i don't see how the springboks can feel good about themselves for this win, there were maybe a total of 5 senior all blacks on the field, and it took only 2 of them, cowan and dagg (but dagg in particular) to cut a first string springbok side to shreds....about the forward pass, i'd say spirit of the game should come before the fine print of the rules, and i'm a huge all black fan.
@ibanez250 I'm a bok fan and couldnt agree with you more... The Springboks shouldn't be too happy with this performance. It was a much needed win at the end of the day, but loads of work still needed. Dagg looks incredibly dangerous every time he gets the ball, what a player.

Which player gave the line splitting pass that led to the only try? How was this achieved? SBW drawing the Boks 12 and another defender to him leaving a massive gap. Perfect timing of the pass and the result, a try. Verdict? SBW is shit. He then latched onto a grubber, was tackled but managed to off-load but the opportunity was botched. Verdict? SBW is shite.
He's under-performing relative to his high standards but if that pass had been made by Smith then they'd be saying 'isn't a genius' shit
@Eminem117Nas Because they didn't have their A team either. If Jake White was still their coach I think they'd beat us more often. He had more tactical ideas. @markkielty yes unfortunately......... which is why i am very very worried about our opening game against Wales. They are playing white hot rugger and we are not. @RichieDcik first of all the all blacks should learn to not pass forward all the time and you have to admit the try they scored whas of a forward pass and the other try whas also nearly scored of one and not to mention the other bunch of foreward passes you got away with. plus I have never met a race who is so full of escuses as you kiwis plus have you ever met a southafrican that is not from the big cities in SA but rather from a twon they are so much nicer and friendlier than the citie ones.

