  • great job there...nothing else to say

  • Tabs please? lol Still one of my favorites Todd.

  • Really nice!! I love that E harp..

  • mind blowing todd, thanks.

  • you've got soul!!!

  • Hey Todd,

Wish you could make more music videos like this. Love the music like this. Can't find good harmonica blues like this.

If you're making more or have suggestions, please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Shadowgurl9231

  • I was looking for demonstrations of the Golden Melody Harmonica and the Melody Maker Harmonica, found your video and I must say you play very nice. I wanted to see which one would be the better model harmonica. You mentioned that you have yours re-tuned. Can you tell us, have you tried the Melody Maker? If you have can you give your opinion, the good and bad points of each?

  • great!!!

  • Awsome playing, man!! I would love to play like that!!

  • Anybody know the name of the technique done at 1:40 and if there are tutorials?

  • So Souful...

  • how long have you been playing?

  • You are absolutely incredible

  • You are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G man!

  • Wow, you're pretty damn good!

  • Ah.. How beautiful... I love it :) I think I could fall sleep to it. Maybe you should make an MP3 download?

  • Wow.... that's beautiful dude, I'm speechless right now...!

  • Hey Man..outstanding bends & superb flow of music....I wish to play bends like you..Could you please guide me on that ? Once again Thanks for this upload. Regards - Amaresh (Pune,India)

  • daaaamn

  • Hey mate, where you learn this from do you recon any resource helps to learn? Thanks , you are awesome

  • @TylerFHL1 - Thanks! This is just a result of many years of listening to other harmonica players and other instruments as well. Terry McMillan was a big influence. I would recommend that anyone learning to play the harmonica listen to his 2 albums and any other albums he's featured on. And there are lots of good resources on YouTube.

  • damn thats cool

  • @rivieratom17 - Thanks!

  • Simply amazing.

  • @Pleasum - Thanks!

  • How do you get that funky sound at 1:16, 1:48 and 1:50. It aren't the high tones, wich I like very very much but just that extra tone before. You can get it easy with a chromatic harmonica, but some times I can get it by accidence on the high tones of my diatonic hammond:P.

  • @DelaneyHF - I think what you're hearing are simply bends on the blow notes, including the 7 blow bend, which is possible on a retuned harp as this one is.

  • Dude That was Sexy!!

  • wow!

  • Todd, What is the background track and where can I get it? Good job and I like your style!

  • @mypiperwarrior - Thanks! I played that piano track myself. I don't think I have it anymore, as I just recorded it for this video.

  • That truly was an inspiring, confident and heartfelt performance Todd! Keep up the good work!!

  • incredible good

  • Hey Ace,

    That was ACE!

  • Very sweet phrasing, Todd!

  • its not easy, learn this too thanks

  • Smokin' awesome use of that upper register, there. Todd Parrott's the man!

  • Fine bluesy playing. Im a harp player too and a can tell that u r good. Thanks for sharing. Nice phrasing by the way.

  • 1:26 =AWESOME

  • Todd-if I could find the words to match your playing I would be writing a masterpiece!

I've been playing for a fair while now but it never ceases to amaze me when I come across dudes like you who play so effortlessly................and so well ! Thanks......gotta go and practice some more now that you've inspired me. Great work-keep it coming !

  • Sooooooo smooooooooth......

  • Todd, you are fantastic!!!, its great sound, the best !!! sorry, inglish is not lenguage native, I from Chile, i speak spanish.

    congratulations!!!!

    sinceramente,

    Leo Enry

  • Sounds marvelous Todd!

  • Wow! This just made my day. A friend sent this link to me as a thank you....I need to send him one back. TOOOOO short!

  • You are an amazing harp player. I can't stop listening to this. Now I have to return to the woodshed and cry.

  • every time i listen to this it gets better and better thanks for posting the videos

  • Hi Ace, Iv'e listened to alot of harp player's and you play the way I would like to play. I want to buy a harp. Please advise me as to what harp to buy. I've seen another video you had with the suzuki hammond harp. That sounded very good to me. I'm diggin the E key in this tune. You got it!! Please advise me as to which harp to buy, out of the box, the Hammond or the melody . Thanks Much, Kirk.

  • @tazo300 I prefer the Golden Melody to the Hammond. The Golden Melody reed profiles are more suitable for overblows and overdraws than the Hammond.

  • @AceOfHarps Thanks for advice :)

  • dude ur awesome man. u single handedly made me pick up a harmonica in the key of b. this video is awesome, is there n e way that u can make what u played a tutorial so maybe i cud learn. thats alot man u inspired me :)

  • @Dtauro1234101 Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I don't have a way to tab this out. It would be pretty complicated to do so, at least for me anyway. It's much easier to demonstrate in person.

  • you single handedly made me buy a harmonica and see if i cud do it. im alright but this video really makes me jelous. do u no n e way i cud learn this? tab or sumthing?... ur amazin g dude dont forget it :p

  • A...mazing!

  • the 1 person that didnt like has no "soul," in more ways than one.

  • that is just outta this world, its almost inspired me to get a harmonica. lol well done dude i loved it, that is music to my ears. i'd love to have the ability to do that.

