Man, The Panzerlied? I'd have thought that one more fitting for the steel legion, but certainly nut the Death Korps. How about you try "Argonnerwald" or "Die Wacht am Rhein"?
@BigAsylum They actually have a cross between a Stalhelm and Pickelhauben. Also there uniforms are clearly the German Feld Grau. Not to mention they hail from Krieg, a planet named after the German word for war. Also their Commisars command from the hatch of tanks, something German Panzer commanders had a habbit of doing in large scale battles of WW2.
@defreesj1 Yes it is... I got the Omnibus for it, read it twice already. Gaunt's Ghosts Founding, Saint and Lost, Storm of Iron (spin off from the Ultramarines series which is followed through in the third book), Space Wolves, Ravenor Returned, Caiphas Cain (2nd Omnibus) Hero of the Imperium, and that's about it.
I love visiting old German bunkers in my country. Its amazing in the short 5 years of occupation Germans build Water damns, the prime power grid, the national highway, huge wharfs, airfields and lots of big bunkers with cannons that could sink ships many miles away.
If it wasnt USA $759 billion aid to USSR, the Germans would surely have won WW2. Not saying its a bad thing they lost, but its a pretty interesting fact.
@Muhammedloveskids Well we Norwegians got away pretty easy, though ofcourse the resistance movement was executed, and the poor jews that was captured was a horrible crime, though horrible isnt a strong enough word to describe it. Anyway my point is that in Norway everything was built through private companies and engineer corps. There are cases of prisoners of war being forced to work to death but its not like it was in Poland or the slave camps in Germany/Austria.
By the Emperor, you will hold. Or, i swear, this will be the end of you if you turn your back to the enemy. Guardsmen, Death Korps, Kriegsman, forward unto death.
give me a platoon of Baneblades, This song on loud speaker , and IG tank crews with a blood line all the way back to Erwin Rommel him self and I'll be unstopable !
@Apfelschorle1975 No. Its called Praetorians(lolnothing to do with Roman Praetorias tough) and they are pretty much British army in Zulu Wars in appareance but they have been not produced by GW anymore I think GW even doesnt consider even canonical Steel Legion is more like Death koprs more German Appareance
Steel legion looks really like WWII german infantry (just look at the helmet) while the Kriegs looks like a mix of French and German from WWI (look at the kriegs helmet, it looks a lot like a french "adrian" helmet)
Steel legion got WW2 Fallschirmjäger Helmets. But the Kriegs are definitely based on German WW1 and WW2 troops. Comon on Krieg there's even a Dialect called "Deutsch" (Which is the German word for "German")
Their name Krieg hint at german troops for sure but other parts of their equipment (especially the helmet and great coat are inspired by the French uniforms. The Krieg heavy bolter from forge world is also inspired by the French Hotchkiss M1914).
