  • Fascinating documentary that shows big business and government going hand in hand and ruining people lives and country.

  • France and Bulgaria - the only two countries to BAN fracking. Hats off to them!!! Please sign the petition to ban it in PA. See below: 20 signatures in two days. It's gaining momentum. Be a part of the success story!!!

  • @randomstables i put the website but the petition didn't appear, is it correct?

  • @AnimalsRightToDance try again - this reply won't let me type in a url directly so it's no spaces h t t p: / / w w w.change.org/petitions/stop-natural-gas-development-in-the-susquehanna-river-basin

  • Please sign this petition and help save my family farm from contaminated drinking water. It takes 15 seconds. Please!

  • @randomstables this post won't let me type in a url directly so (no spaces) h t t p: // w w w. change.org/petitions/stop-natural-gas-development-in-the-susquehanna-river-basin

  • @randomstables ok, i found it by putting the name of the river and the word petition in google. but it only accepted people from the states so i lied

  • @AnimalsRightToDance that can't be! Friends have signed it from NJ, CA, all over the country... I think you must have gotten the wrong petition to come up when you searched. Do you have email? I can email the link directly to you. Thanks so much for trying.

  • lol @ the list of various materials used, "ohnoz, ground walnut shells!" etc.

Though maybe you don't want all that in your water even though lots of it is very harmless and I assume the microbial life isn't as common down there + it ruin the environment regardless due to the actual oil.

  • 01:43: "and terrorism", US is the biggest country of terrorism around so it doesn't make much sense. Can't see much of it happening in the US though so it can't be much of a problem for them. Just for everyone else.

  • i dont think its fake its just fucking cheaply put together

  • Become better informed. The recognized world authority on fracking is coming to north eastern PA. Make a point to come to marcellus-shale-exposed.o r g

  • Knowledge is power

  • @Crayzorder imminent domain is unconstitutional.

  • The magic word that moves mountains now is terrorism. should we destroy the planet to get gas or should we support terrorism by buying oil? I would laugh, but I can't this time.

  • WE ARE ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION FOR PROFIT !

while the world gets contaminated with depleted uranium munition because WTC7 fell into itself in freefall speed - after 1250 atomic bomb tests on american soil, CONTAMINATING YOUR OWN COUNTRY, after Monsanto poisened you&your seeds, earth, water & food with Herbizides, Pestizide, Prosilac, GMO, ethyllead, aspestos, amalgam, flushot, glatamate, aspartam, ritalin, chemo(kill)therapy, tamiflu. . . . .is 1 thing clear: THEY WANNA KILL US FOR PROFIT !

  • guy at 1:41 ....lololol omg he cracked me up.

  • So, what I learned from this video : to get your way...just mention terrorism....and terrorism.

  • @TheGavinkenna terrorism _AND_ child pornography. Don't forget. Will someone please think of the children used as oil drills in the Arabic countries? WE TOTALLY MUST DO THIS!

  • Have seen the entire video and it's quite frightening! Obviously, those in a position of stopping this very damaging process are totally rationalizing with 'we need jobs' and I ask, at the expense of what? Life without water? Earthquakes destroying this nation? Look at Data in Oklahoma and Ohio.

  • @msirma1938 As someone on both sides of the position, I have to say that it is about more than just jobs. Unless every facet of your life is completely solar or green, you are part of the problem. Natural gas and oil wells are a very real need in this country, otherwise we are just relying on foreign oil or we can all just live in the dark. *continued*

  • @msirma1938 *continued* On the other side of that, I live in western Pa, and have had our water contaminated here (and not the, hey look I can set my water on fire...it was black sludge coming out of the faucets due to fracking behind our house). The regulations need to be stricter, obviously...but there is no way we could run our lives or this nation w/o it.

  • @Sinsemilla4u One could consume less.

  • @JohanKH Well, that is an obvious given. And I personally do my best to not waste our natural resources. But it's a fact of life right now that they are needed. No way of getting around that...especially if you live in an area that rains more than not, and is dependent on heat.

  • IT'S NOT WATER DUMBASSES GAS COMES OUT FIRST WHICH IS WHAT IGNITES

  • OH BOO HOO some hicks water is a little dirty, not my damn problem, frack away boys.

  • @fingerblaster9000 stupid is as stupid says, and clearly that fits you.

  • @fingerblaster9000 Yeah, not your problem...until one day it becomes your problem. Dumbass.

  • it was funny that he said overseas resources....... and terrorism.

  • I don't want something like this in Romania! We are so tired(the romanian people) of lies and of policy made by some jerks in their money rush!

    Fuck ACTA!

    Fuck those who invented this!

  • Anyone know the name of the music in the background??

