  • By far the best YT Pierogie 'how to' vid. I am just about to start my Xmas Pierogies & wanted to get in the mood first by watching a vid and this sure fit the bill. The extra rings of dough are a fab idea.

Love seeing your family enjoy their Babi's homemade Pieorgies. Hope you were all learning how to make them too.

Merry Christmas to you and yours

  • I love this! Thank-you! I needed to see how it was done by a real live person in a real live normal kitchen. I think I can do it now!

  • I love this! Thank-you! I needed to see how it was done by a real live person in a real live normal kitchen. I think I can do it now!

  • Going to make them now :D

  • What an awesome lady! If she had a Texas accent, she'd be a twin sister for my own sweet grandma.

  • ........I love pierogi!! My Mom make the best!! Cheese and potato filling, served with fried onions, finely chopped bacon and melted butter!! Absolutely delicious!!

  • Babi is so sweet! I like her art of pierogie making. I have been making them for years and also add oil to my dough. I don't use sour cream. Maybe I will try it sometime! Thanks for sharing with us! I like how she cooks a large quantity at once. She is very skilled at this!

  • Love pierogi! but then I don't want to eat the next day they are so filling! lookds delicious :D

  • what a wonderful video. my mom put the boiled perogies on a cookie sheet anft hen into the freezer, then she would put them in zipock bags with butter and onions. i would always have perogies then i went to visit. plus i got to take dozns home with me.

  • Thanks so much for the video....I'm trying to make my first batch today and came across this...now I know what to expect!! Going to bookmark this video in case I forget lol...Thanks again! I too would like to know about the freezing procedure??? Again THANKS!! Awesome!!

  • @carsmummy my mom usually freezes them cooked in ziplock bags , then heated slowly sprinkled with water . I think they be frozen raw but it would have to be done individually on cookie sheets then bagged .

  • OMG... flour, potatoes, potato flakes.... TOO MANY CARBS!!!!

Oh, what the hell, I'll go to the gym.... bring them over, YUM!!!

  • Love it! My grandpa is from the Ukraine :3 спасибі!

(experiment with them).i like to fry them in butter and onion and add them to a dish of italian tomato sauce with Romano cheese. so great. also like to make a chili sauce with fresh cilantro and have Mexican pierogies (sounds stupid but they are great.

  • Ukrainian food = satisfaction! (and no I'm not ukrainian I just know a lot of them and whenever I eat at their houses I'm happy.)

  • Dear Babi Thank you again for the "GREAT" video. Could you please tell me if you would recommend freezing pierogies and if so, any special freezing procedure. Also, would they taste the same.

Thank you and have a super day.

    Betty

  • @betsardinski I bar boil mine for 2 minutes and place them in melted butter so thye don't stick and freze them, they come out great!

  • aww they look great and she reminds me of my mum! so cute. congrats on a great recipe.

  • Dear Babi, my mom and I just watched your video....we loved it and can't wait to make them! Joseph and Rose in Florida :)

  • I just made a batch on these and they turned out fantastic! Thanks for doing the video.

  • I've always pronounced it bahbah and I'm not changing it now ;). Great job. I've always wanted to know he to cook them, but I never learned from my bahbah or mom.

  • GREAT! video on Pierogies. Thank you Babi's.

It has always been my understanding that you shouldn't crowd Pierogies while cooking (12), yet it appeared you had many many more then that?

What would be the maximum you would recommend.

    Betty

  • @betsardinski Hello, I use two large pots with salted water, making 50 in each pot with a wooden spoon to mix. Crowding has never been a problem :) - Babi Berezny

  • Thank you Babi! Great advice!

  • Reminds me of my husband's family! I will be learning how to make these tomorrow! The video is very helpful. She is obviously a very good cook and the pierogies look delicious! She's also a good teacher! Such a sweet personality. It's obvious she loves her family very much.

  • I'm not Ukranian but gee I'd love to have Babi as my grandma lol and eat ALL of those perogies!!! they just look so yummy and lately, my pregnant belly has been craving perogies... Unfortunately, I cant wait a few hours (time to make them) so I'll have to go and buy some... Preparing this lovely recipe will have to wait another day when I wont have such a strong craving for them lolol :)~ Thank you for the recipe Babi!!! xoxoxo <3<3<3

  • This is truly lovely of your Babi and you to archive this video here on YouTube!

My Polski Babcia (Grandmother) also used sour cream in her dough recipe (I think that is the secret ingredient!) Thank you for posting this video!!

  • This is THE BEST pierogi video on youtube. I learned the hard way, by trial and error. Babi bypasses all of those pitfalls.

  • loved it! I miss my Baba and her perogies!

  • I love her!! She should be the next Food Network star!! Thank you so much for this video.

  • Thanks for inviting us into your kitchen and sharing your mom's cooking techniques. The internet insures that she'll live on forever.

  • Great video..i absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cooking from scratch. Hard work, but once youve accomplished it; feels sooooo good! Thanks

  • It's not Pierogi. It's VARENIKI!!!!

Pierogi are making in oven or on a pattern with oil

  • @dimkaodessa My grandmother only called them vareniki if they were fried.

  • Brilliant!!!

Have been on the hunt- for a Master's insight on my absolute childhood Favourite****PEROGIE**** Attempted to make them once, though nothing like my Polish Bupcha's.... and sick to death of paying through the nose when buying them pre-made....Now with your help i will carry on the tradition with my kids....

    Thanks a Million!!!