@solwen: The coats were quite the same amongst French, German and even Belgian troops. The spiked helmets are MOST definitly German - as they were the only oines using them - and as in the Death Korps they were abandoned later during the war for spikeless helmets. Plus: the Hotchkiss is British. So basically, YES, there is a problem with your stamtement. German and French WW1 army were both source of inspiration for the Death Korps of Krieg - and obviously not only them.
Do you see a spiked helmet on them ? Their helmet is a total ripoff of the adrian helmet (google it, you will see). And again sorry but check your facts: Hotchkiss was french (made in Lyon by the "Etablissements Hotchkiss et Cie")
@solwen@Nervmichblossnet Yes, I do. From 0:54-1:00. Spiked helmets are often family relics given from generation to generation within the Death Korps. Some Soldiers even improvise spikes on their (yes, adrianlike) helmets.
But you´re right about the Hotchkiss. Damn my lazyness for just reading the excerpt Google showed me^^ Nevertheless the owner of the factory was American and the developer Austrian. This way - although used by the French army - it´s still pritty pan-WW1. Funny, if you ask me.
@Nervmichblossnet I should have written "austrian". thats the Austrian point of view. The name looks rather like Hungarian. Although sorting by WW1 factions that would mean the same.
They need to make a game in Dawn of War based off of the Death Korps and the Horus Heresy,,, honestly that would be an awsome new series to the universe
Looks like the only thing those guys are missing is a svastika on their foreheads or the front of their helmet. They look like modern SS stormtroops with fancier weapons.
9302420 they weren't in the modern derivation but the military at its core is socialist construct.your unit is as strong as the weakest man. stalin was a fasctist like hilter under different name, hilter was insane to attack russia they handed him his ass and heart to him. surely you played imperial guard a lone guardman a joke a platoon of them the hammer of the emperor
@Viursk i suppose they are confusing it due to the hawk symbol that they use, scince it resembles the nazi's hawk alot [besides the fact it dosnt have two heads like the death corps do]
Panzerlied was origionaly written in 1933 for the German Army, using a tune used by an old Kriegsmarine drinking song.
Contrary to popular belief, it was never a song particular to the National Socialist Party.
It is currently in use by German, Austrian, and Chilean Tankers, as well as the basis for "Képi Blanc" of the French Foreign Legion, as well as unofficialy by some motorized and parachute units of the Italian army.
@raedenjay The tune is from an old Kriegsmarine drinking song, can't find the name, though. Its like the tune to 'God Save the Queen' can be found in half of western Europe and the United States with different words each time.
Did you know that "God Save the Queen" was originally a French song called "God save the King" made and sung by common people who wished Louis XIV a good recovery from his anal fistula ? (It's quite ironic knowing the history England and France share and it also shows how a song can spread widely past his area)
Guilty... pops came from munster... legally immigrated, served in the US service 27years, never once asked for handouts or anything (most germans are too full of pride to do that)

