  • @012121958 einen "greatest bass ever" gibt es nicht - kann es nicht geben; einen Falstaff wie Terfel wird Tomlinson z.B. niemals gesungen haben. Aber als Hagen - und als Wotan!!! - ist Tomlinson unerreicht, auch von den "großen Wagner-Sängern vor 50 Jahren und davor". Mindestens seit es Tondokumente gibt hat diese Rollen niemand so beeindruckend gesungen (und gespielt) wie er

  • One of my favourite "evil bass declares his evilness" scenes. Hagen is such a magnificent villain, and yet he's tragic. Tomlinson is brilliant in such roles.
