  • nice beautiful music

  • You have a nice, easy flow to the head and your changes were smooth and right on. You've done some serious listening and it shows. Very nicely done!

  • cool : )

  • awesome.

  • Amazing Cover!, thanks for posting this

  • like your phrases! very nice!

  • Very awesome. Sounds very precise and natural at the same time. Love it!

  • hey, my names Casey, and i was wondering if you were playing over a track that just had the chords. i'm auditioning for a music school with this piece, and this video has been very helpful to me. so thank you for that. but again, i just wanted to know if you were playing over a track, and if so, where could i find it.

  • Metheny-style ;D

  • Very nice mate, some fantastic licks in your playing.

  • super

  • EXCELLENT B.

  • @d0115042 ah, I know what you mean now. Hope the audition goes well for you.

    Is it for music school?

  • @d0115042 that's right. I used a backing track on this.

But most of the time when I am practicing I just use a metronome, I then have to spell the changes in a more succinct manner.

  • Wow this amazing, such tasty bop chops

  • @BringBackBlues Thanks mate! You are no slouch on the guitar either, for anyone reading this, head over to this guy's YouTube page for some amazing playing!!

  • Nice. I like to hear more attack on the head, but that's just me.

  • Great job. Very enjoyable to listen to. As oorzech said, I too wish I could "practise" like that.

  • Thanks for the comment :-)

  • I wish I could 'practice' like that ;) Good job!

  • No need to apologize to Mr. Parker, I thought you did him proud!

  • wich pickups do you have dude?

    however...you're awesome!

  • The pickup is a Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup.

    Thanks for the comments =)

  • hello very good nice

  • thanks man!! :-)

  • Very well played, this effect is so good!!

    It´s a Gibson?

    Thank you for the music.

  • Hi the guitar was built for me, but it's starting to fall to bits now.

  • Love the sliding thing you do. Nice effect and Really well played!

    Regards,

    R~

  • I don't even think you need to apologize to parker, some sleek playing there, lets meet up in nyc and jazz it up in a couple of years!

    -Daniel

  • Wonderful played! I'm working on this tune now a days at my music-school in Norway. I'll play it next week on my semester-exam. I still got some small troubles with the impros, even thou I've worked on it for a good while now. They do not run as smoothly as yours. You play fantastic in this tune. Your impros impress me!

  • Thanks for the comments djounass, are you recording your performance? If you are, please upload it!

  • Damn, I just can't stop listening to this vid... it's so soothing, and it still makes me jealous that I'm not just as good as this yet xD I'm 17, just picked up the arts of guitar... It's kinda do-able, but I think it will take a looong looong time to play like this xD

  • Thanks man!! I've been listening to your amazing piano playing, I really enjoyed the tunes, very well played too...

You must post some guitar stuff up as well, I'd love to hear that!

  • Oh, did I mention that you did a fantastic job? Nice tone :D

  • Thanks very much man!!! :) Merry Christmas to you!

  • fantastic sound and beautiful touch... you are great!!! my compliment friend!!!

  • Wow!! Thanks for the comment! Really cool thing to say man! :-)

  • dude, you're amazing. i like your playing.

  • Hey Chrisfur thanks for the comments :) I really, really appreciate it..

I checked out your vid, it was cool as hell man!!!! Keep it up

  • thanks man, but if mine was cool as hell then yours is god like.

  • Playing music is not about the notes or the execution of the playing or any other kinda bollocks. It's about the fun and all the unquantifiable stuff that you get from it, I know that it sounds kinda cheesy..

  • yeah true, you're right. i do have fun playing guitar.

  • really great playing!

did you have the solo written out or were you improvising?

    great either way though!

  • Thanks jgjrgjr, nope that was improvised. I have played the tune lots and lots. :)

  • Love Your sound and ideas! If you don't mind me asking, what guitar and amp are You using?

  • Hey, thanks the comment :)

The guitar is a no-name guitar that was made for me, it has a Seymour Duncan jazz pickup in the neck. The Amp is an AER, I normally don't use effects but there is some delay on this.

    What guitar do you play?

  • I want a guitar made for me ._.

  • Yea, Bird is the cat! You are smokin.

  • Thanks very much nakim :)

  • Really nice, I would like to play with this fluidity!

    Congratulations

    Franck

  • Cheers :) Thanks very much!!!!!

  • Smooth as a flat-wound third and then some. Your phrasing flows like melted honey; a delight to hear this number played so fluently. I don't see where you 'struggle' too much though!

    Thanks for this Dan.

    Regards John

  • Geniale! Good work jazzman :)

  • Hey! Nice!

Which scales do you use on the A and B part? I need help you see:P

  • I'm thinking more of the chords/arpeggios rather than the scales. Using this approach you can describe the chords that you are playing over much easily.

Think of playing small fragments of the arpeggios over the each chord and then link these together. It is kinda hard to do this (I struggle as you can see from this vid!)

Scale wise think of the tonal center of each section. A section is mostly F Maj, with a ii V in G in the middle and the B section has A7=Dmaj D7=Gmaj G7=Cmaj C7=Fmaj

  • Sorry ran out of room, the above are the parent keys. So the parent key of A7 for instance is D maj ect..

If you want a more in depth analysis, send me a message with your email and I will try to be a little more complete.

I guess that you are about to play this tune or something? Anyhow you can always contact me for more info...

    Keep playing

  • Awesome work on this song by the way dangreenwood.

  • I do mediocre improv to this song, but I like to take advantage of the Dorian mode (D7= A Dorian, C7= G Dorian etc). I don't handle very well with Mixlodinian mode.

  • Thanks!! :)

Hey Eformal, try using triads over the tune.. :)

  • Great playing ,excellent phrasing and chops,it sounds as if you're using compression on your sound is that so? Gives a nice punch to the sound, very tight and good timing, very good flow of musical ideas, greets Vic,check out my playing when you have time.

  • I don't use compression, it would have been the camera I think. The guitar kinda sounds compressed too with the way that I pick (I don't think that it is all to do with the way I pick though)..

I use the blunt edge of the plectrum, for me it sounds mellower than the pointed edge.

Thanks for great comment Jazzguts, I'm heading over to your page right now!!

  • Sweet guitar and tone! so nice too see someone play so tight and smooth.

  • Very tasty Mr Nas, jazzin' ace!

  • Ace playing. But I've come to expect that from you...

    far too quiet, though.

  • Very Good... BeBop is not easy but your playing is "in"... More more more !!!

    Happy new year.
