I especially hate how school desks are sometimes set with an armrest on the right, and I don't even want to start with scissors. Are you proficient in doing other tasks with your left hand, such as throwing balls? Judging from you saying "I am a lefty" probably so. I'm a natural right hander who is learning to write with the left hand for fun, and after two months of practice, my handwriting has become decent, albeit somewhat slow. My guess is that it would be easier for you to learn how to write with your left hand than it is for me.

It's ignorant to state a person can just randomly change the position in which they write and show the same results just because they want to show they are left handed -__- Most of the left handed people I know also write in a different position, in whichever they feel more comfortable.

@vladisimo93 Are you left handed? Same reason their left hand in dominate; it's their dominate side. When a lefty sights a gun, they tend to look with their left eye. Which can be dangerous since all mass produced guns are for right handers. The brass ejects right which isn't a prob when sighting right. Now, my boyfriend is a righty but can see better out of his left. Uncommon occurrences do happen. Kind of like I write right handed but do everything else left. It just happens sometimes.
@phoenixsong38 There is a slight advantage there but to think and utilize your brain to it's fullest, you have to use both sides. That means doing stuff using your left hemisphere and right hand as well. Do more puzzles, learn a language, do brain teasers; that's all left hemisphere stuff. Creativity, art and music, and insight is right hemisphere. (Opposite hemispheres control opposite hands). Get a good balance of both :)
@Tamoto08 Actually, using both hemispheres is good for your brain. It can decrease the risk for memory loss and other illnesses of the brain. I write right handed but that's about it. I eat, cut, shuffle (cards), deal, reach...ect. left handed.
@velvetsnape in other words wee left handed people can naturaly have less memory loss and brain illness because we are constantly forced to use our left side of the brain because of all the liniar subjects in school so i guess left handed people are more luckyer than we think :)
I'm not sure if I'm a left or right hander. I've basically always written with my right hand but it doesn't feel wrong writing left either. I would love to practice writing left (and also doing other things with my left hand) but I heard it can damage your brain if you use your non dominant hand for writing. But I don't even have a clue what my dominant hand is. Any help?

@simaholic964 try writing without putting all the weight of your hand down so you can glide through,takes getting used to unless you already do that with the right hand.

Great tips, even if some of them I am already using. I have been practising writing with my left (am right-handed and learning to be ambidextrous...) and a few weeks ago, I've noticed that I've been writing very wrong (wrong posture, grip, pen etc). I was not sure whether my second attempt was the correct one, but after seeing this video, I'm reassured!
I have this guilty habit now to watch how other people write and I've noticed that almost none have the perfect one!

Even though I write left handed and can't write with my right hand my right wrist is definately stronger. I can catch and throw a ball with my right but not my left. @RibbonBonBon You're not a left handed person who does everything else with his right hand. You're a right handed person who happens to write with your left hand. Most people have a couple things they do better with their hand that is generally their non-dominant one. Granted, it's unusual for people to be better writers with the hand that is generally non-dominant. But handedness is defined by which hand you do most things with, not necessarily the one you write with.
@Monarchos its not because they are a right handed person who just happens to write with their left hand. its because everthing in this world is made for right handed people so us left handers learn how to addapt to using are right hands for certain things.

1. I cant write straight letters that way.. only cursive..

I learnt how to become ambidextrous 2 months ago. I shock my friends. One way I drilled it in my mind was to write my affirmations everyday 15 times in my left hand, I'm right handed; or should I saw was, lol. I also do Brain Yoga daily to activate the creative side of my brain more.

I don't get it. I don't fall under most of these problems. I can write comfortably and in fact, I'm quite praised with my penmanship. My only actual problem is my calligrpahy. I also always align the paper similar to the kid at 07:50

7:13 Oh my god, I used to have blotting pads showing that position. I thought them absolutely awful, it felt completely unnatural. My sister and I are both left-handed, and we got the full program. I hated being treated with special attention for it, it was as though they saw it as some form of disability.

@vladisimo93 Are you left handed? Same reason their left hand in dominate; it's their dominate side. When a lefty sights a gun, they tend to look with their left eye. Which can be dangerous since all mass produced guns are for right handers. The brass ejects right which isn't a prob when sighting right. Now, my boyfriend is a righty but can see better out of his left. Uncommon occurrences do happen. Kind of like I write right handed but do everything else left. It just happens sometimes.

@phoenixsong38 There is a slight advantage there but to think and utilize your brain to it's fullest, you have to use both sides. That means doing stuff using your left hemisphere and right hand as well. Do more puzzles, learn a language, do brain teasers; that's all left hemisphere stuff. Creativity, art and music, and insight is right hemisphere. (Opposite hemispheres control opposite hands). Get a good balance of both :)

@Tamoto08 Actually, using both hemispheres is good for your brain. It can decrease the risk for memory loss and other illnesses of the brain. I write right handed but that's about it. I eat, cut, shuffle (cards), deal, reach...ect. left handed.