  • How do you get that funky saxophone sound out of your MAGIC harmonica.

I mean every harmonica in your hands can get that kind of magic sound:P

  • @DelaneyHF Took a lot of practicing on the back porch growing up! :)

  • How do you start off with such a clear note I practice single notes and I cant get them to sound so clear as you do. : ( Bummed out :( any suggestions on how to practice ? How do you pracitce single notes ?

  • @HarPlayer I listened to a lot of Terry McMillan growing up. Always tried to pattern my style after him.

  • Thanks for the inspiration Todd, I am absolutely obsessed with this instrument man. I practice all the time. I have a question on this though, are you tongue blocking this whole thing?

  • @Pleasum Nope - I'm using lip pursing.

  • sounds good to me

  • Ok man, that was incredible. This is the kind of thing that both makes me want to practice my rear end off and throw my harps out all at the same time!! Of course, I wouldn't throw'em out though if I could even play one tenth that good. Simply amazing.

  • @Pleasum to quote Vince Lombardi "the difference between a successful person & others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will" in other words if you want to be very good, its down to you! practise practise practise. its even easier with youtube, experts are telling you how to do it, like Adam Gussow, Jason Ricci!

  • and what type of harmonica is that? chromatic? diatonic?

  • can you please give me some tips on how to buy a harmonica? im also planning to buy a harmonica that is in the key of B or C

  • @ivanjsh I play Hohners. I always recommend the Golden Melody or Special 20. I don't think you'd end up using the key of B too often.

  • @AceOfHarps thank you sir. ill put that on my list. so, is it better to buy a harp that is in the key of C? coz as soon as i listened to your vid right here, i told myself that im gonna buy a harp that is in the key of B.

  • @ivanjsh @ivanjsh Well, yes, C is a good key. However, the harmonica in this video is in the key of E, played in 2nd position, which is B.

  • @AceOfHarps okay sir. ill put that in mind. thank you very much sir!

  • DUDE PLEASE!!!!! I got to know how you do that move at 00:37

  • @trrose9485 They're all draw notes. Would be easier to show in person. Not sure how to type it out here and have it make sense.

  • Todd, you are one amazing guy. i can't imagine making anything sound as cool as that.

  • Really good!!

  • He's gonna "try" and play some blues for ya! This guy is one of the best I have heard since Howard Levy!

  • @tigerpath1965 Thanks! Howard is the man.

  • tod YOU ARE AMAZINg :) can you help me?, i want bay the harmonica tell me wich harmonica buy . harmonica golden melodi gold or silver? and please tell me what is the difference are it ?

  • You are awesome ;)

Definetely one of my favorites on Youtube of all tha harmonica players there are.

For a harmonica newbie like me, you are a fantastic motivator to me-

Thanx and keep up your great great

    videos- Brian

  • I just figured that you are doing a 4 overblow at the beginning of the second phrase...that minor sounding note. I figured it out by watching your Joe Spiers video where you were sounding some overblow notes. Darn, that could be a useful note if I could get a harp set up and learn it!

  • This is so cool...I got to order a new E harp where I can try and tune down the 7 draw and try and learn this. I like the the little minor chord background section you play over as well. Thanks!

  • wuau la cago !! jajaja

  • I think I wet myself this is beyond good.....5 trillion stars! (i've heard it B4 of course but it sounds better every time I hear it so I keep listening even though it may mean changing into dry clothes, lol)

  • LOL! Thanks man. I'll try and post some more stuff soon.

  • @quinoacat Yes, Todd's tone is unbelievable as well as phrasing.

  • Beautiful sound

  • SOS GROSO! SABELO!...

  • WOW MAN!!! MAKE IT CRY ALRIGHT!!! :D i just one and you inspired me...

  • Excelente!!!!! Increible el sonido que produces con tu instrumento, muchisimas gracias por compartirlo.

  • Bravissimo!!! :))))))))))

  • Nice stuff as always Todd. This is Shaun, the guy you talked to on the phone a couple of weeks back. You still going to send me that stuff when you get a chance? I finally got around to posting a video, but I haven't had a chance to tune down the 7th draw to try it out.

  • How the hell did you do that? can you give me some advises to play that awsome song?

  • my Golden Melody will be here this week. .

  • wonderful!

  • Hi that is a great harp style man.

Music is the real way of speaking

You dig deep into the soul and tell a great story.Thanks.

    Best wishes

  • jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez that was amazing!!!!!!!!!! ive never heard such clean harmonica, i have a marine band C and a blues harp A as well as E, i have never been able to get thoughs high notes like that though (about the 8th hole) how do you do it?

  • Thanks! There's really no secret to it, other than practice. I used to pratice for hours on the higher register of the harp when I was a kid. You just kinda get used to the higher register after awhile.

  • amazing

  • Thanks to Barbette for sending this.

Great harp sound. Great playing too.

  • Great stuff, five stars for sure, Big Rabbie, Australia.

  • You are amazing! Yes, indeed the áce of harps!!

  • Wow! You've got great chops my friend. I'm curious as to what type of vibrato you're using.