All blacks will rape SA next match up just wait and see it! Good pussy win for the SA drop goals and penalties! pat urself on the back lol.. pssstt waste of time for my eyes to watch this game! NOT EXCITING..pure BOREDOM! anyone can kick drop goals, take Jonny Wilkinson another pussy lmao! but hey a wins a win ALL GOODS! Go SA bahahahhha
@Eugenep6 howd the boks make him look like a fool?.. they did nothing.. sbw was his on worse enemy, with a low work rate, its obvious he was no where to be seen but when he did have the ball in his hands he did well.
@Eugenep6 watever how? SONNY BILL WILLIAMS may not have been @ he's devastating best but he did have a good game with the ABs line breaks he created four of them with passes and he was also good on defence
Wish we had this TMO at the 2007 world cup match between France and NZ. It was the right call morally but its unfair when TMO's cant rule consistently in different games.
morne steyn never got tackled once the whole game the bitch!! this south african team are playing like the european teams... straight boring rugby always kicking and shit!!! but it works and wins world cups... GO THE ALL BLACKS!!!!
Yes justice prevailed with the TMO but you have to have consistency in making those decisions.. The purpose for the TMO is to check the grounding and the forward pass is none of the TMO business but the ref and assistant ref. So once world cup time comes, there will be forward passes that wasn't picked up by the ref but will be allowed by the TMO
@VanOostjien First off you don't even know what you're talking about, he had one bad game against South Africa in South Africa. He's only started in two tests and you instantly write him off?
@marcellin20 i wouldnt be suprised if cruden was picked, had a slow start to super 15 season but grew into the player we all know he could become and even took that form into the ITM cup, but yeah i guess noone would be dissapointed if cruden went, needs game time at international level though.
SBW isn't a very a good Union player.. he looks lost in attack.. Nonu is a beast and is playing great rugby atm and along with the lighter but skillful Conrad smith they should be the centre paring for NZ come world cup time... And this is coming from an Aussie!
Great referreing! both TMO and principal followed the spirit of the game... You know the game ?! You need to be a twat to see a forward pass and just ignore it. Congrats to the ref who had the balls. I hope IRB don't sack him...
these commentaros just prove once again the cheating methods of the all blacks...they accepted it was a forward pass and yet they still wanted the try to be awarded, i mean jesus get a life....
@mashalx2 they didnt want the try to be awarded but it had to be, the TMO only has a say about the grounding of the ball or of what happens in the goal area, they have no jurisdiction on what happens outside the in goal area, so because the ref went to TMO it was an automatically a try because the grounding had no problem. But if that try had been given it would have been very ugly.
iLike this AB team although they lost alot of excitement in the backline they broke Springboks line 7 times & didn't Conceive a try. main let down was the forwards @ the breakdown Slades kicking & not taking those opportunities but if they did they would of won by 20 as for TMO I wonder if that official will be in trouble for not following IRB ruling but making the right call cos the pass was forward.
@MBAXMAN93 again.. they are not meant to be impartial... that's simply ridiculous... you'll never find an impartial commentator.
and you're right, it was the right call, but it wasn't made the right way... it was the same as if a spectator jumped the fence and told the ref it was a forward pass, out of his jurisdiction. the tmo cant call on that and cant ask "do you want me to tell you something else?" that was grotesque (and not impartial)
well im glad the try wasnt given. All hell and riots would break in SA if it did. I could picture all thier rapist and murderers coming out in mass numbers taking out those poor south african 'all black supporters'. God bless them all '
that Kahui try was mean. I love watching set plays with precision and offloading... I also think justice was served here with the TMO's decision on Jimmy Cowens try. Change the rule, TMO's (If refered too by the referee) should always view for forward passes in a lead up to a try. Who remembers that obvious heart breaking forward pass to Micalak that lead to a try and a win when France beat All Blacks in the RWC 2007????!!!!!.... yes well, I can never forget that...
@Emirates419 No actually there is no way thats a try. I spoted 2 forward passes that the all blacks did, 1 of them they didnt show in that inition break if you look at 4:29 and 5:22 it clearly shows it was forward.
Great win by the springboks morne steyn controlled the game well. Richard Kahui and nonu would be a lethal combination no offence to SBW but he didnt really play well.
@janson84 - During the Apartheid era, the Boks were seen as the bastion of white supremacy and a symbol of Apartheid. As such, many black South Africans aligned themselves with the All Blacks as they were the only side who regularly beat the Boks. Even though Apartheid is long dead, there is still a small group of fanatical supporters who retain their "loyalty" to the All Blacks (so long as they keep winning :)).
I dont know why people are still bitching about the TMO on that AB try. At the end of the day that pass was FORWARD. Let justice prevail. We didnt take out try scoring opportunites and werent discipline. We looked dangerous in attack, our lineouts held well but our scrum need works. This loss will give us a clearer picture of where we stand and will only motivate the ABs to improve of thier game. Boks won this game through physicality and discipline and did well to play to thier strengths.
@ssrabits It must be sooo boring for South African fans to watch their team. How many kicks can you watch! yawn! the boks havent crossed the line in a few matches. is winning a game with kicks really rugby? I think not.
@ssrabits hope they sort TMO issue before world cup so the TMO officals know their roles and follow IRB protocols and ruling then there won't be an issue in my view TMO should be allowed to call on forward pass but atm that's not the case.
Enough of the B team bollocks, give credit where it is due. SA played well and to reduce the AB's to a single try is something. It was a win they needed leading into the WC. We all know Henry rested some players for the game next weekend. The ABs still looked good moving forward. The Wallabies will have to be on their game in Brisbane
