The Arizona legislature is full of tea party wackos who are more concerned with ridding the state of its minority population then anything else. Defunding the public schools is one of their tactics. The only way to make a change in Arizona is to get the parents and minorities to vote for candidates who will stop this madness.

I have been a teacher for 20 years. 5 of those in AZ. I am consistently amazed at how backward the system is here. We are told to engage and excite students to learn, and then told that we don't have time to waste on authentic learning. Az wants teachers to drill and kill our students rather than "teach" them. We will continue to be last in the nation as long as that mentality is held.
