All of his CDs have something special, I just gave a few general recommendations. SBM is only one of 13 albums he has released over a 25 year period. I've heard all of his stuff over that time frame, it's all good. Telling a guy to only listen to 1 album is like eating only apples -- theres a LOT of other food out there to be experienced.

Satch's new albums aren't bad, but I'd love another one with Crystal Planet's feel. Lights of Heaven is easily my favourite Satch song to listen to and play, and it's a shame this isn't one of his more popular songs - I've yet to see him play it live (in person) :(
I also believe in Satch...I'm a Satrianist for a couple of years now...this religion helped me through hard times. Im thankful towards my God and don't take him for granted.
Satch is one of those guitarists who have more guitar skills, songwriting talent, and imagination in one fingernail than 3/4 of guitarists do in their whole bodies.

@wurthit Steve Vai is actually not that bad, he just isn't as good of a writer as Joe Satriani is. I've tried listening to a few of Vai's songs and while he's a great player, I found his songs rather unlistenable. Way too technical for my liking.
@spo0o0ky I'd have to agree. While I can appreciate Vai's great talent, I have to say Satch is just simply the best there is. His ability to blend real emotion and incredible guitar work into each of his songs while displaying an awesome range of guitar playing styles is unmatched in the known universe. He is quite frankly an unmatched talent at the top of his game -- the true meaning of the term "Master Class." And really, Joe is above that -- in a class by himself.

Anyway, I am a Christian and I listen and like Joe Satriani and have for a long time. I know other Christians that like Joe too. I try not to get wrapped up in silly arguments that have no point and run around in circles. I recognize Joe for his talent, his inspiration and to top it off he's a really cool guy as a person. But that being said I also like his music.

@wurthit Steve Vai is actually not that bad, he just isn't as good of a writer as Joe Satriani is. I've tried listening to a few of Vai's songs and while he's a great player, I found his songs rather unlistenable. Way too technical for my liking.

His ability to blend real emotion and incredible guitar work into each of his songs while displaying an awesome range of guitar playing styles is unmatched in the known universe. He is quite frankly an unmatched talent at the top of his game -- the true meaning of the term "Master Class." And really, Joe is above that -- in a class by himself.