I do not know, they look more like WW I Germans then Nazis. Well if you read the history of those equipment and uniforms, just about every one in the world were trying to copy the German style. (Manly before WW1, but also before WWII) Hell, even us Americans almost had German Helmets for our military in 1917. And we almost had a German style helmet in 1931 or 1932. So close there were 1000s made and some of our troops were already wearing them! I think it was call the M-5 A Helmet...
Ever seen the Soviet police? They look like WWII Germans. Also the Czars body gourds? They looked like the classic WWI German infantry with the spike steel helmet... The Germans had the best arms and armor, so even the Americans try to mimic them at fist... (The British were to proud to do so) After WWII the arms and armor was forever demonized do to what Hitler did... We refused to adapted the superior Stahlhelm style until 1988 (The M88 Kevlar helmet) do the symbolism of it...
If the US Army looked like the Death Korps of Krieg, and operated like them... I honestly think the enemy wouldnt want to mess with us... specially if our tanks can crush their buildings with minimal effort
We almost did many times in History... Look at my comment I said to the other guy. It is a very waterd down brief history on why we almsot did...
Also there was a tank in contusion by the Germans called the P1000 Ratte tank, it was a HUGE TANK, you would think it was made up from C&C or Star Wars! But it was "real". I say it with quotes because it was never done... The idea was get air supremacy back with the jets, then lunch I think 3 P1000 Ratte tanks with other tanks...
Actually only two was made, One had the body destroyed and the other prototype actually had the turret wrecked, its sitting in Moscow Russia in a museaum, if the test went well, the three cannoned massive tank would have been mass produced, and the Allies would have been beaten, it had bombs dropped on it and survived, took tank shells from Tigers, it bounced off the armor, however, it was a gas guzzler
@Blackknight1212 not in the least, saying that Im happy that monster of a tank didnt go into mass production or our asses would have been severely kicked
a German super-heavy tank design, and the heaviest tank to reach the complete working prototype stage in World War II. The basic design known as the VK7001/Porsche Type 205 was suggested by Ferdinand Porsche to Adolf Hitler in June 1942, who subsequently approved it.
Pretty much its a Huge ass tank with a cannon that rivals todays Abrams tank, and can do a quick follow up shot
The loewe (lion) and the e-100 are mayby better concepts because the maus has much 90° armor on the sides and its hard to do repairs on the running gear
The reasons we did not end up looking like the Germans or the Death Korps was 2 things. The fist was the lack of money/business deals with the British... The second, we pussed out later on...
Arms and Armor histories at the time were always pushing for the German look...
I hate hippies! Funny thing, the US. army almost had pink berets... SO many troops did not like the idea, they want it black ones... (I read this some were a long time ago.) We do need the Professional/fearsome image back!
We need something like the Death Korps or Civil protection like from HL 2...
Of those 'traitors' guys from XXX: State of the Union (the second movie) or the troopers outfits from Resident Evil Movie when they busted thru the windows
says someone who never in their life killed noone in their life. talking smack about liberals actually liberals are the warriors and generals that won ww2. so your assumation the tough and rough what needed, they are the biggest pussies of all
They were using their brains and doing things they knew were more likely to work. Plus, they didn't have a President or a Congress that was always sticking their collective noses in the job.
Seriously look at the tactics they used. They were all modern equivalents of much older ones.
I still want all them shot for delaying body armor shipments while they were debating their new "war" budget. Really all those fucking assholes want is to get re-elected.
What the hell happened to the idea that politics is community service? Not a career!
:P I like the look cause my pops is from germany, immigrated to the USA as a kid, busted his hump, got a job at 16, paid rent to parents when he had a job, enlisted in the military at 18, married, had three kids, did a full carrear of service, a fine example he is! Hard work, strong ethics, and I emulate the man!
the DKoK are for all intents and purposes German Look alikes. "Kreig" is a german word for War and the coats are about the only thing on the models which are even remotely french looking and that is usually only because someone paints them a dark blue. but for the most part they are in "german-esque" equipment.
maybe if u read my comment a lil better ...you would know that i was reffering to the uniforms....that means the fucking coats....so pls cut mee off from that superiority profile of yours.
they have clearly the unmistakable Sthalhelm (it' s adopted already in WW1)
and the weapons resemble to a Lee Einfied not anymore that a Kar98
Without offense (seriously) YOU are a little bit uneducated.
however isn' t your fault
this idiocy of the French Belgian English etc. elements in DKoK it is a diffused conviction and you have been "corrupt" (exagerated term :P) of it ; )
Thats sort of the idea. The Death Korps are supposed to evoke the look and feel of WW1 German troopers. Specifically, the ones expected to charge into heavy machinegun fire, under artilery bombardment, across a phosgene soaked sea of mud and razorwire
I think that they did the Korps thing on purpose cause most german words switch the "c" with a "k"..... and a lil thought to myself the Death Korps of Krieg could be stationed at a planet colonized by Imperial Guard germans :P
another similarity to the WW1 is that the Krieg and its death korps mostly fight in trench warfare, in WWII they rarely did that but in WWI the did it all the time.
As smart as you may be, it wasn't directed at wfcxtoxic, just the troll above him. Its obvious to anyone these are based off of WW1 German Trench Fighters. But I do get annoyed when anything GERMAN is automatically labeled nazi, its just as ignorant as the nazis themselves were. Anyways, i HOPE, that WAS, CLEAR enough FOR you.

