy crap.. .balistic and annealed... great buy, i need to find that wally world.

  • nice find if your gun can shoot nato ammo

  • @ipaintyou1 it still 223

  • @wolfgagger 5.56 and .223 are 2 different rounds. just very similar. and plus .223 is not NATO...

  • @wolfgagger no it isnt, close but one goes bang and the other destroys the gun if it's the wrong caliber. You can shoot a .223 in a 5.56 but never shoot a 5,56 in a .223

  • They didn't have this ammo at my walmart. Kinda pissed

  • got 3 cans of it at wally world in sanford NC...$149.99 ...mil surp..great stuff

  • you paid less than me... i paid .35 cents a round lol i know its no big deal

  • +1, all wallmart ammo is crap. like guy below me said, +/- grains, bad primers, etc. while it may shoot fine without you noticing it may have been a bad batch off ammo or ammo that didnt meet Q/C. just like winchesters "white box" its just reloads.

  • IDK about this ammo but walmarts standards for rifle ammo is +/- 8 grain of powder, meaning you can have a load with 58 grain and a load with 42 in the same box. your basically getting seconds.

  • @ssbalt06 WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG

time to change your bong water, No mfg is going to risk that type of liability suit to save a quarter of a cent per ten rounds... Further it is ILLEGAL to sell seconds on ammo PERIOD, I guess the heading of this reply hit it on the head!

  • @ssbalt06 You know Walmart isn't manufacturing these rounds? They are a retailer, they just sell them.

  • This stuff is all over the place now, my local gun shops have it, my local walmart has it. Its a good deal.

  • Man people need to learn the benifits of reloading i can make that round with all lake city parts for 13 cents all day long

  • Where do u live I live in ca and damn my Walmart does not have that would be nice Nice. Vid

  • Iraq war is over, ammo makers are going to have some surplus for a while.

  • @535Medic not really, it's going to Afganistan

  • @ProfessionalArmourer They have been sending it to Afghanistan since before Iraq. They have all those nice production plants they geared up when we were fighting both. Now that it is coming to an end and the military is being cut back they are trying to maintain there profits.

  • Got some over at Turners as well. Great stuff!

  • yup got for Christmas.. Btw, ive been looking for it online and found a lot of lake city ammo for sale but its the rejected crap mostly..! The box I got at WM was 2011 fit for duty new!! great ammo!! used tones of it overseas!! wont let you down! but now that the word is out I cant get more always sold out...

  • Damn my Walmart. Those asshats were out of it.

  • Thats bad ass...

  • I don't see where it's such a 'steal' at over $0.33 per round, except for the box, I guess, but you have to pay tax, etc.

  • @brentfoto it's M855 at walmart!

  • @brentfoto if you have a connection for cheaper M855 please let me know. I can also pick this up in less than 10 minutes from my house.

  • @MrRustytrombone $139 at cheaper than dirt

  • @brentfoto where are you going to get this stuff any cheaper?

not even counting the stripers and box

    this is a great deal

    no shipping

  • @brentfoto 5.56 Federal Ammo for $6.60 a box...show me where its cheaper.

  • My WM had one can of this last time I was there and it followed me home:)

  • walmart is a part of the system that wants us to kill eachother....course they wanna arm us to the teth, they want carnage.....nato green tips little bit cheaper on "cheaper than dirt site"... happy hunting!

  • Holy shit! The walmarts here in IL only have way over-priced Remington ammo for .223; By over priced I mean about $15 for 20rnds. Ammo is about the only thing I go to wally world for: that's when I am really desperate to go shooting and all other gun stores are closed.

However, I will say that they have broadened their ammo selection... they actually carry 7.62x39 now for $5 a box of tula. But seeing as the gun show is next week I will have no need to shop at walfart for awhile; thank god...

  • 139 on AIM Surplus

  • @airsoftlamblover thanks for the heads up but you can't buy roman noodles and hair dye at aimsurplus

  • @airsoftlamblover plus shipping. WM still beats it by a few bucks.

  • Yea I saw a couple of these at a Walmart I was at during black friday. $150 is pretty standard on the 420 rnd case. Walmart is suppose to be getting back into firearms. I remember as a kid they actually had a good selection on rifles.

I shoot the Tula ammo with no problems in different calibers.

  • @Rangerscott69 i saw an ar at my walmart. that doesnt happen all the time

  • @Alldickedup Yup. Starting to see some here. Not priced bad either. Hopefully the gossip of Walmart kicking it up in the gun department is actually true.

  • it was a sig sauer too. thats what surprised me

  • @Alldickedup ya our walmart has ar's now too. and sig ar's

  • Great find. Academy has some marked "Not For Duty Use".What State do you live in?

  • @texasbud100

    kansas sir.

  • ha thats legit green tips and all.

    oh how i miss walmart

  • nice! i cant believe they have that at walmart. I got some of those american eagla 223s for 6 bucks per box of 20. I think thats pretty cheap. 150 for $420 works out to about $7 per 20. But the stripper clips and ammo can makes it worth the extra price.

  • @shtfgear Its 420 rounds for $150.00. Its a great deal and its not your normal 20rounds to a box its 30 rounds on 10 round stripper clips.