I think the whole issue of the TMO calling the forward pass is arising because if he did it on this occasion, then every time from now on the TMO should point out all infringements before the ball gets over the line. If that starts happening then how far do you go with the TMO's power? You could say that a Springbok mistake made earlier in the game could have led to some of their points eventually. I agree with the decision that was made but I can see why there is some controversy about it.
@XxRiggieSmallsxX Well thats exactly why this law in placed...TMO's power before the try can be way too risky. The rule from the try line onwards keeps everything intact...I don't understand why the actual ref (don't know his name) didn't know that rule? Oh well whats done is done, good game nonetheless.
One thing is for sure...Australia,New zealand and South Africa will go into the RWC very confident. The other nations in my opinion will have to take the game to them otherwise they will not last.Bring on RWC!!!!Go Bokke!!!
Mmm us kiwis can use the excuse using a "B" team but aren't sore losers like that...Where were beaten fair and square all though the ref was rubbish and TMO stuffed BIG time...In all honestly, ABS should've won it, but couldn't capatalise on those oppurtunaties :/ Unlucky but good defence by the boks, I wish to see more plays and running from them tho. Seems to me they rely on Mornes boot waaay too much.
@abadeefun2 2 very clear forward passes in the passage of play. The ref saw it but decided to let it go and I think that is why he decided not to award the illigal try.
@finnstralian I think its bad timing to be a muslim when the world cup is just around the corner. You dont want to be playing on an empty stomach in a world cup
damn that looked like an all black nightmare 0.o.. also sucks that south afrika didnt score a try.. didnt even see a proper efford to score a try in this vid..
The skill content in this game was absolutely appalling but then watching the South Africans is akin to watching paint dry at the best of times. As a spectacle it was utter bilge.
How can a rugby team, league or union, win a match with 13 clear points without scoring a try? Laughable but then it is union
The AB's lost this at the breakdown. They were shite at the breakdown.
Someone tell SBW he's a back. He spends so much time near the ruck he may as well pack down with them
@chewblued your right we had two amateurs at 7, 8 not able to clear the ruck and protect the ball, and thats why sbw was at the breakdowns a lot because noone else was there to protect the ball from being stolen by the very dangerous heinrich brussow
Congratulations to the boks...to win against a B side All Blacks without being able to score. This MUST mean your world cup campaign is back on track right? Looks like 'Bokke' are no.1 in the world now!...right?
on a serious note can south africans be happy winning a game without actually scoring a try? hahahahahahahaha all blacks win lolz . i thought george clancy reffed excellently and although the TMO shouldn't have given his 2nd ruling on the cowan non try i think its a step in the right direction for the game. not a bad effort from the abs since there was so many changes from the last team now at least the 2nd string players have got a taste of what a real game of rugby is like
All Blacks didn't have the mongrel to win that. A tight game with 50/50 decisions going against the team, they needed to step up in the breakdown. Boks slowed the ball, someone needs to tell Cowan if there's hands on the ball, use the sprigs as persuasion. And if there's someone like Brussouw tracking and going over, a good shoulder to the spine in the cleanout would work wonders... Kaino woulda been missing Read and McCaw, working with amateurs
i feel sorry for kaino, doing all the work while messam and thompson no where to be seen, and when they do make it to the breaks downs, they dont seem to do a very good job at cleaning out the rucks. kaino man of the match for ab's, while heinrich brussow my man of the matcch overall, he was just, hmm.. how can i put this.. AWESOME! (lol couldnt think of anything else) gratz boks.
ab's fans shouldn't worry about this game, if you actually took away the score board, the game seemed fairly even, boks forwards dominating the break downs and scrummage, and the ab's backs making a lot of line breaks and atleast half of these line breaks should have been tries, but its always the final ball that is usually never or badly passed. but hey im glad dagg and kahui played good, toeava and gear were ok, slade needs more game time, sbw higher work rate PLEASE!.
This WILL NOT happen again, the only thing keeping the All Blacks from running away with this match were a few weak links in the second string line, notably Slade who should be dropped for Cruden.
I'm not taking anything away from the South Africans as there defense was brilliant BUT if the All Blacks has executed a little better they would've destroyed the Boks.
The rubbish call by the TMO MAY have changed the game, but noone can prove this.
The call was wrong and the TMO had no jurisdiction to rule on the forward pass, it doesn't help that he was a late replacement, a South African and that his day job is being a local school teacher.
I'm not defending the All Blacks loss, as it was there fault, I'm simply saying the DECISION by the TMO to disregard the rules and rule on the forward pass was wrong.
@taweraster Dont you mean the ref George Clancy from Ireland...? The TMO told him there was no problem with the grounding and then asked if he wanted extra information. The ref said yes and the TMO then told him it was forward. Then the ref decided to award a scrum to SA not the TMO - ref made final call.....
@mushuzk You are partially right, but the TMO never should have asked the question. The Referee was told that there was a forward pass so legally he can rule the no try, but if the TMO hadn't had asked the question then it never would of arose.
@taweraster Yea thats a fair point. I dont know if the TMO is allowed to do that but if you cant rule on anything outside the goal line then i suppose he shouldn't of. But regardless of this game i think more technology should be used to have more consistent decisions and to help take pressure off the ref. Teams should not win because of poor referring
@mushuzk the TMO should of gave that even though the pass was forward he wasn't suppose to go above the law on that decision but good on him i think thats how it should be anyways because games are lost because of the refs interpretations of things
We now know who our top team is. Starters. 1. Wyatt Crockett 2. Keven Mealamu 3. Owan Franks 4. Brad Thorn 5. Sam Whitelock 6. Jerome Kaino 7. Richie Mccaw 8. Kieran Reid 9. Piri Weepu/Jimmy Cowan 10. Daniel Carter 11. Israel Dagg 12. Ma'a Nonu 13. Conrad Smith 14. Cory Jane 15. Mils Muliaina ------------------------- Bench. 16. T.Woodcock/B.Franks 17. Andrew Hore 18. Ali Williams 19. Adam Thomson 20. Jimmy Cowan/Piri Weepu 21. Aaron Cruden 22. Richard Kahui

