  • When I first heard Dorothy Moore's version of this I knew it was a country song (or should be)...so this is the orginal?

  • Wilma was my first cousin and An Amazing singer and was very loved we miss her a ton

  • I've been a fan of Dorothy Moore's version of this song for years and only found out, literally tonight, that this is the original version - I love her voice and how unique the two versions sound. Great music!

  • Most beautiful version of Misty Blue.

  • @wiswain My wife passed away recently and had owned a bedroom set that was given to her by Wilma. My understanding is that Wilma acquired it with the home she purchased from Patsy Cline's Estate so many years ago. Wish someone had pictures of Patsy's house interior or her bedroom so I couuld confirm this. If you run into anyone who might have some pictures or information, please let me know. Thanks for reading this.

  • What a voice!!!! Cheated out of superstardom. I know Wilma--what a sweet, kind generous person she is. Love you Wilma!!

  • I saw her in concert back in the sixties and she sent chills down my spine. I've never experienced anything like that before or since. Does anyone have a copy of You Can't Stop My Heart From Breaking? That was a really beautiful song and I'd love to hear it again.

  • Wilma Burgess sang with alot of emotional depth - one of the best country

    singers ever.

  • I heard Engelbert Humperdink's version of this and I love it . His version sounds so much like this one, I immediately thought he had to have heard this one, loved it so much , he decided to record it like her.. I have gone on CD universe and heard every version available and this one is THE BEST !!!! (Then Engelbert's version ) I'm glad I found her, LOVE her voice and style. THANKS for POSTING

  • Thanks for posting this and the many others!

I enjoyed your many clips. I grew up with Wilma Burgess, she on the 1965 Magnavox, and I in the rocking chair singing along to mother's heartache

    music.

  • I saw Wilma Bugess when she opend for Ernest Tubb yearss ago. She said she was a mess since she hadn't showered in days (cause she'd been taveling so much) , but, she was very upbeat and I loved her. She was very friendly. Love Misty Blue!

  • I had the honor of playing pedal steel guitar for Wilma back in the Sixties. Only worked for her a short time but I will never forget her. She was a great lady. Listening to her wonderful voice brings tears to my eyes.

  • This wonderful lady turned me on to Country music in 1967. This is a beautifully done tribute to her. Thank you for uploading it!

  • Country classic here... I also remember her beautiful duet with Bud Logan, "Wake Me Into Love". Thanks for posting.

  • i loveeee this song!

  • could someone who has it please PLEASE upload 'i dont see me in your eyes anymore'?? its so good!

  • I too have all of Wilma's albums and still listen to them 40+ years later. Wish MCA or Rhino or some company would do a retrospective of her music on CD. For those who want to see her on video, she appears in the movie "Las Vegas Hillbillies" (out on DVD) and sings "Baby". I don't know of any other videos of her that are still available.

  • Wilma was the absolute BEST ballad singer!!! I have all of her Decca LPs and singles, and she leaves me practically breathless EVERY time I listen to them. I wish someone could find some video footage from some of her appearances on the Wilburn Bros. show because I would love to see her perform.

  • So she was a lesbian, so what? Does that deminish the fact that she had a voice that would stop you in your tracks?

When will we stop fighting over who people are and focus our attention on fighting hunger, desease and most of all stupidity.

I think she sings a great song.

  • Wilma Burgess recorded some of the best country songs of the 1960s. "Baby", Misty Blue", "Tear Time", and "Don't Touch Me" are undisputed classics. Rest In Peace, La Wilma. You are solely missed.

  • Good song

It appears the Wilma disappeared when rumors of her Lesbian activities got out. This was verified to me by an old country DJ in Ft. Myers Fl about 20 years ago. I really felt he knew what he was telling me to be true. Everything else he told me about others I asked about had been verified.

  • Actually Wilma was the first & to this day the only openly gay Country singer in an industry and genre with 0 tolerance. She made no bones about her sexuality, but as long as she was making a lot of people a lot of money, they turned a blind eye. When the Nashville Sound was killed in the early '70s, she was unceremoniously run out of the business, but not before having several years of great records & hits. She then opened Nashville's first women's bar. Wilma had balls & was quite a character.

  • On another note, Wilma was Owen Bradley's replacement for Patsy Cline. Like Owen & Patsy would clash over Patsy wanting to do more Honky Tonk type material, Wilma & Owen would clash over Wilma's refusal to cut songs that were not "gender correct" for her. In other words, lyrically she could be singing to a man, or woman. You will only find a few songs in her entire catalogue that they made a trade out on & don't fit in that catagory. They had a great respect for each other.

  • Finally, In later years Wilma fell on hard times. She had stored all of her awards, belongings in her closest friend Mary(Jim)Reeves' storage unit & lost everything when Mary was ripped off after getting alzheimers. She passed away unexpectedly a few years ago in Nashville from a massive heart attack. Largely forgotten $ without even a mention in the Nashville press.

  • I have always loved Wilma' s voice. The first song I ever heard her sing was "Don't Touch Me" and it was beautiful. However, it seemed that when Jeannie Seely came out with the same song Wilma's version kind of faded. I have nothing against Jeannie but Wilma could out sing her any day. It was sad that Mary Reeves' widower treated the whole estate with such avarice, from what I read in the newspaper. I wonder how much is in a disinterested collector's hands now. Thanks for posting. - Paula

  • She was treated badly by most of her peers in the business, but she never compromised who she was. Like it, or not, you have to respect that. Her great recordings will live on and speak for themselves and that can never be taken away from her. She was a friend and I miss her!

  • Wonderful one of my all time favorite singers who seemed to vanish. Her Don't Touch Me album was one of my all time favorites. The woman was great.
