Touring through Manitoba recently, this piece came on my car stereo from my iPhone as I watched in awe the clear beautiful sky above me. And as I listened to this amazing piece - Compostela, Field of Stars - it reminded me that Oliver will be revered as a major figure in music and a unique contributor. I was at this concert, billed as "Oliver's Last Concert on his Tour of this Planet". There was not a dry eye in the church. Thanks Oli. It was a pleasure to know you. David Bradstreet
Just heard this amazing music last night on one of CBC's radio programs that I heard here in the Twin Cities. Did some research and was fortunate enought to find who did this. Pretty speechless really. Purchaed the albumn from Amazon even though I'm in the middle of a compulsive effort to give away so much of my music and literature possessions. No, this is new and I am happy to behold it!
I swear this is the most hauntingly beautiful violin solo, and I heard it on CBC when they snuck it in. discussing how it was the year of astonomy. It feels like being among stars...
I cannot believe noone commented on this song..it is so beautiful...he poured his heart into this, probably knowing this would be his last performance of it...and it shows...beautiful...
Amazing tune. Amzing player. I got to hear it played live by one of his proteges (Jerod I believe his name is?) at Hugh's Room in Toronto on June 13. Amazing to hear it live as well. I'll always regret never having met Oliver, but having met so many of his friends and being exposed to him music I feel that in some way I have met him.
Thanks Oliver. More than I can put into words brother. You have improved the quality of my life with your music.