Wish we had this TMO at the 2007 world cup match between France and NZ. It was the right call morally but its unfair when TMO's cant rule consistently in different games.

BevanChu 6 months ago
Yes justice prevailed with the TMO but you have to have consistency in making those decisions.. The purpose for the TMO is to check the grounding and the forward pass is none of the TMO business but the ref and assistant ref. So once world cup time comes, there will be forward passes that wasn't picked up by the ref but will be allowed by the TMO
BevanChu 6 months ago
Colin Slade is fucking useless. He better not make it into the World Cup squad

@marcellin20 i wouldnt be suprised if cruden was picked, had a slow start to super 15 season but grew into the player we all know he could become and even took that form into the ITM cup, but yeah i guess noone would be dissapointed if cruden went, needs game time at international level though.

Great referreing! both TMO and principal followed the spirit of the game... You know the game ?! You need to be a twat to see a forward pass and just ignore it. Congrats to the ref who had the balls. I hope IRB don't sack him...
JeromefromSampacity 6 months ago
@JeromefromSampacity actually its the law not for Video Refs to go on foward passes all the decisions are on a no to yes basis
Eminem117Nas 6 months ago
these commentaros just prove once again the cheating methods of the all blacks...they accepted it was a forward pass and yet they still wanted the try to be awarded, i mean jesus get a life....
mashalx2 6 months ago
@mashalx2 they didnt want the try to be awarded but it had to be, the TMO only has a say about the grounding of the ball or of what happens in the goal area, they have no jurisdiction on what happens outside the in goal area, so because the ref went to TMO it was an automatically a try because the grounding had no problem. But if that try had been given it would have been very ugly.

NO NO NO NO NO ----hahahhahah
marcopantani 6 months ago 12
iLike this AB team although they lost alot of excitement in the backline they broke Springboks line 7 times & didn't Conceive a try. main let down was the forwards @ the breakdown Slades kicking & not taking those opportunities but if they did they would of won by 20 as for TMO I wonder if that official will be in trouble for not following IRB ruling but making the right call cos the pass was forward.

@MBAXMAN93 you said it.. ILLEGAL... thanks
tuco1213 6 months ago
@MBAXMAN93 again.. they are not meant to be impartial... that's simply ridiculous... you'll never find an impartial commentator.
and you're right, it was the right call, but it wasn't made the right way... it was the same as if a spectator jumped the fence and told the ref it was a forward pass, out of his jurisdiction. the tmo cant call on that and cant ask "do you want me to tell you something else?" that was grotesque (and not impartial)
tuco1213 6 months ago
well im glad the try wasnt given. All hell and riots would break in SA if it did. I could picture all thier rapist and murderers coming out in mass numbers taking out those poor south african 'all black supporters'. God bless them all '

@MBAXMAN93 since when commentators are meant to be impartial? what is this? jury duty?
tuco1213 6 months ago
that Kahui try was mean. I love watching set plays with precision and offloading... I also think justice was served here with the TMO's decision on Jimmy Cowens try. Change the rule, TMO's (If refered too by the referee) should always view for forward passes in a lead up to a try. Who remembers that obvious heart breaking forward pass to Micalak that lead to a try and a win when France beat All Blacks in the RWC 2007????!!!!!.... yes well, I can never forget that...

can any south african explain WHY there are so many black south africans supporting the ABs?
janson84 6 months ago

