USC isn't on probation for anything related to recruiting; Reggie Bush and his family were taking extra benefits from would-be marketers who wanted to cash in once Reggie turned pro. Also, the NCAA investigation took over four years, during which time UCLA and others undoubtedly mentioned to numerous recruits that USC was probably going to face sanctions.

They couldn't even take advantage of a team across town that was on probation. Nobody wants to coach there. Neuheisel looks absurd. The program is in total disarray.
NO TEAM has done less with more: great location, great recruiting base, great weather, all the advantages. And they consistently underperform.
