  • Old skin, young Mind

  • it´s enough

  • And the rest is history! Cheers!!

  • beautiful, and I like the the way how he play it!...ps thanks to Muse....that's why i'm here!because of muse's cover!...now i know even Mr Gershon Kingsley

  • Very nice version! It has a Ferrante and Teicher feel to this!

  • he needs some practice

  • Oh man my idle it doesn't get much better than that

  • Okay, I always find this song kind of annoying, but he makes it so beautiful!

  • People who decided to live for music and became pioneers, are the most epic creatures in the world...

  • A living legend.

  • Love the changes at 0:29 and 0:39

  • U rock old man :) Epic

  • This song actually comes from an alternate universe where every object, food, species, and concept has a naturally-ordained theme. This is such a theme, meant for popcorn, that Kingsley managed to smuggle across to this universe.

  • It is a classic tune - We are lucky to see it played again in 2007 by the creator.

  • This song was played to me by a teacher at school in about 1983 (i was 6) as part of music appreciation. It never left my mind. I can't believe I was exposed to such great electronic music before it was even close to being mainstream! August is a Legend!

  • Beautiful reinterpretation, Mr. Kingsley.

  • I just want to say to Mr. Kinglsey, you are a true artist. This song is beautiful in every media in which I have heard it, from your piano piece, to a keyboard, to pots and pans.

Speaking as one artist to another, you have created something that enriches the soul and your work will continue to influence the world long after our lifetime.

Your name deserves to be remembered with Mozart, Chopin and Bach. Thank you.

May you find what you seek,

    Landra

  • @TheLadyLandra Very well said!!

  • Sounds surprisingly good at the piano.

  • Awesome

  • Thank you for the upload. I got hooked on this melody. A Japanese techno band called Denki-Groove also plays this. Their version is bloody good too !

  • sorry for the typo. Should be the original composer not composter. How did I manage that one?

  • Wish this was longer. Love this piano arrangement by the actual composter

  • I love how he simply just says at the end, " That's enough."

  • one word: BEAUTIFULL

  • One of the longest and greatest masterpiece ever made from a human brains & hands

  • Gershon is a sweet soul. I have had the privilege of meeting him at his apartment in NYC. He is one of the early proponents of Musique concrete in the US but still is fond of this piece of "popcorn" he wrote. Also, he is very well known not only on electronic music circles but in sacred Jewish music, having written dozens of compositions for the synagogue and the concert hall. His V'ne'emar is probably his most well known synagogue work. bravo, maestro!

  • DUDE THAT WAS AMAYZING YOU STILL GOT IT SWEET

  • thats an F!

  • He made that 40 years ago, poor guy still having to play it!

  • @Willium95 He's had a lot of time to perfect it.

  • @Willium95 i think he is still happy that he can play it.

  • this honestly sounds like some nobuo uematsu final fantasy shit played on piano haha, this guy should compose some music for video games, shit now a days im hearing is repetitive garbage

  • @KitchenerBombSquad This guy is the inventor o Video Game Music. Popcorn is one of the most used pieces in the history of the videogames.

  • My name is Gershon too Yeah @!@!

  • My name is Gershon too Yeah @!@!

  • !!!!

  • Absolute Joy., thank you so much for posting this and thank you Mr. Kingsley!

  • thankyou mr. kingsley

  • @Erif,thanks for your reply, like I wrote, mine was just a though.

  • Timeless music.

  • Really Nice

  • I do belive that this is the real first version of popcorn. Than Mr Kingsley made it the electronic version we all know. Just a thought here...

  • @saluut2001 fyi, he didn't composed it for the piano. The first version was made on a synthetizer of that time named a Moog (after Dr. Moog, who invented it).

  • awesomly amazing!

  • Can I D/L the sheet music for this somewhere????

  • Absolutly great, best wishes from Denmark

  • Great very very really good

  • Great version. Best wishes from Hungary!

