i needed to know how to do something like this for a cosplay, and finally i've found it! But i haven't understood really well what kind of glue do i have to use ... could you tell me if i have to use a vinyl glue or another tipe?
@BurningPhobos I think I just used hot glue in there, but I've pretty much stopped using hot glue. It doesn't hold to plastic or metal well. I really would rather suggest e600 glue. It's my new favorite! I'm glad if it can be a useful video to you. Take care!

nice ^^ now I also have maked one pair, and I totally love it, I'm going to make more of them I think... but do you also wear then normally? that just as costume?
Honestly I think that really depends on how much fluffy stuff you're using. Fluff can be really fine and if you're using only a small amount, something like hot glue is so thick and plentiful that all your fluff might mash down and look limp and icky. So I'd either use a lot of fluff or maybe even try a thinner glue like just elmer's glue and see how that works. It's kind of hard to say without seeing what material you're actually using. Just make a small test piece maybe and experiment.
cool vid. i dont know if it will help me for my ears though. --- im tring to make one with juri from yu yu hakusho. and idk if the same steps apply to this
Heck yeah. Down with commercial Halloween costumes! My mum spoiled me in early life by always making our costumes so I've never purchased one before. Once I found out how much people spend on them and saw how they're even really flimsy I was kind of shocked.
Would I recommend it? I don't know, sure! I'd think anyone can do anything they want. Personally I like the ribbons and flowers because I didn't really want them to look like 'real' cat ears so much as just costumey. This is how I like them, but by all means, you should be doing exactly what you want with yours.
Do you mean how do you shape them? This is part two of the video. Part one shows how to form them. Sorry if you already figured that out, I know I'm late in replying. Take care!
Yay, I'm glad! It is definitely an easy project that pretty much anyone can tackle even without a lot of experience. (Sorry for the long delay before replying!)
Dude, no idea. XD Everybody seems to ask me about the Ikuto character but now that I've seen the pictures, I think I'd actually suggest that instead of clay, you carve an ear out of floral foam and make a very short nap fur fabric ear and fit it over the foam like a glove. You know? Anyway, sorry for the long delay. Was on maternity leave. : D Take care!
Quick question: I'm making some ears for a Strike Witches cosplay, and her ears are very very furry. What could I use to make them look tufty / furry? I was thinking of feathers, but I'm not sure if something like fake fur was buyable from a place like Michael's.
Sorry for the delay in reply- You can probably get fake fur from most fabric stores or by tearing apart an old teddy or plush from your collection or a thrift store. I've never tried to do that personally, but I bet it'd be not hard. If you're going that route though, why not just make them all out of stuffed fabric, because then they'd be awfully light?
Sorry, I'm just not very up on anime, so I don't know what ears from Strike Witches would look like, but all I can say is play around! <3
Don't worry about it. What I did is I bought some felt from Michael's, then made the ears as you said. Before attaching them to the headband, I wrapped them in the felt and glued it. I left it loose in the back, then stuffed it with stuffing (because i had made my ears too flat). They're heavy, but they look great!
Aww there are!! There was the london expo, which was today and yesterday ^^ I didnt get to go but theres another one in May! You should check it out ^^
Well the october one was yesterday and saturday... I couldnt make it... But theres another one in May, and next october... not sure of the exact date... Itll be my first expo ^^
OMG the cat ears r gonna turn out great but i wuz paintin them and i spilled pink paint on the table cloth so i tried cleening it but it just spred more so i covered it up as best as i could.......i hope my mom dont figure out the lamp is moved over.........
Oh my god, that made me laugh pretty hard. I had to tell my hubby. I'm a bad influence, huh??
I'd check online for methods to remove paint from fabric and try before your mum sees rather than rely on a lamp. The sooner you try to remove a stain, the better chance you'll have getting it out. XD Um... Good luck with that.
But hey, can I see a picture of the ears when done? Or make a video, like Brokenache, as you can see above! :D
i would love too but i dont hav a video camera YET...and im still working on the ears i need to find sum ribbon i know i hav it and there kinda fallin aprt becuz i had them on table my dog got them and slobered them up so i got it off him and i used the wrong clay cuz the only clay i had was modeling clay for my sisters pottery wheel lol
Oh... uhhhh x...x XD Clay like that needs to be fired. Even if it dries out in the air, it'll be really brittle. XD Maybe better to go to the shops and try to get some air-dry polymer or oven baking polymer. It's only a dollar and some change per 2oz square. n.n<3
I tried to respond, but I think it was scoping for links to cut them out of comments and my creative attempt to write it down kept the message from going through. I do, and thank you for asking. It's Meandrous. b iz and you can see it listed on the ends of some of my other videos. :) Sorry for the delay in response! I just didn't realise it hadn't gone through before.
Thanks! Well, you never know. I've actually gotten 3 custom requests since this video, so I thought you were serious! XD
Hey, you never NEED cat ears, they're just good to have around! You never know when they might come in handy. You know. They're like Swiss Army Knives that way. They might save your life. Or something.
haha ahh i loved this reply! Excellent video, real good talent! I'm not too good with arts and crafts, but I'm attempting to put fabric cat ears on one of my sweaters, because they are indeed as, if not MORE, useful than a swiss army knife! :D
....umm is there a way i can make this with out putting flowers or ribbons or any thing girly (other self: dude you're making cat ears thats already girly as it is)*whispers* you stay out of this (other self: whats next? a ponytail?)......(other self: i had to ask.....) shut up.... oh! i forgot i was leaving a comment. uhh yeah b4 u ask, yes i'm crazy. sry bout that (other self: seriously do you have no shame).....
XD No problem... that sounds like my mind. I like MisfortuneLlama's suggestion. That's what I would have said, anyway. Just be creative with it. You could also maybe add some less girly faux leather straps or cut the clay to make a jagged ear tear or give it a peircing. You could put on some aged looking bells or just do without anything and let your hair cover it. n.n
oh duh y didn't i think of that? cover it with my hair, gawd girls are smart, you girls cheat with you superior knowledge of... stuff... okay i couldn't think of another big word to use but I'm a guy and we don't think good... i mean well... i mean ... nevermind i'll just stop talking now

Generally, 2 - 2.5 inch for the middle for both ears work. if you want it really smooth you can just use sand paper to smoothen them out ^_^

hot gluing faux fur would be my suggestion. Then you get adorable ear fluffies, plus it hides the seams without being so girlie
