hey, my names Casey, and i was wondering if you were playing over a track that just had the chords. i'm auditioning for a music school with this piece, and this video has been very helpful to me. so thank you for that. but again, i just wanted to know if you were playing over a track, and if so, where could i find it.

Wonderful played! I'm working on this tune now a days at my music-school in Norway. I'll play it next week on my semester-exam. I still got some small troubles with the impros, even thou I've worked on it for a good while now. They do not run as smoothly as yours. You play fantastic in this tune. Your impros impress me!
Damn, I just can't stop listening to this vid... it's so soothing, and it still makes me jealous that I'm not just as good as this yet xD I'm 17, just picked up the arts of guitar... It's kinda do-able, but I think it will take a looong looong time to play like this xD
Playing music is not about the notes or the execution of the playing or any other kinda bollocks. It's about the fun and all the unquantifiable stuff that you get from it, I know that it sounds kinda cheesy..
The guitar is a no-name guitar that was made for me, it has a Seymour Duncan jazz pickup in the neck. The Amp is an AER, I normally don't use effects but there is some delay on this.
Smooth as a flat-wound third and then some. Your phrasing flows like melted honey; a delight to hear this number played so fluently. I don't see where you 'struggle' too much though!
I'm thinking more of the chords/arpeggios rather than the scales. Using this approach you can describe the chords that you are playing over much easily.
Think of playing small fragments of the arpeggios over the each chord and then link these together. It is kinda hard to do this (I struggle as you can see from this vid!)
Scale wise think of the tonal center of each section. A section is mostly F Maj, with a ii V in G in the middle and the B section has A7=Dmaj D7=Gmaj G7=Cmaj C7=Fmaj
I do mediocre improv to this song, but I like to take advantage of the Dorian mode (D7= A Dorian, C7= G Dorian etc). I don't handle very well with Mixlodinian mode.
Great playing ,excellent phrasing and chops,it sounds as if you're using compression on your sound is that so? Gives a nice punch to the sound, very tight and good timing, very good flow of musical ideas, greets Vic,check out my playing when you have time.
I don't use compression, it would have been the camera I think. The guitar kinda sounds compressed too with the way that I pick (I don't think that it is all to do with the way I pick though)..
I use the blunt edge of the plectrum, for me it sounds mellower than the pointed edge.
Thanks for great comment Jazzguts, I'm heading over to your page right now!!
nice beautiful music

@d0115042 ah, I know what you mean now. Hope the audition goes well for you.
Is it for music school?
dangreenwood 1 year ago
@d0115042 that's right. I used a backing track on this.
But most of the time when I am practicing I just use a metronome, I then have to spell the changes in a more succinct manner.

Sorry ran out of room, the above are the parent keys. So the parent key of A7 for instance is D maj ect..
If you want a more in depth analysis, send me a message with your email and I will try to be a little more complete.
I guess that you are about to play this tune or something? Anyhow you can always contact me for more info...
Keep playing
