bloody numpties, the entire point is that you can make something easily with which to express yourself, not to carbon copy what he has done. This is an instrument from the early days of blues when buying a real guitar was out of reach for most people, but, (and this IS is the point) that didnt stop them playing or expressing with whatever they had to hand. :)

I took the pickups off my electric when I made my diddley bow. It did not work as well as this did.

I had cheap single coil pickups that came with a Squire I had bought. I don't think Whit would have used an expensive type though, he doesn't seem like one who would go all out on a diddley bow. I mean, he plays a plastic guitar and has most of the same equipment hes had for awhile.
