No business is good. Business is about making money and not ethics. Ethics only counts in business only if makes more money than non ethical way.

So it is the customers who are in control of ethics in business and not the business men. Buy goods from companies which are not too greedy and follows a ethical way. That way ethics will make more money and companies will follow. At the end of the day if you buy the product just because it is cheap then you are worse than a greedy business man.

its not that simple. the customer is also engaging in buisness as much as the seller. the customer is operating under similar principles as the seller. He wants to get as much stuff as possible for as little money as possible. the seller wants more and more money, the buyer wants more and more stuff for his money. you might have ethics but those ethics are not universal to all buyers. so ethics is only going to count in buisness if it benefits buyer and seller mutually, which isnt likely

Wal Mart's key to success is based on efficient delivery, huge volume sales and penny profits on those sales. Now if people don't have money to spend ANYWHERE then how is Wal Mart going to maintain this? They'll have to do the exact same thing that their small competitors have to do to stay afloat: raise prices.

If Wal-Mart lowers prices and consumers are still in a saving mode, then Wal-Mart is going to have to raise prices in order to make a profit and stay in business. Wal-Mart is absolutely dependent on mass sales with a very small profit margin. If there are no mass sales, then the profit margin slips into a loss very easily.

You are assuming that people will always be buying at Wal-Mart, if that is the case, then all there needs to be is Wal-Mart and if there is no competition then there is no need to remain competitive. However, if price is not the issue that causes people to stop shopping at Wal-Mart then Wal-Mart will either have to close stores or raise prices to remain profitable.
