I had a similar problem. I just turned down the shadows in graphics settings as they have issues with newer Graphics cards.

I can't really remember, there is an option for shadow quality in the options area.

I just made sure it wasn't set to 'full planar' and it seemed to be fine.

Oh, I had shadows off my plane was still pitch black unless I fired a missile or had the A/B unit on, that's when portions of my plane became visible.

it does on mine and i think i got a pretty ok system.. a friend of mine got a monster computer but it doesn't even run on his at all. However i saw some poeple run this thing flawlessly on an average system. You need all your luck if you want to get this sim. but yea, if you get to run it, you'll love it!

I recommend IL2 1946 over lock on. The dogfights are alot more involved as you can't just lock on to them and press fire.

IL2 is also much much easier. the aircraft of WW2 are not anywhere near as complicated as the aircraft in Lock On. Without going thru all the training missions and studying the controls and cockpit, you'll be completely in the dark flying Lock On.

1st of all, lockon, you can change realism seetings. however there is no verspeed damage, but you can go into a unrecoverble spin if you try a high G at high speeds.

as for the missels. your probly rightt,  but im not to fluent in the way the missels work.

I wouldnt say it works without a joystick, you can use the keys but it is not like battlefield 2. you have to have a good aim and ability to do many things at the same time as you steer the plane. and it´s virtually impossible to use the gun with the keys.

as a combat sim it's great, lot of action great models decent graphics, one of the best water effects i've seen in a sim, but the engine is so unstable that you'll never have constant fps and it has sooooo many bugs(even patched)that after some time it just gets frustrating.

Does this game have a multiplayer online following? I'd play this if there was a large amount of servers to dogfight on, at the moment i just muck around with the dogfights you can do in battlefield vietnam, but thats hardly what you'd call "Realism"

This game does have multiplayer, it's pretty cool. As far as I know, it doesn't have it's own server browser, you will need a third party program.

It's a mighty realistic game allright. It requires a fairly powerful computer though. I played the Demo, and, though I could only fly two planes, it was still mighty awsome!

I would say it's realistic. You need to look at the tutorials on how to fire, and all planes handle differently and weapon systems are different. I highly recommend getting Lock On Gold with flaming cliffs.