  • i dont understand wuts so rong with the water can sum1 explain plz also i think fracking is good

  • @DementedStudios9007 As someone who was directly affected by fracking, I'll tell you. About a year and a half ago (shortly after they started fracking on the hill behind our house), the water started coming out all black and sludgy. This was spring water we used to get from a cistern. *continued*

  • @DementedStudios9007 *continued* The company doing the fracking had to bring us a water buffalo and test the water for almost a year before they decided that the spring water still wasn't safe, and they had to put in a new well (the water reeks of sulfur now). Just recently (in Butler, PA...where I live), they have found that 12 different streams in the area are contaminated with what can only be described as a chemical mud.

  • @DementedStudios9007 *continued...again, lol* The idea and purpose for fracking is certainly good...just not enough research has been done to evaluate what the actual (short-term and long-term) effects would be. I understand it's need, it just needs to be safer and the industry needs to be better regulated. It's like a free for all in our state right now.

  • @Sinsemilla4u What says it can be done safely enough? Hard to see how you can crack the ground filled with oil and jam even more fluid into the ground without getting oil flows..

  • @JohanKH It's not oil flows, for one. We are talking about natural gas drilling. The chemicals coming back up are the same ones they are pumping into the ground. Nothing yet says it can be done safely enough. That is what upsets me. They jumped into this w/o knowing the harm it could do (and has done). Please don't try to lecture me. I work with the local communities here to try and stop this. I have had my water contaminated. I know the dangers of it, first hand.

  • i would totaly drink it and breath fire lololololol

  • 2:22 the fire looks fake to me

  • @will00oow It's not fake...and it's not necessarily from fracking either. In many areas where they are fracking for natural gas, there are already large areas of methane gas deposits. I've known people who have been able to light their water on fire before fracking ever came here. There is still water pollution going on though.

  • Howabout we all run this country off all that HOPE & CHANGE Obama promised ... or maybe we could use puppydogs breath or something thats " GREEN " or " SUSTAINABLE " ...

OR , we could use something that works ,, maybe like natural gas ! IDK ...

  • Guys, this is like "Super Size me" doc... We know it's hurts all of us but we still eat it; We know it's out there but still buy SUV's for a family of one...

  • I don't support this simply because the film maker chews gum with his mouth open like a complete faggot.

  • This Documentary is a fraud.. they had been able to set their water on fire even before the fracking started! the director of gasland said so himself during a speak.. which was pulled from youtube and vimeo very fast :P

search for "fracknation kickstarter" on google to see the video!!!

  • Anyone know what the epic music is called in this trailor wanted to know it for months but just cant find it anywhere its killing me????

  • Well it's not supposed to ..uh... do that.

  • I hate shit like 1:55 where they show someone asking a question but edit out the answer.

I know that would make it impossible to put that segment into a trailer-format, but I'd just take that hit because it has a very wrong air to it.

  • 1:43 Terrorism...Seriously!!?

  • THERE WILL BE BLOOD!

  • @rajifusama THERE WILL BE FLOOD!

  • 1:05 Thank you Captain Obvious.

  • where's erin brockovich when u need her?

  • Also I love "If you weren't able to do this hydraulic fracturing, how much more dependant would we become on foreign oil. AND TERRORISM!" Because poisoning your own people and not giving a fuck isn't terrorism.....

  • $100,000 seems extrememly low for them doing that in your back yard! .. Waitwaitwaitwait... Let's just go back to the stuff coming out of that guys taps igniting....

  • Kudos to the guy!

To be honest, I'm not sure if I would've just taken the money and ran.

  • thanks to josh fox for making this doc instead of getting those million dollars offered!

  • I am glad we don't allow that in Ireland :)

  • @InspectorAtlas just wait

  • You can live without oil and natural gas you CANNOT LIVE without fresh water and arable farmland this "fracking" destroys both.

These natural gas companies are what will destroy America not desert dwelling Arabs

If the founding fathers knew you sorry sacks of shit were allowing this to happen they would personally kick your fucking teeth down your throat and make all of you wear wooden dentures...

  • When the news anchor was talking about the gas company I honestly thought she was going to say, "They are aware of the problem, the just don't care."

    She might as well have.

  • @abouthysteria The response in politics always seems to be an avoidance of the problem, a mere "we're looking into improving the situation."

  • I like how dipshit politicians add the word "terrorism" to everything just to make it sound wrong.

  • @utsavman47 Don't worry, they will stop sing "terrorist" and just start tagging "child pornographers" on the end instead

  • Mr. Boren should deserve to drink a couple of liter from the flaming water.

  • How about we start using alternative fuels, huh? That'll solve the problem.

  • MORE POWER TO THE GOVERNMENT!!! THEY WILL PROTECT US JUST LIKE THEY HAVE DONE in the past oh wait...damn...

  • Yeah, water's not supposed to ... do that!

