@DannyOcean39 I agree with it destroying the piece for the tuning break, but it's necessary because the instrument isn't used to having the strings tuned up a whole step, making them go out of tune very easily. Just so you know. Plus, there is so much bowing to be done in the first movement, the strings go way flat from all the playing. (I am learning this piece, and found this out. Also that it's a bitch of a piece) haha.
@ellis12241 There's a very easy way to make sure, the strings do not tune down while playing: Just tune them up about 1,5 weeks before the concert, so they can "get used" to be tuned up -> they stay at the frequency
This recording is phenomenal! The overall intonation is superb, especially during the double stop section. Playing this piece has taught me its harder than it looks haha. More than the intonation though is the just the overall tempo and mood of the movement. he definitely nailed what it's supposed to feel like. I hope I can play it like he did.
The shifting at 2:50 is a little rough, but over all, the best recording of this concerto. Very musical and lyrical. This concerto is often deceptively easy when new player perform it, and they often make it sound like an étude, and not a lyrical concerto. This movement is the hardest to perfect and not make it sound that way.
Je ne me lasse pas de vous écouter a quand un cd???? Les oeuvres de dragonetti se joue tellemnt rarement, c'est un delice de vous avoir trouvé et de entendre.Merciiii

dragonetti has such a pickle stuck up his ass. you can tell it was difficult for him to write this movement because he couldn't put his stupid flashiness into it. dragonetti didn't write music, he wrote show-off exercises which is exactly why the cadenza he does doesn't fit the movement at all. he can't write slow music. blech
In all seriousness, this is a beautiful movement. Also, if your going to bash someone for a composition then bash the right person. This piece was written by Edouard Nanny whom has put out two books on bass method also along with a few other solo works for contrabass.
@Ninjamaggot8 True. His genuine compositions are nothing like this good. Moreover, Dragonetti's style is completely early-to-mid classical and this concerto definitely has Wagnerian elements (esp. in orchestration)!

I think is stupid and unfair, like you do, talk bad about foreigners in italians forums, but in those internationals you are not able to say the same ethier for italians or foreigners. why do you behave like this? Answer, but clear!
I think it's more about the wood the bow is made out of or so i've been told. I've tryed both white and s/p bows and haven't really seen any noticable difference.

Nice! do you guys use tuners in the orchestra? because I think there's one flute slightly out. Great performance.

I like the part at 6:00. It really distincts the family relation to the viola. Reminds me of a viola da gamba.

Dragonetti didn't actually write this, Edward Nanni did... it was simply named after him..

I notice even msot professionals use white-haired bows, but theoretically, aren't salt and pepper bows meant to be the iedal set-up?
