This can't be compared to the book, stop doing it. They had very limited budget and very little time. In my opinion, the actors weren't the problem (because I happened to love Jeremy Irons as Brom), the script was. The movie should have been at least one hour longer and stayed more faithful to the book. Yes, the Ra'zac died. No, they didn't include Elva.
Katrina and the Twins can be seen in deleted scenes on the DVD edition. Maybe we can hope for a reboot now that Inheritance is released?

This trailer made me think that the movie was actually going to be epic. When I saw the movie for the first time I was astonished at how much better the trailer made the movie seem. @Guillhez At the time the movie was released, there was only going to be 3 books. As the author was writing, he realized he had too much story to tell. He was faced with a choice of either writing one book over 1500 pages long or split it into two books. He opted for the latter. The Inheritance "trilogy" became the Inheritance "cycle". Kindda like Harry Potter part 7 movies, but opposite. Hope that cleared it up.
@Severezz Well here in Germany a trilogy also can have 4 books or more. It just means, that there are minimum three books with one story, just like harry potter, we also call it trilogy, not sevenology or some. So, maybe it's in america not the same.
It started as a trilogy, but the writer (Christopher Paolini) decided that, while doing his work on the third book, the story couldn't be told in just three books. So he wrote a fourth one and made it the Inheritance Cycle.
Just finished the cycle last week. I think if someone were to remake this film, they'd have to avoid all of the "Hollywood" crap we found in this trainwreck. It needs to be dark, brutal and bloody. The film just wanted to dance with the dragons and magic, whereas we need to get a grip on the odd sense of realism and development of the characters.
Peter Jackson could go to town on these novels, and even Christopher Nolen might be able to give it a good shot if he decided to delve into Fantasy.
I stopped reading Eragon after the third book. The first is well-written, I think, but the others are rubbish, uninteresting adventures which give nothing to the plot. And the world of Alagaesia in uncreative and stolen from other books. If you are looking for a dark, bloody and brutal fantasy series, then take "Game of Thrones"... People say the series also get's boring after the third book or so, but I just read the first, and it's amazing, as the TV-Show also.

So I rewatched the movie last night, and I have to admit it's not bad, it's actually quite good, that is if you stop thinking that the movie has to do anything with the book. Sure the books are WAY better, but try forgetting about the books while watching the movie, and it's not that bad.

@DefyingGravity1893 I agree I just started reading the series about a month ago and I an in the middle of Brisingr. This trailer does not give the books justice at all. Also Brom says in the trailer that Galbatorix will will stop at nothing to kill Eragon and his dragon, but even in the 3rd book Galbatorix doesn't want Eragon or Saphira dead because he wants to repopulate the dragons so he can control them. Sorry for my ramblings I am just am infuriated on how a bad movie can ruin a great book.

I'm reading the last book ( Inheritance) and when this movie came out , I watched it before reading the book(s) . Is it just me or did anyone get a sad withdrawal feeling after finishing Inheritance? I just got the book so I reread all the other books and after finishing the last one, I just keep dwelling on it. its not that you want to follow the book exactly, you just need to get everything you put into the film in accordance to the books. Ex Galbatorixes sword was supposed to be white, but at the time this film was made no one knew that, so that was an ok detail. but if you make arya hair blonde, thats were they totaly messed up.
Its a shame they messed up the story already, in the movie they show that the 'dream' Eragon has of Arya as Durza's doing, but in Inheritance they reveal that it was actually the dragons doing.. so the movie fucked up that factor..
The only thing they did right in this movie was the actor choice for Brom. He is exactly as I had imagined. Everything else, they basically fucked in the ass.
While reading Inheritance I thought I'd watch this trailer again just to remember what the movie was like, but now I remember just how horrible it was. Seriously, this is the worst book adaptation EVER.

So I rewatched the movie last night, and I have to admit it's not bad, it's actually quite good, that is if you stop thinking that the movie has to do anything with the book. Sure the books are WAY better, but try forgetting about the books while watching the movie, and it's not that bad.

@DefyingGravity1893 I agree I just started reading the series about a month ago and I an in the middle of Brisingr. This trailer does not give the books justice at all. Also Brom says in the trailer that Galbatorix will will stop at nothing to kill Eragon and his dragon, but even in the 3rd book Galbatorix doesn't want Eragon or Saphira dead because he wants to repopulate the dragons so he can control them. Sorry for my ramblings I am just am infuriated on how a bad movie can ruin a great book.

I'm reading the last book ( Inheritance) and when this movie came out , I watched it before reading the book(s) . I liked the movie , but as soon as I started reading the books a few weeks ago , I can to realize how much they messed the whole movie up !!! I agree they should remake it !!! Only Brom was played well !! And shouldn't Eragon be a brunette ? Arya is an elf !! The dragons were disappointing as well ! I think we all demand a remake !!!

@Julieerenalien Of course they need to cut out parts, but changing the entire storyline?!Seriously, I started crying out in AGONY when I saw how messed up the whole plot was in that movie..Absoluteley NOTHING was right.
And for each book in the cycle I have read, I hate the film all the more.
For example, Galbatorix saying : "Without it, I'm vulnerable."..Come on! Like he would EVER admit that he has a weakness..I'm just saying, they need to remake it all... XD

the actor eragon
the clothing
all the actors (except 4 brom)
the dragons
the armor (wat the hell was eragon wearing in the fight)
the urgals (i expected them to be minataur like)
the end fight scene (they attacked from ABOVE GROUND)

its not that you want to follow the book exactly, you just need to get everything you put into the film in accordance to the books. Ex Galbatorixes sword was supposed to be white, but at the time this film was made no one knew that, so that was an ok detail. but if you make arya hair blonde, thats were they totaly messed up.

Its a shame they messed up the story already, in the movie they show that the 'dream' Eragon has of Arya as Durza's doing, but in Inheritance they reveal that it was actually the dragons doing.. so the movie fucked up that factor..