  • Heard the rebuttal to this video. Supposedly 2:22 was not the result of hydraulic fracturing, but the buildup of natural methane in the Colorado area and is quite common for that town.

Sounds like 2:22 may be misleading, but I can't say it's for sure.

  • @painet1776 It probably is. We have fracking all around us in Western Pa, but there were already large deposits of methane here that leaked up naturally. Many people in my town could set their water on fire before fracking. That said though, there are actual contaminations going on here (I have been personally affected), but it has nothing to do with methane. It's the chemicals they pump into the ground water during the fracking process. I dislike this docu b/c it detracts from actual problems.

  • Anytime someone goes against what the government wants they always sneak in the word 'terrorism.'

  • Every negative comment on this video is from a terrorist who is jealous of are freedoms

  • 1:40 I had to watch this part several times, because I thought to myself "no WAY did this guy just slip in the terrorism buzz-word without any sense, relying on the good old terror fear to push bills around"

But he did. This is Dan Boren. On the board of directors of the NRA, in the top twelve list of anti-environment legislators, voted against withdrawing troops from Iraq, voted against the Affordable Care Act, sponsored the "no taxpayer funding for abortion act"). How does he sleep at night?

  • @LibJibber It just drives me nuts when its preached on people who think like me, keep it to yourselves and I wouldn't be so against you beatniks

  • It must be such a fucking buzzkill to be a fireman with that water.

  • Which of these could they consider a homeland security threat?

    1. Destroying the natural landscape, water supply & ecosystem

    2. Bearing arms and defending said land from businessmen

  • fuck Dan Boren.

  • Woah, the south of England is included in this shit?

  • WOW at 2:30 i shit my pants

  • 2:22

Scared me like a horror movie for some reason 0.0

  • Another informative video on the never ending quest for fossil fuels- through mountain top removal, aka: strip mining. "The Last Mountain"

  • Holy shit that guys sink water was flammable.

  • LIBERAL CONSPIRACY I BELIEVE WHAT I WANT TO BELIEVE

  • @Walczyk In deed. Would you say you believe or disbelieve cause of first hand account's or because you've seen one to many video's of such topic's. Though with striking evidence behind each... I'd guess, believe the "evidence." ... or I'd say that is a possibility, for what ever evidence is presented, and say "what more is there to this topic?" Or think to myself "when is the appropriate time to act on such topics?" There is still much to learn... -_-

  • This is full of fallacies e people! Anti Oil and Gas propaganda, the fire in the faucet and bubbling water are not portrayed accurately. This liberal environmentalist propaganda is ruining our country! I can explain the details if you want.

  • I am sick to death of human greed and lack of fore thought in any of our actions! we think we are so smart .... our children will pay for our mistakes :(

  • I DON'T FUCKING UNDERSTAND HOW THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT ARE PERFECTLY OKAY DOING THIS KIND OF SHIT TO ONLY FUCKING PLANET THAT WE LIVE ON!

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!? HOLY FUCK.

Sorry for the cruise control, that is all.

  • 1:48 ; Windows XP? Really?

  • @domox4 What else would they be using? Windows Vista? That was probably filmed in 2008 or 2009.

  • This is a big issue in Ireland right now

  • I'm 15 and I realise that the world I am going to grow up and live in is going to be a fucking shit hole because of the people <3

  • @TheJameshaha youre people

  • @TheJameshaha How about because of certain interest groups? For, if they way to fail, I hate that I'm saying it, would cause an even more damaging affect on our lives Economically. But who know's maybe a little suffering is what we all need in order to truly move forward. ;-;

  • @JediBladeMaster

That was unintelligible, but I have a feeling it wasn't going to add up to much anyway.

  • @SoundOfYourDestiny Maybe I've seen one to many conspiracy theories. ^_^ Well, in any case, such oil drilling is sanctioned by the government, say hypothetically, government is influenced by corporation's that if they were to fail would produce large scale economic collapse?... or maybe nothing at all. Only the fear of such an event.

  • "If you weren't able to do this hydraulic fracturing, how much more would we be dependent on foreign oil... and terrorism?"

  • @kassasaur sounds like lets kill ourselves so they can't kill us.

  • @kassasaur Do you know where the vast majority of our oil comes from?? is what i would ask that asshole...Canada...those damn Canadians terrorists!!!!

  • @jsmith2899 Yes. Us Canadians run around with AK-47s and shoot those damn capitalist pigs.

  • @videogamelover124 Cant forget being so polite all the time, always running around being nice to people, to KIDS! Raping them with niceness, it should be a war crime.

  • @kassasaur the fak bra xD

  • @kassasaur Yeah, we all heard that. Thank you.

  • @kassasaur i like how terrorism is thrown in with foreign oil? is getting foreign oil supporting terrorists or just business with foreign countries?

  • @kassasaur actually we really aren't that dependent on foreign oil at all.