Mackanamara13 6 months ago
I think the whole issue of the TMO calling the forward pass is arising because if he did it on this occasion, then every time from now on the TMO should point out all infringements before the ball gets over the line. If that starts happening then how far do you go with the TMO's power? You could say that a Springbok mistake made earlier in the game could have led to some of their points eventually. I agree with the decision that was made but I can see why there is some controversy about it.
XxRiggieSmallsxX 6 months ago
@XxRiggieSmallsxX Well thats exactly why this law in placed...TMO's power before the try can be way too risky. The rule from the try line onwards keeps everything intact...I don't understand why the actual ref (don't know his name) didn't know that rule? Oh well whats done is done, good game nonetheless.
nik3sz 6 months ago

He spends so much time near the ruck he may as well pack down with them
chewblued 6 months ago
@chewblued your right we had two amateurs at 7, 8 not able to clear the ruck and protect the ball, and thats why sbw was at the breakdowns a lot because noone else was there to protect the ball from being stolen by the very dangerous heinrich brussow

on a serious note can south africans be happy winning a game without actually scoring a try? hahahahahahahaha all blacks win lolz . i thought george clancy reffed excellently and although the TMO shouldn't have given his 2nd ruling on the cowan non try i think its a step in the right direction for the game. not a bad effort from the abs since there was so many changes from the last team now at least the 2nd string players have got a taste of what a real game of rugby is like
gizarangi 6 months ago
All Blacks didn't have the mongrel to win that. A tight game with 50/50 decisions going against the team, they needed to step up in the breakdown. Boks slowed the ball, someone needs to tell Cowan if there's hands on the ball, use the sprigs as persuasion. And if there's someone like Brussouw tracking and going over, a good shoulder to the spine in the cleanout would work wonders... Kaino woulda been missing Read and McCaw, working with amateurs

AWESOME! (lol couldnt think of anything else) gratz boks.
hoppa069 6 months ago
ab's fans shouldn't worry about this game, if you actually took away the score board, the game seemed fairly even, boks forwards dominating the break downs and scrummage, and the ab's backs making a lot of line breaks and atleast half of these line breaks should have been tries, but its always the final ball that is usually never or badly passed. but hey im glad dagg and kahui played good, toeava and gear were ok, slade needs more game time, sbw higher work rate PLEASE!.
hoppa069 6 months ago
TMO should be neutral.......as a South African he just couldn't help himself. No matter what decision was given one team would have felt cheated
Aussiephil99 6 months ago 2
This WILL NOT happen again, the only thing keeping the All Blacks from running away with this match were a few weak links in the second string line, notably Slade who should be dropped for Cruden.
I'm not taking anything away from the South Africans as there defense was brilliant BUT if the All Blacks has executed a little better they would've destroyed the Boks.
My opinion.
taweraster 6 months ago
The rubbish call by the TMO MAY have changed the game, but noone can prove this.
The call was wrong and the TMO had no jurisdiction to rule on the forward pass, it doesn't help that he was a late replacement, a South African and that his day job is being a local school teacher.
I'm not defending the All Blacks loss, as it was there fault, I'm simply saying the DECISION by the TMO to disregard the rules and rule on the forward pass was wrong.
taweraster 6 months ago
@taweraster You need to open your eyes, it was forward, you SORE-LOSER!
watawatan0w 6 months ago
@watawatan0w I think you misinterpreted my post, I clearly confirmed that it was forward.
taweraster 6 months ago
@taweraster Dont you mean the ref George Clancy from Ireland...? The TMO told him there was no problem with the grounding and then asked if he wanted extra information. The ref said yes and the TMO then told him it was forward. Then the ref decided to award a scrum to SA not the TMO - ref made final call.....
mushuzk 6 months ago
@mushuzk You are partially right, but the TMO never should have asked the question. The Referee was told that there was a forward pass so legally he can rule the no try, but if the TMO hadn't had asked the question then it never would of arose.
taweraster 6 months ago
@taweraster Yea thats a fair point. I dont know if the TMO is allowed to do that but if you cant rule on anything outside the goal line then i suppose he shouldn't of. But regardless of this game i think more technology should be used to have more consistent decisions and to help take pressure off the ref. Teams should not win because of poor referring
mushuzk 6 months ago
@mushuzk the TMO should of gave that even though the pass was forward he wasn't suppose to go above the law on that decision but good on him i think thats how it should be anyways because games are lost because of the refs interpretations of things
