I think from just a tactical sense that open carry is stupid, because if a evil person plans on killing large amounts of people and they see your open carry gun you are gonna get shot first because they know your a threat to them reaching their ends. I don't mind and advocate open carry in the woods while hunting, hicking, or backpacking for protection agaisnt animals or the chance of a human threat. Just seems like in this situation it hurts the cause more than helps and is done for attention.

@smokingnate1234 I think your wrong on that point i think that if a person is considering killing people and notices people open carrying that person will be more than likely to leave and find an far less dangerous group to attack! and even if he targets the people open carrying first chances are that at least one of them will be able to stop the attacker and prevent a massacre, how many lives would have been saved if one of the students at Virginia tech had been open carrying. or even CC.

@smokingnate1234 one other point it not always easy to get a ccp,or cpl,license in some states like California it's next to impossible to get a CCP, or CPL license. "concealed carry permit."

Sure there are nutcases on both sides but msnbc did not show that there have also been black men bearing arms at these functions as well as white folks.

Chris Matthews is asking the wrong question. The question is, "Why do the American people feel threatened enough by the government to feel they need to show their ability to fight back and exercise their freedoms publicly?" The answer is that the government has not made them feel safe. And this is the result. It is peaceful. It is meaningful. And it points to issues in the government, NOT the american people.

Yes, I am liberal, very liberal. However, I do emphatically believe in the right to bear arms. Think about it this way though. What if some one screamed in your face and provoked you enough to draw out that side arm, point it at them (or even wave it around), that action gets caught on video and then on the nightly news...then what? You are not just exercising your right to bear arms you are using that right for intimidation and that's all there is to it! Get a brain!