  • real nice man

  • Harmonica is something we don't hear too often. Years ago I discovered and loved John Mayall when he played this instrument. So, yesterday I typed in the word "Harmonica" and listened to a few videos and in my opinion you were the best. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and I will be back to hear more:))

  • That's very kind of you - thank you!

  • Really clean playing, precise yet fluid and crisp and very easy on the ears, just love your style. Excellent!!

I have harps in A,A-,B- ,C, D & G and am thinking of adding another 1 or 2. What other key would you recommend that is a good pitch and that would be practical. Tried high F before but too shrill and tight to play (how about a low F)or the E that your playing on this piece maybe. Best wishes. Kieron

  • That was brilliant!

  • i'm impressed..

  • Oh my god, that was great buddy!!!

  • great job!! btw how do you like the harmonica when you play chords with it? again, thats some sick blues :D

  • Sounds great!

  • The key of B is perhaps my favorite. Glad to find such a good video with it.

  • Thats some nasty blues :)

  • you sir are fantastic

  • the best player of the XXI century

  • that was damn good

  • i'm not sure if it is, but it seems fake..

but if it's not it is wonderful.. i'm not going to start an argument because if it is fake its on your shoulders not mine, good though

  • Fake? Not hardly. :-) What could make it seem fake is perhaps that I'm playing through a Neumann TLM 103 mic and an Avalon vt737sp preamp, with an added reverb effect via an Eventide Eclipse effects processor. Of course none of this is visible on the screen. I also played my Yamaha S90ES keyboard through an ADL-600 tube preamp. Quite a bit of equipment for a YouTube clip, but oh well. Glad you dig it! Thanks for your kind words.

  • So you played the keys to back yourself on this. Cool Todd. Sounded Sweet. Your Gear and your seasoned skill really make the difference in showcasing your wonderful talents.

  • Yeah, I played the keyboard track. I'm not as proficient on the keyboard as I am the harmonica though. But I like playing keys, and I do enough to get by I suppose. Thanks for your compliments!

  • Do you play guitar at all?

  • i need an....mp3 file of this???? hhaha lol

  • I know Todd. Todd is NO fake on Harmonica. He is an advanced professional harp player with NO NEED to fake anything unless it was an obvious joke of some kind. Sounds like him, looks like him playing....always remember that at times video synch issues can be on YOUR end making you see what looks like a poor dub when others see the presentation in synch on their PC's....this video is ALL him, I assure you.

  • beauteful man just beauteful man music of the gods

    5 starz

  • Your upper register is flawless! Beautiful! You got Terry McMillans rattled nailed and then some.

  • awsomeeee!

  • muito bom

    especial

  • Please tell me what's the name of this particular kind of blues or when I can find more of this, which author? this music is amazing.

  • ddaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmnnnnnnn you fucking make that harmonica your bitch O.O you are soo good, magically 5*

  • you are amazing, keep it up please my friend.

  • que sonido mas hermoso!

    n___n me encanto como tocas

  • You, sir, have just made me buy a harmonica.

  • I don't know how many times I have listened to this, but it is numerous. I've commented on this video before, but had to comment again. Absolutley my favorite blues clip on youtube.

  • you're amazing! thank you for posting this..honestly i didn't expect that when i clicked on

  • Comment removed

  • Wunderbar! 5 Pickerts vom Brakenberg!

    Torsten

  • also, the riff at 2:08 to 2:12 is amazing. you're using the holes between 6 and 8, right?

  • Yes, but the 7 draw has been lowered by a half step. Thanks for your kind words!

  • well, you've made me a fan. 5/5

  • Amazing. I'm impressed. How do You use the whole harmonica scale with such a grace? When I play and I start using higher notes whole magic disapears. It just doesn't fit. Maybe I lack experience in this case. After seeing this Blues Jam I'm detrminated to play like that and train more =)

  • you are amazing!!!! you are my insperation for playing. i only been playing for a month but i feel i have gotten a lot of progress

  • 5 stars!, amazing high end bends! with an E harp? wow, lots of feeling, really cool stuff!!

  • Beautiful, man...5 stars!

  • que bueno eres, colega..

    Viva el Blues.

    Un saludo

  • i've got a hohner chromonica, i can bend with that, i like more the chromatic harmonicas cause I like use the chromatism on the scale, it feels more jazzy. I love diatonic harp too.

  • I really liked that.

  • A Tour De Force and no mistake. Especially beautiful tone. Well played Todd and hats off to ya.

  • fuckin awesome . . . one of the best slow blueses ever heard.

  • probabily best tone (and playing) i've heard before

  • Simply the best.

  • I hope one day I could play like it,like you!!

    I really love!

  • It is in my opinion the best video of harmonica in youtube. Better than Sonny Boy, Howard lewy and JJMilteau.

    Thanks.

  • Oh my Gaaawwd. Not many players galvanize me that much. Amazing clarity!! My best. d

  • Thanks! :-)

  • Hey Todd, Can you retune a Key of C to a D-Flat Key?

  • Yes, but tuning the entire harp up a key is pretty time consuming.

  • shit that was wicked
