I don't think trumpet would work so well. Combination of lips buzzing and pressed against the mouth piece and doing any form snare or kick beat using 'p' or 'b' sounds would problematic.
You might get the sounds 't' and 'k' which you do anyways for double tonguing.

This is pretty cool. I don't think I can picture any other instrument doing this other than flutes or piccolos. MAYBE trumpet, i dont think so tho