Pretty much its a Huge ass tank with a cannon that rivals todays Abrams tank, and can do a quick follow up shot
Cavscout5096 2 years ago
thanks, so basically its like the Armageddon of the death korps right?
Blackknight1212 2 years ago
@Blackknight1212 Pretty much
Cavscout5096 2 years ago
@Cavscout5096
The loewe (lion) and the e-100 are mayby better concepts because the maus has much 90° armor on the sides and its hard to do repairs on the running gear

I agree what you say...
The reasons we did not end up looking like the Germans or the Death Korps was 2 things. The fist was the lack of money/business deals with the British... The second, we pussed out later on...
Arms and Armor histories at the time were always pushing for the German look...
255Knights 2 years ago 2
Well next up with the hippy liberal pussies running the show, the US Armed forces is gonna be wearing pink uniforms with fairy wings at this rate.
We need the fearsome image back
we are going from Doberman Pincer dog, to Pomeranian
Cavscout5096 2 years ago 3
I hate hippies! Funny thing, the US. army almost had pink berets... SO many troops did not like the idea, they want it black ones... (I read this some were a long time ago.) We do need the Professional/fearsome image back!
We need something like the Death Korps or Civil protection like from HL 2...

Of those 'traitors' guys from XXX: State of the Union (the second movie) or the troopers outfits from Resident Evil Movie when they busted thru the windows

says someone who never in their life killed noone in their life. talking smack about liberals actually liberals are the warriors and generals that won ww2. so your assumation the tough and rough what needed, they are the biggest pussies of all
jedimagejoe 2 years ago
Not really...
They were using their brains and doing things they knew were more likely to work. Plus, they didn't have a President or a Congress that was always sticking their collective noses in the job.
Seriously look at the tactics they used. They were all modern equivalents of much older ones.
karkkosvolfe 2 years ago
@jedimagejoe i'm not if Patton was a liberal neither am i sure if other generals were
in truth back in the 40s there were many conservatives some of them actually considered Stalin's communism more of a threat than Hitler's fascism

I still want all them shot for delaying body armor shipments while they were debating their new "war" budget. Really all those fucking assholes want is to get re-elected.
What the hell happened to the idea that politics is community service? Not a career!
karkkosvolfe 2 years ago 2
:P I like the look cause my pops is from germany, immigrated to the USA as a kid, busted his hump, got a job at 16, paid rent to parents when he had a job, enlisted in the military at 18, married, had three kids, did a full carrear of service, a fine example he is! Hard work, strong ethics, and I emulate the man!

If I was to start an Imperial Guard army it would definatly be Death Korps of Krieg.

Frostie500az 2 years ago
the DKoK are for all intents and purposes German Look alikes. "Kreig" is a german word for War and the coats are about the only thing on the models which are even remotely french looking and that is usually only because someone paints them a dark blue. but for the most part they are in "german-esque" equipment.

man0204 2 years ago
well that's because your uneducated. DKoK have french ww1 helmets english rifles and german coats.
Scipionyxsam 2 years ago
maybe if u read my comment a lil better ...you would know that i was reffering to the uniforms....that means the fucking coats....so pls cut mee off from that superiority profile of yours.
man0204 2 years ago
tell me where you see an Lee Einfield
and an Adrian Helmet!
they have clearly the unmistakable Sthalhelm (it' s adopted already in WW1)
and the weapons resemble to a Lee Einfied not anymore that a Kar98
Without offense (seriously) YOU are a little bit uneducated.
however isn' t your fault
this idiocy of the French Belgian English etc. elements in DKoK it is a diffused conviction and you have been "corrupt" (exagerated term :P) of it ; )
Dour888 2 years ago
With the added bulk in front of the trigger on the rifle at 0:32 it resembles a BAR a fair bit.
CacklingDoom88 2 years ago
you have right
but are a too generic caracteristic.
not enough for pretend to be a specifically BAR characteristic
it can resemble an AR10 too.
and however it' s a too little caracteristic,
not enough for "ruin" the german appearance (sorry for the bad grammar and for the repeat of the term caracteristic ; P i' m italian)
Dour888 2 years ago
@Scipionyxsam not exactly French helmets they're actually pretty much Stahlhelms except with the spine of a French helmet

dragonhunter1011 2 years ago 2
Thats sort of the idea. The Death Korps are supposed to evoke the look and feel of WW1 German troopers. Specifically, the ones expected to charge into heavy machinegun fire, under artilery bombardment, across a phosgene soaked sea of mud and razorwire

but, well i don´t really like the prussians...
Askulon 2 years ago
I think that they did the Korps thing on purpose cause most german words switch the "c" with a "k"..... and a lil thought to myself the Death Korps of Krieg could be stationed at a planet colonized by Imperial Guard germans :P
xSarpedon 2 years ago
nebe den Sturmtruppen von cadia, sehen diese Soldaten am besten aus.
Graphetin 2 years ago
another similarity to the WW1 is that the Krieg and its death korps mostly fight in trench warfare, in WWII they rarely did that but in WWI the did it all the time.

If your referring to wfcxtoxic, I have to tell you one thing:
HE IS RIGHT!!!
Believe me. I AM German and I DO study history. I KNOW hes right.
Nervmichblossnet 2 years ago
As smart as you may be, it wasn't directed at wfcxtoxic, just the troll above him. Its obvious to anyone these are based off of WW1 German Trench Fighters. But I do get annoyed when anything GERMAN is automatically labeled nazi, its just as ignorant as the nazis themselves were. Anyways, i HOPE, that WAS, CLEAR enough FOR you.
