You're right with the nationality of Bond, but he has Scottish origins (by his father) so the fact that Sean Connery is James Bond with a Scottish accent isn't a good prouf to say he isn't 007. Moreover James Bond is a fictional character whereas John Wayne was a real person...

@delta2ish You really haven't got a clue about Fleming if you think Brosnan has the "Bond look" because I can tell you now that Fleming's sketch of Bond didn't look like a L' Oreal model. Brosnan wasn't tough either. Plain horrible. Craig is not that much like Fleming's Bond because he's too much of a thug. Lazenby and Dalton are by far the closest to the literal character. Connery and Moore, despite having elements of Fleming, are the quintessential cinematic Bonds.

Connery WAS Bond- everything that is Bond from the catchphrases to gadgets to cars to Bond girls comes from him and he has THE definitive Bond film in his corner- "Goldfinger."

Brosnan was also great, "GoldenEye" is a classic; suave and smart, it's a shame he didn't get to make a couple more.

Moore had so many films and so many Bond moments- some were good and some were terrible; he breaks even.

"Casino Royale" is a to-be classic; here's hoping Craig can get it together
