  • Adobo my balls!

  • its 400 years of spanish culture

  • So awkward. </3

  • This Augusto is so confused lol. WTF do you mean you feel like an outsider, esp. in the Phillippines?

  • @Microglia1 think about it. if you don't know squat about the local dialect or dialects for that matter, then you'll have a steep learning curve to surmount before you blend in with the crowd. I feel for Augusto. He's not white like anthony. He's not treated to a red carpet meal or greeted enthusiastically by filipinos who are sadly still embroiled in a colonial mentality who knows for a fact that white is might. He's Augusto, a new yorker, an american, a brown guy who can't speak native.

  • @MigueliP26 Well, at least he tries to get in touch with his culture. That deserves some respect. A lot of Pinoys in the states just try to forget about it, which explains why more than 60% of Pinoy women marry non-filipinos, who are mostly whites.

  • why the hell would white people "represent" Japan. Fucking dumbasses.

  • THE SOUR ELEMENT COMES FROM THAILAND i BELIEVE...ALL THEIR FOOD HAVE LEMON JUICE

  • Kare kare!!! I love it!

  • I should have I done it. My family is so loud and happy and they love to see me in the philippines. Even though I am not really a Filipino, just half.

  • It does not matter whether you are Ilokano, Kapampangan, Batangueno or Bisayas. They are all Filipinos.

  • It's true though, every region in the Philippines have their own version/recipe of the dishes. For example in Central Visayas, instead of Adobo we have Humba which has more gravy than Adobo and a bit sweeter.

  • @RAZRfreak ..Unfortunately, that's a mistake too. Im from the Visayas too but adobo has always been different with Humba. The difference in adobo as a dish is partly due to some ingredients. The basic ingredients though are the same. Humba is also available in Luzon and is totally a different dish.

  • Is every Phillipino American like this Augusto guy? Do they REALLY lose their sense of nationalism and identity? It is annoying how Anthony Bordain knows more about the Phillipines than Augusto... so sad.

  • @richterscale09 In short, yes. Every American-born Filipino is like this guy. As was said in the previous segment, you are Pampangas first, Filipino second. You grow up in your own mini culture. Filipino-Americans grow up with the best of the Philippines, distilled and condensed at the same time. Sad? No. Bourdain knows the Philippines his tour guides have presented to him. Augusto is a little bit ahead, having Filipinos around him his whole life. That's his identity.

  • This is the most real account of Filipino culture i have seen for a while. Even down to the cultural differences or indifferences with Fil-Ams and Filipinos.

  • polynesian? surprised about this factual inaccuracy by Anthony, usually he does his research well. I think he meant Austronesian. There are no native polynesians in The Philippines.

  • @clonedmouse Aeta's or Negritos are pretty Polynesian! In fact they migrated to the philippines the same way and about the same era as other Islander countries in the pacific!

  • is that the kapampangan guy's wife? lol it looks like shes trying to cool it down a little cuz it may offend some filipinos or might take it the wrong way. but like anthony said "hes new yorker 1st, then american." i guess some people will just represent their city, state, hometown, etc.

  • Augusto is acting like a Fool. Now, when i think of the Philippines.. it will be of his Face and the Way He Acts.

  • @scotteng1 plz no!! he ain't pinoy at all...it's crazy

  • @scotteng1 Why would you say that? He is being respectful to his family and guest. I think that Augusto is a fine young man who has a hard time connecting to his culture because he was raised in New York. If you haven't walked in his shoes you shouldn't criticize.

  • And he forgot about Ensaymada my favorite!!!!

  • As a filipino American i can relate to him even though i've been to the philippine maybe four times i still feel outside to them but my heritage is batangas and pampanga and when i went to batangas i felt outside but wheni went to pampanga they made me felt like i was very close to them.

  • @icemancotour the people of Pampanga and to some extent Zambales are more open towards Americans including Fil-Ams the fact they are used to their presence due to former US military bases located there. There were no US bases in Batangas.

  • cmon guys our kababayan augusto is just proud of what we have here in philippines and being proud that he is one of us filipinos and because of him we got Anthony Bourdain to visit our country with no regrets why cant we just be happy with that guys?

  • Wow! I guess Anthony was smart enough to recognize one of typical filipino traits w/c is being regionalistic. Having 7,107 isles with over 170 languages could explain the diversity. Hospitality and close family ties are also typical filipino traits w/c can be observed throughout the archipelago.

  • as a Filipino American. I can totally relate to where Augusto is coming from.

  • Pag may nagtatanong sa atin na ibang lahi dapat sama sama tayo, wag nating ilaglag ang iba nating kadugo, Okay.

Fr. Mangyan of Mindor here in Arizona

  • you should have checked your last comment...linaglag mo ang lahat ng kapampangas.the man was just proud for who he is,what's wrong with that?,I'm sure that you're proud to be an ARIZONIAN.I was in P.I in 07 & 08 a lot of people lives in pampanga(tarlac) now that are visayans, ilocanos, bicolanos.and folks that were affected by mt.pinatubo.

  • this is not good many kapangpangan always been boastful, this kapangpangan guy talked like they are the original pinoy.

  • i agree they shoud promote ph not just a certain place :)

  • i think your right cause when i went to pampanga they talked bad about my dads side (batangas) but the guy is just proud to be kapangpangan can't blame him for loving his province.

  • I thank Agusto. He is a Filam but he' s not boastful, he loves to promote the philppines with saying very cebuano. Agusto, you're very filipino at heart pare!
