Just Throwing it out there. Your facts are a little confused. We all love free downloads but they knew it was illegal they just couldnt take legal action because limewire was not actually giving out the files they were just hosting them. IF you read the court order it says that they did not give the files out. They knowingly hosted copyrighted files and built popularity through being known as "The way to get free songs"

All of the music that was being loaded into the system was originally bought in stores. Then it was shared by the internet community.

It was not being soled, it was being shared. This is bullshit. We need to fight these record companies, fuck, we need to elect some politicians that agree with us that programs like limewire should be allowed to exist.

Actually, limewire introduced people to new music and bands, and actually promoted more cd sales, I know i ended up buying more cds because of limewire. Because even though limwire had many songs, it usually didn't have all the songs of a particular artist.

@ukpkmkk Not really. In the 80's we simply recorded it from the radio on a cassette. It took a while longer to get a whole cassette of songs we liked, but it was a helluva lot better than buying a whole album or tape that had two songs we wanted on it and fifteen we hated. It was illegal I am sure, but there wasnt much way to police us in our homes using our free radio stations and stereos privately.

Youtube converter is also free and you don't need to download it. It's a website where you convert a youtube video into audio format and then save it to your drive. It's not illegal and perfectly save. So, there is that to use.
