Billy Preston produced it.I is one of the all time unheralded great albums ,mysterious, lots of people know about it, ,few have it, It shoulda been reissued a long time ago.i bought it in Germany in 1976 I think, lent it to a buddy he transferred to the states with it.I been wanting it again ever since.
We must thank George Harrison from the Beatles for this. This Album came out on his label. He made great music and knew great music when he heard it. This song for some reason brings tears to my eyes. Still does and always has.
A mate of mine bought this album when it was 1st released and when I heard it just blew me away. The harmonies are just so unbelievably good - absolutely astounding. About 10 years later I found a copy of my own - in mint condition in a tiny record shop in Dublin when I was on holiday there. Made my year! Glad to see this on youtube. This is GREAT soul music!
Thank you heyroz27! I can sing and play my flute again. This music helped mold my character, musically and spiritually. Albums were still 3.99-4.99 and we went every payday. You read who was on the album, didn't have to hear it and it was in the collection. These guys came back from Bahia and tore it up. Then disco happened. Keni is a helluva bass player and writer. Thanks again heryoz27.
For me 2nd Resurrection is at the top of the list of lost classics of the 70's. This album should have been huge...It should get the full"upon further review" treatment with extensive packaging and extra tracks....Cover imaging completely mis represented the music
I saw them as a 11 year-older and was instantly in love with all of them. They were and still are fiiiiinnnne! One of the most underrated powerfully multi-talented family acts! I had their albums, plus Keni's who was the breakout brother in the group! I will forever love them!
This was one of my favorites albums ever ever ever! I found it on line, going to order. Wow, Tell me Why - still sounds fantastic today as it did yesterday. Looking for Graham Central Station too.
I purchase this "album" when it 1st came out. I was a senior in high school then. Someone stole it from me in the 80's. I finally found all of the tunes on line. Don't ask me how I found them, but I did. The world is in order again, because the Stairsteps are on my Ipod...:):)
The music industry will surely have to recognize their greatness one day. Then the world will be right.
Without a doubt, this has to be their best alblum (apart from the Greatest Hits). Moody, Spirtual, and some of the best Bass work track for track that you'll ever hear on one alblum. Billy Preston on keyboards and the Stairsteps handling most of the guitar work. I agree that this is a "Classic" alblum that hasn't got it's due. (And it's still fresh after 34 yrs.)
I agree. The Stairsteps were always an ace group, but this stunning and complex album still sounds relevant today, and was very much in the avant-garde of black music group recordings at the time of it's release (1976) Totally underrated.
@sameeh109 i'm up on 5 stairsteps HOWEVER, i've never heard this audio ecstasy that is the 2nd resurrection!!! WHEW!!! each joint i listened to thus far is MAGIC!!!
DITTO, DITTO,DITTO!!!!! Only if they would have fought the fight and stayed true to their music. The music business is a mother...Most of them don't know real music..
This group didn't get the recognition they should have. They were way ahead of their time. You won't find groups like this anymore! I really enjoyed them when I was in Jr High School, back in the day. I'm so glad I found their music on youtube. This particular selection reminds of the Brothers Johnson; who also were great back in the day.
HeyRoz27, I just got off the phone with Keni Burke, who incidentally is back in the studio. You have to be the only person we know of with a clean copy of this album. Please post
Damn, this album takes me back. It's at the top of my list of all time greatest soul albums.

These guys were around longer than the Jacksons, but these guys definitely did not get their just due respect. They were incredible. Period.

The Pockets re-did this song "Tell Me Why" and the song Pasado from this song. I prefer The Pockets version on this song.