  • is nice to think that this nice old man invented electro pop

  • @valerock667 Well he wasn't very old in 1969

  • @valerock667 -- He was one of the pioneers, not the sole creator. Anton Weyburn, John Cage, Pierre Schaeffer, Olivier Messiaen, Karlheinz Stockhaausen, Iannis Xenakis, and many othrs contributed to this either contemporarily to or even earlier than Kinglsey. But Kinglsey is absolute genius. No argument

  • 8 people hate it when the classics are played classical style!

  • that is much better like performers' of JMJ '.....WOW !!!!

  • Did he say "that's enough" or "it's in F"?

  • @dhaddox

    "That's enough"

  • 8 people can clearly not hear this wonderful music at all

  • Respect for this amazing man!

  • its hard to play like this

  • Hallo Herr Kingsley, sie sind echt cool.Ehre dem Originalkomponisten!

Hello Mr. Kinsley, you are really cool. Kudos to the original composer.

  • I'm starting to get into electronic music and Kingsley and Jarre have to be my favorite so far, because they pretty much made the electronic music genre. What other good ones are out there I should know about?

  • @Krkrbs419 kraftwerk of course lol

  • @Krkrbs419 From not well known artist my personal recomendation is Marek Bilinski, 80s east block electronic music with classical and rock elements plus one of best minimoog solos I heard.

Also Wendy Carlos, Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Isao Tomita (in case you are very fresh into genre).

I also recommend to look into different genres of electronic dance music, you can dig up there something interesting between loads of trash :)

  • @B1SCOOP Indeed, Bilinski is a very good artist, I have some recordings of his. It is a pity that so few people remember him now.

  • Eight people are Los angeles, Montreal, buffalo, pitsburg, st louis, tampa bay, detroit, and phoenix fans. (the 8 teams that have beaten vancouver this year in the NHL vancouver's only 8 losses)

  • @evileyeball

sorry but i'm from Montreal and i like this version. And what the...why are saying NHL stuff suddenly? this video and NHL stuff are completely unrelated.

  • Grazie Maestro !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can someone please tell me what this man accomplished?

  • @epiclight858 he practically invented techno?

  • @epiclight858 ever heard of the song popcorn?

  • Yes, Mr. Kingsley, it was indeed enough.

  • wow

  • Legend

  • Genius!

  • Damn that was moving, cried when the popcorn melody began. That man is a genius!

  • 8 people here are Justin Bieber fans

  • no way! that's impossible! my grandpa is younger and he can't play on piano :/ respect for Kingsley :)

  • Wow. Just wow.

Also, he kind of looks like my grandpa. :D

  • This man and song ar just so great! :D

  • THIS GUY IS AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • EXCELLENCE

  • the most beautiful version I've heard.

  • Еще раз с удовольствием прослушал. Спасибо!

  • better better better jus wish it lasted longer... forever

  • He's fucking BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Even better than the Original ^^

  • Master!

  • You sir deserve a Knighthood or something!

  • could someone plz make a longer remix of this plz. with no added beats or anything. its making my ears have an orgasm!!

  • Epic stuff...

  • Comment removed

  • @masalika Seriously? This dude pretty much made the first electronic beat jam and that's what you got to say? Cat's like, 80 years old...

  • @MrSteelDream I apologise for my insensitive comment, I clicked the cancel button after typing it, but unfortunately it posted. I removed it asap. Again sorry. I respect Mr Kingsley....he is a genius after all.

  • Mr. Kingsley: I'd like to tell you that Popcorn's Hot Butter version was the first vinil record I ever had. It was given to me i 1972 and I was 13. I immediately felt something so special to this music that I still can't explain it after 40 years. Then I read your unknown name on the record and just thought you were a Kind of God to music. I think this work is unique and unmatcheable by any other musician ever. It's an all time best music. Thank you Mr Gershon Kingsley!!

  • Magical.

  • I have to contradict Mr. Kingsley - it's not enough!!! maybe 1 hour and 23 minutes would be satisfying...

  • Thank you, Mr. Kingsley! The piano version is the best! I wish I could play like that.

  • I have loved this since I was 5 and now my kids love it, as well as my grand-kids

  • @RawrSirTerrance

my friend...what a song of nostalgia and the Person himself, i too am listening since i was 5...and can clearly remember . i am 60 born and have been Very passionate this and many other SUPER CLASSICS OF THE TIME. SHAKE HANDS FOR THE SAME LIKING.