  • @kassasaur that sounded like the world's single most loaded question. This documentary is definitely worth watching. Streaming on Netflix I believe.

  • @kassasaur America is dependent on terrorism.

  • I saw this video way before I saw it again at Bonnaroo, way before it was mainstream. I recently made a cross country trip, and I can tell you for exact truth that this is actually happening. I to asked dozens of people what there water was like. It does contaminate drinking water. While drinking water can be contaminated by various things, all evidence points to these crooked scumbags having a free for all. Use google maps to see for yourself. It's all over Wyoming.

  • After he lights the water, "It's not supposed to...do that"

  • @bigrecexec Haha, I watched the video too!

  • This looks fracking awesome.

  • Put dramatic music in trailer to compensate for fact that movie is probably boring as fuck documentary: Check.

  • when he took the lighter to the faucet I said holy shit outloud

  • 1:03 Jarate!

  • Why the hell have i never heard of this/? holy shite.

  • if terrorism were real would we'd all be german.

  • Fuck da Popo I drink my water even though it comes out red, Its never done nothin to may thinker box.

  • @TheRoomy I'm pretty sure Mitt Romney is smart enough to outsource workers to rape thousands of children for $20 until he could get the costs down to mere pennies per rape.

  • @TheRoomy Obama isn't any different. He only cares about getting votes. Sadly, as South Park once put it, we can only choose between the giant douche and the turd sandwich. Money talks.

  • @RagingCapitalist If you don't know what Obama accomplished, then stfu.

  • well this is bullshit

  • The best part is this is going to do absolutely nothing in the stranglehold that oil and money has on our politics, government, environment, economy, and our lives in the US. I just really cannot believe there can be ANY people on this planet that would sacrifice so much of our safety and our children's lives so that they can get a little bit more money before they die. They're ALL going to die, and yet they still don't care what they destroy to get that money even at age 70.

  • HOW MUCH WOULD WE BE DEPENDANT ON TERRORISM WITHOUT MY GASSES!?

  • reddit... i think it is time to act. we helped slow sopa it is time to stop this madness

  • Comment removed

  • @soakingbook i think you mean of, not for

  • Burning water is nothing new. These people with the burning water have had methane in their water before any fracking took place. This is just another case of environmental extremist creating a cause where none exist.

  • @jimeast2 While the methane part is true, I dare you to come to PA and drink some of our grey smelly tap water. There is a definite cause here, believe me.

  • oh boy. in case you didn't notice yet: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. every fucking penny will be squeezed out of YOU and YOUR COUNTRY as long as some big companies can make profit.

  • Propaganda

  • Where is Erin Brockovich when we need her?

  • What did he use to power the cameras? electricity. Where did the electricity come from? Oil. What powered the cars? Oil. What do people use to run and show this documentary? electricity that came from gas. A lot of these documentaries have a biased opinion and use confirmation bias (look for info that proves your facts and don't provide a counter argument) when they make it. Lets have an open mind people

  • @ZachAttackVlogs You're right, we should destroy individual's lives in the pursuit of an outdated energy source.

  • @SilentAfterMidnight how is it outdated when it is the #1 source for energy in the world

  • @ZachAttackVlogs Clearly you know nothing about alternative energy that's being suppressed because of the big oil companies. Do a little research, you might learn something.

  • @SilentAfterMidnight Too difficult for a pea brain.

  • @ZachAttackVlogs He used solar powered cameras and vehicles.

  • @WomboMyCombo what was used to make the solar panels

  • @ZachAttackVlogs Other solar panels

  • What? You're water doesn't light on fire?

  • Did Someone Say GASLAND?! youtube.com/watch?v=pQK9W0juEYY

  • I came here because of jcov from reddit.. thank you.

  • Oh lord. As much as I love reddit (and I came from there too) I wish people would comment on the video itself...

Though I guess I'm not helping, am I?

  • Look at the way he looks up and blinks alot with his eyes at 1:56. Liar liar liar

  • That's Kassem G at 0:27!

  • And terrorism.

  • The problem? Almost all the people complaining, will still vote Republican. Because, you know, guns. or religion. or abortion. or terrorism.

If people stopped voting in those who cause them harm, we would not have so many problems. Wake up, people!

  • I got here by accident.

  • "And Terrorism" WHAT?!

  • As a citizen of Oklahoma, where Dan Boren (the congressman in the video) is from, I just wanted to stop by and say fuck Dan Boren. Thank you for your time.

  • @PandaOnIce

As a European citizen, American politicians make me want to jump out the window.

  • @PandaOnIce After i viewed Gasland the first time, I sent him a scathing email. He actually answered me. Please don't hesitate to tell that bastard what you really think. They have it coming.

  • Reddits reaction to differing opinions: get mad, and spam the comments in retaliation, proving themselves to be pompous idiots.
