It wouldn't make the fret buzz if you use light or very light strings (they do have different types) I would only use it for just playing around because it WILL NOT HELP YOU LEARN. only for fun. :D
Man, they should color code the buttons like in Rockband! I think it is cheesy and for people who are to lazy to take the investment of time to learn how to play the guitar. Good video though!
I don't care if you're disabled, retarded or just pathologicaly lazy, this thing is fuckin' bullshit. The guitar is one of the easiest instruments to learn how to play; you can learn a C, G and D chord in an afternoon, allowing you to play millions of songs.
If an afternoon of practice is too much of an investment, then you must ask whether you have any business playing a musical instrument at alI. You may wish to invest in a PS3 and a Guitar Hero game instead.
Not many people wish to spend time practicing the guitar, some people might just want to sing and might use this to provide some backing to their songs. If you see someone in a cab do you chase after them saying why dont you drive, it's easy to learn WHY DONT YOU DRIVE.
You sir are a freak to get so angry over people wanting to make music. Does it matter how it's done, philistine.
I am fully aware of being a freak, thank you, but you reiterate my point exactly: so many people these days want so many things, to be a writer, a musician, a painter, and what not - and I'm guilty of this myself, for that matter - but very few are commited enough to commit, in the form of putting in some hours - if not years - to get better. Ours is a culture of distraction and endless commodification, everything always has to be made even easier than it already was, that's all.
PS, I don't think calling ME "philistine" is appropriate here. I'm the one trying to uphold certain, arguably "elitist," standards as to what counts as "playing" guitar, while you are apperantly of the anything goes, as long as you enjoy it persuasion.
I'm sorry, but no. I've seen people who had been playing for three years, and still couldn't properly play a G chord. And besides, it's not the easiest to learn to play, every instrument is equally hard to master perfectly.
Keep on dreaming, they won't teach those chords in one lesson, they'll teach about the guitar its self, the parts the fret boards and so on. I intend to buy one.
Okay, I took a few months of guitar lessons when I was 16. In the very first class, they did teach about the parts of the guitar, tuning, simple music theory, and so on, but I also learned C, F, and G major chords. By the second or third lesson, I'd learned D, A, and E, which covers all the chords on this thing, plus several. And this thing won't let you play minor chords or seventh chords, so it's like a crutch that makes you even more crippled.
I am a Music Therapist who is working with a man with Down Syndrome who needs to work on his pincer and palmer grasp. His fingers aren't able to make the shapes needed to plays chords but the guitar is extremely motivating for him. This device is a great adaptive tool so he can work on palmer and pincer grasps while feeling successful with an instrument he enjoys. I believe this device is probably meant as an adaptive tool for people who aren't able to play the chords, not as a crutch.
i've been playing guitar for a long time with only two strings. i only need one finger to play 'any' chord. of course, there's no minors nor sevenths, but it makes it easier to strum and sing. i've used this setup to teach quite a few people the basics of guitar, so they can concentrate on rhythm and timing on the right hand and the left has a much simpler job. now i play it exclusively just because it's so easy to sing and play with. check my videos, you'll see.
Thanks for your review. :) I saw this thing on Skymall, and was really tempted to buy it and try it on my dad's guitar ('cuz my hands are super small and weak), but the fact that it can't play minor chords at all totally blows. :(
hey i have that same guitar

For the price of that device you can get one guitar lesson from a guitar teacher who will teach you to play those chords for real.