    SANDEEP

  • I have loved this since I was 5 and now my kids love it, as well as my grandkids

  • techno grandpa

  • Masterpiece...

  • Kingsley is amazing!

  • Great music, it only saddens that people who call people who dislike it brainfuckers or whatever ... they did it Id rather read comments of the type awesome I like it etc. And not the SPAM...

  • Most of today's electronic artists can't even play the piano...all they know is sequencers, turntables and jerkin' with the FX.....as for this man, only one word: Veneration!!!!

  • It's even pretty as a classical piece. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us.

  • awesome!....fantastic video!!!..people like this make our world more colourful

  • seven F***** were born with no ear to brain connection !!

  • I didn't think it would sound so great on a piano!

  • Yankee Hat for this win!

  • simplemente grandioso

  • So that means there are at least 7 simple-minded fools who had the nerve to come onto this video and hate on one of the most amazing pieces ever...

  • @JackRoxYourSox yes, i don't get why 7 idiots had the nerve to say they don't like this either...everyone knows this song!

  • What a brilliant man!

  • THE best, every song i use in my game is Popcorn.

  • You're brilliant or you're not. Just like this :,)

  • all the people know popcorn song . You ´re Genius

  • Bravo!

  • That was NOT enough!

  • this perfomance sounds really serious :D i like it more that original

  • @piotrklys 87

  • Bravissimo!!!!!

    Edgar

  • wonderful-never heard this done so straight forward. and by the man himself. Awesome!

  • This version is amazing.

Although I liked the original one mostly because of how the staccatos are used. But they were exempt from this one sadly :|

  • a very influential person..

  • omg

  • this is the best version of popcorn. where can i buy this version?

  • I bow to his greatness :)

  • ha ha !!! I didnt see...Its the Kingsley channel!!!

Omg!!! Thanks for beautiful beautiful music! There are hundreds of versions of that.

Do you like one in particular?

  • A LEGEND ALIVE

  • oh stuff i signed in with me mothers account jennybrown53 lol.

  • L ! E ! G ! E ! N ! D ! I sure he made me dance in my mothers womb when she listened to this great composer.

  • That really blows the top of my head off. On the Moog it is groundbreaking electro-pop, then the composer makes it magical on the piano. Beautiful and over too quickly.

  • This song takes on a whole new perspective when it's played on piano...

  • Amazing. Thank you.

  • Amazing music. Thank you.

  • This may not be Music to Moog by, but it's still really nice played like this on piano. I might just have to try my hand at my own amateur cover version of this song...

  • The one and only CREATOR of this masterpiece.

  • well done

  • Hearing him play it on piano really makes me appreciate the musicianship and the fine music of 40 years ago. Amazing times.

  • enough? no no no Gershon! it is not...

  • best version. made by the creator of course

  • Awesome! Muse are playing it in the resistance tour!and it is also the b side of the new muse's single The Resistance!

  • I love muse and they have a great version, but this piano version is unbeatable

  • Yeah Muse did it awesome!!!!

  • Im used to hear the Hot butter version and i really thought that was the original. but now when i heard this is realized that this is an masterpeice of a melody and a epic song :)

  • amazing music!

  • king of the popcorn

  • This man is great.

  • It's an amazing version!!!

  • kinda leaves the soul of the song behind when you take out the flashy techno rave sounds

  • @5hinRyu

Those sounds were never original in the first place.

  • It sound so good on the piano!! it sounds like it was meant to be on the piano, but it also sound so good as techno!! love them both.

  • oh nice!! it sounds very funny on an classic piano! great and big thx for upload!

  • very nice...... classicly played...i think lol........anyways...very nice

  • did he modulate the key...?

  • Great!

    I love this tune...forever!

  • Mitico!!!

  • Bravo!!!

  • That was great!

  • This is so much sadder than the more popular version. It even sounds a bit desperate.

I didn't know you could play this song like that.

  • i think this sounds the best :]
