This band sucks. Fake satanists with pussy music. I'm not into satanism, but I think songs about the devil should be menacing, not something you feel like putting flowers in your hair and spinning around. The whole album sounds like a bad YES album.
@marklfromtaiwan Depends on the angle you are into. These people aren't into Satan to be scary. That's for the poseurs. These people are enacting a ritualistic orgy in the name of their master. It's only scary to those who don't understand. What's going on here is a depiction of ritualistic sex magic. There are many facets of Satanism or Worship than just being "spooky". That's for the poseurs.
@joneslt She performed with the band but she was never a member, different female dancers were used during the period of Black Widow's Black Magic act.
@pasithespider I'm sure the girl is the famous witch Maxine Sanders, according to her auto biography she played a Goddess that was demonised and was in a rage at being made a demon so she fought and attacked the magician who conjured her.
thanks pasithespider is for posting this great video. Great hypnotic hard rocker and surprisingly good, kind of disturbing video and a very hot witch. While Black Sabbath may have been better musically, in some ways, especially stage show, Black Widow may have surpassed them.
At certain points this band seems really creepy. The solo here reminds me of Led Zepplin where Page would be playing solos over Plant's vocals. Maybe Page was a fan of this band. This part here is exactly like Zep.
Y'know I'm NO closer to finding this bass tone than I was when I first heard Black Widow.I know Geoff is using a Gibson EB-2 short scale bass with Marshall tube amp and stack but it's hard to get a Fender P bass to sound like this.
@toecutterr6 hey man right on! where could I get the dvd, its new to these guys and...wow! and the bass man, your rights, its a thumbing tone! would the short scale have anything to do with it? iam getting my first bass, a hag hb8 tommorow..and its a short scale :P !
@ipkussheppard It's the Gibson (EB-2) pickup. That hollowbody shortscale bass Geoff is using is great, but it's a 1-trick-pony. Only good for that deep jazz thump. Glenn Cornick tried using that bass in Jethro Tull and he hated it.

Aww mate, never seen any Widow footage before, and certainly have not heard this version before either.
Jim Gannon on vocals is really something to see here!
Been a fan ever since I got their second album from Virgin's in 1980!
Many thanks for showing it.

Yes, and now we have "In Ancient Days" here as well. I will not post the whole show, only parts of it - the whole DVD itself is quite an experience.
I'm happy you like this one.

thanks for posting, is Come to the Sabbat suitable to post?
ozzypossum 3 years ago
Yes, "Sabbat" must be posted soon. It's suitable. I have added "In Ancient Days" also - first 10 minutes from the DVD!

yeah I saw it, that beginning with the dagger is creepy, & that's coming from a black metallist
