@eg7eg7 I haven't heard Bal-Sagoth or Virgin Steele, but I do know Malmsteen pretty well, and composition-wise, Roya Hunt is superior.

Yngwie is a great composer and did many great things, specially the Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar and Orchestra, but Royal Hunt is superior when it comes to arrangements and complexity. I really like Malmsteen's chord progressions and melodies (I specially like the heavy use of secondary dominants), but his compositions are simpler than Royal Hunt's.

By the way, songs like these don't really show Donny's talents. You should hear him do a Dio cover or something from Rainbow like Man on the Silver Mountain.

RH seems to spend too much time keeping the vocals from getting in the way of the keyboards and rock opera style.

I can't fairly compare Donny, DC, to anyone else because I am a bit biased.

He's a long time friend from the Pittsburgh rock scene and he's absolutely great as a singer and a person. We jammed together and even dated some of the same girls.

What you see on stage is the real deal, no bullshit, honest no BS rock and roll. He loves what he does and he's cool with the people around him.

He's also a far better singer than any of you bitchers will ever be.

Actually there is a new recording of "Long way home" with West in vocals like a bonus track in the live 2006 album. I think that Songs like "Lies", "Surrender", "Papper Blood", "Never Give up" are a lot more powerfull than other RH songs. And songs like "Far Away", "Long way home", "Epilogue", "Message to god", etc... West sing them a lot more expressive AND with more power than Cooper. I repeat... perhaps it's a matter of taste, but say that West is an "ass hole"... I'm not agree

Okay, I see your point there, and I agree, John West is a great vocalist, and not an asshole.

You're right about personal taste too, but I've yet to hear West perform any song in a way as special to me as DC Cooper, and I've heard all of those versions you listed. Hell, even Andre said that the next Royal Hunt album will be a sequel to "Paradox", and I don't think that has anything to do with a recurring concept.