@velvetsnape in other words wee left handed people can naturaly have less memory loss and brain illness because we are constantly forced to use our left side of the brain because of all the liniar subjects in school so i guess left handed people are more luckyer than we think :)

I'm not sure if I'm a left or right hander. I've basically always written with my right hand but it doesn't feel wrong writing left either. I would love to practice writing left (and also doing other things with my left hand) but I heard it can damage your brain if you use your non dominant hand for writing. But I don't even have a clue what my dominant hand is. Any help?

Not really,people would only notice if it's writing since that's what people usually base handedness upon.
do you explain to them that you're training yourself to be ambidextrous?
try not to pay attention to the nay sayers (if there are any) if they see no point in being ambidextrous then they
will eventually see the point when their dominant hand becomes injured XD
-do you practice writing in cursive or print? and have you tried writing mirrored?

simaholic964 @ shinreyzala no I don't experience an awkward feeling in my head when I write with my left it's just my wrist cramps and I always have to move he position of The pencil....other than that nothing else is wrong. And thanks for the tips ;)

@simaholic964 try writing without putting all the weight of your hand down so you can glide through,takes getting used to unless you already do that with the right hand.
was writing the first thing you did when you trained the left?
it was the first I did and I got that weird feeling when I started.
Also since I started getting used to the left my right hand barely gets used and it feels weak now XD
don't forget about the right hand so it doesn't go weak XD

just some info to share to people who are talking about ambidexterity and naturally using different hands for different tasks.
Ambidexterty is being both left and right handed.
Mixed-handedness is doing specific things for the left and the right hand.
if you write with one hand and play tennis with the other hand (naturally not forced) then you're mixed-handed not ambidextrous.

if you're the type of person that loses interest easily then try to go slowly and stop when you're getting bored.
writing would be the easiest way to practice.
write about stuff you like and/or doodle/draw stuff lefty.
brush,scrub,wipe,sweep,basically do chores lefty.
use a computer mouse and trackpad left handed.
I'm used to using the trackpad left-handed that I don't even want to use the right for it anymore,same with washing dishes.

Great tips, even if some of them I am already using. I have been practising writing with my left (am right-handed and learning to be ambidextrous...) and a few weeks ago, I've noticed that I've been writing very wrong (wrong posture, grip, pen etc). I was not sure whether my second attempt was the correct one, but after seeing this video, I'm reassured!
I have this guilty habit now to watch how other people write and I've noticed that almost none have the perfect one!

I'm left handed and have never had a problem with my writing or posture, I've always held the pen/pencil like at 6:22. Even though I write left handed and can't write with my right hand my right wrist is definately stronger. I can catch and throw a ball with my right but not my left. I play bass and the drums right handed. I tried to practice writing with my right hand but it doesn't work! Any other lefties like this? Oh, also left handed scissors don't work for me!!

@RibbonBonBon You're not a left handed person who does everything else with his right hand. You're a right handed person who happens to write with your left hand. Most people have a couple things they do better with their hand that is generally their non-dominant one. Granted, it's unusual for people to be better writers with the hand that is generally non-dominant. But handedness is defined by which hand you do most things with, not necessarily the one you write with.

I originally left-handed, but my kindergarten teacher forced me to write with my right. As a result i cant write all that well with my right and almost not at all with my left. So i am now trying to re-learn writing with my left. which is a huge issue since the world we live in is made for right handers so my right hand trys to take over. These videos are helping me and if anyone knows any ways to help become left handed again comment! need helps!!!

hey everyone! i got a question.. I am a left handed german. (always writing hook style ^^) .. I watched this video and tried it out by putting the paper on my left and tilting it to the right. However...
1. I cant write straight letters that way.. only cursive..
2. the cursive words are tilted to the left.. (is that normal? cos it seems to be impossible to me to write cursive to the right if i angle the paper to the right..)

I learnt how to become ambidextrous 2 months ago. I shock my friends. One way I drilled it in my mind was to write my affirmations everyday 15 times in my left hand, I'm right handed; or should I saw was, lol. I also do Brain Yoga daily to activate the creative side of my brain more.

I don't get it. I don't fall under most of these problems. I can write comfortably and in fact, I'm quite praised with my penmanship. My only actual problem is my calligrpahy. I also always align the paper similar to the kid at 07:50

I'm left-handed and I know the difficulties of it especially being the only left-handed person in my family,because by force I've to use right-handed tools.Another difficulty is the time when I was in school,I had trouble writing the looseleaf paper with semi-circle in the middle.I like where I could buy a left-handed can openers or left-handed scissors.

7:13 Oh my god, I used to have blotting pads showing that position. I thought them absolutely awful, it felt completely unnatural. My sister and I are both left-handed, and we got the full program. I hated being treated with special attention for it, it was as though they saw it as some form of disability.
Never had any problems with being left-handed though, and I don't understand why there would be one. No idea if maybe it was good for something after all...
