That was not a real stage 5. Go to dragtimes website, view some timeslips, and see how fast a real stage 4 or 5 can run. 12.16 is stock numbers for some E55 drivers.

If I ran that car at sea level it would run in the low 11's, just like all the other stage 5's. That's just the way it is in Vegas...high times due to high DA. Facts of life.

Vegas track is low in alt (2000') You'd have to have 105+ drgrees, low dew point of 5* and a low barometric pressure of 28.85 or less which means weather in the area.. It's not often for the DA to get to 6000' in Vegas I can accept 4500 feet in this case but not 6000'+ no.
I'll beat this dead horse a little more. The DA on 3-21-07 at LVMS was between 3000 and 3500ft that night. Look it up. Bad DA, but no where remotely close to 6000ft. If corrected to 0 ft DA, that puts the "stage 5" at high 11's and trapping under 120mph. This is a misrepresentation of what some other stage 2, 3, 4, and 5 E55s can do, which is very low 11's at 123+ mph.
a stock e55 is a very fast 4 door but not even a close race for a c6 z06 the e55 goes around 12.3 or 12.4 at 116 mph a z06 traps over 125 mph.Any stock well driven z06 goes 11.5 with a decent driver ,no stock e55 goes under 12.0,end of this useless conversation.
I don't think there is any Renntech Stage 5 E55 anywhere in the world that has broken into the 10's. There are only a handful of E55's that have done that (nitrous). Besides, you have to read the entire post to see that the DA was over 6000 feet for that race to understand why both cars had slow times.
2005 MB E55 with Kleemann Stage 2 package AND 120 shot of nitrous - 10.950 @ 131 mph. WITH NITROUS! I don't think that without NOS it is possible to break 10's, even with stage 5 or whatever.

No it cannot. The quartermile times are IDENTICAL. SLR has a higher top speed and is quicker to 60 (I think). No way a C6 Z06 stock can beat a SLR, especially the 722 edition!

Have you been inside an E-55? Have you ridden in both cars? Trust me..my 4-door grocery getter with massage seats, I-pod stereo, leather/wood trim is a sub-12 sec car. On the street I can hang with any Z06, primarily because most driver's don't know how to hook up. In my books, there's no comparison. I love the Z06 but I bought the E55 over that car for a reason. No regrets.

I have yet to even beat a stock C6-Z06 vette. (I've only raced 1) The fact is..my car is so much nicer inside and out than any vette and it's just about as fast. In fact, it seats 5 and is still faster than most cars fully loaded with passengers. Gotta love it.

STOCK e55s run mid 12s at sea level (look it up), they make 469 flywheel HP in a 4000 lb car. In case you didn't notice this race was at the LVMS (Las Vegas Motor Speedway) DEFINITELY not sea level.
The stock e55 has less HP than the BMW M6 and they weigh the same and the M6 runs mid 12s at sea level.
C6 Z06s have 505HP, run mid to high 11s stock and weigh 3150 lbs. You need to research more.
Before I bought my E55 I was seriously considering the new C6 Z06. But, the premium the dealer wanted for that car, in my opinion, wasn't justified. For a little more I got a car that, on the street from stoplight to stoplight, is just as fast as the Z06 (of course, this is highly dependant on the drivers' skills) and as far as fit and finish...there's no comparrison.
As a family car the E55 AMG is a great car. But you can`t really compare it to a Z06. It might be similarly fast on a straight line but it doesn`t stand the slightest chance against a Z06 on the track.
Probably not but the Z06 doesn't stand a chance with stuffing grocery bags in the trunk! And by the way...where to you put your golf clubs in that car anyway. J/K. I love the Z06 and will own one some day. You`re aboslutely right about that. The Z06 is superb on the race track and at the drag strip. and compete with the best in the world. Can`t wait to see what the ZR-1 is capable of. The Mercedes is fast too and for a family the better choice of course. It`s fast in the straight and still ok on a race track. Corvette and AMG E55 are completely different cars for different purposes.

Well, it's not a bad time considering the track DA was at 4700'. Sea level corrected times puts it at around 11.5 @122. With DR's we're in the low 11's. The time for the Z06 was ll.7 and it should have been into the 10's with his mods.
Vegas is known as being a fast track... so cubby you can calm down 5000' doesn't make a 8mph difference you tard, especially with a supercharged car. ur right.. shows how much i know...

Why wasn't the z06 time shown in the video? The videographer is a douche. He recorded the mercs time for 5 minutes. Idk if I can believe 11.7 for a "heavily modded" z06 with drag radials driven by an experienced driver. It runs 10.9 stock with DRs.
This race occurred at LVMS (Las Vegas Motor Speedway) which is not sea level. The times you mentioned about the C6 Z06 were at sea level...elevation makes a significant difference, especially to n/a cars.

The R/T Stage 5 E55 will hang with a stock C6 Z06 here in Vegas and depending on the Z06 driver's launching skills, the Stage 5 E55 will win most of the time. That Z06 was driven by a very experienced driver. At sea level he would be in the very low 11's.
The C6 Z06 ran an 11 an 11.759. The Z06 was also heavliy modded with cam, headers, intake, tune and DR's The Merc. is also modded, putting down 484rwhp but running on 265 street tires and weighing over 1000 lbs more than the Z06. Not bad for a 4 door.

Those time's you're mentioning are run at SEA LEVEL, this video was at Las Vegas Motor Speedway which is definitely NOT at sea level(unless you are geographically challenged of course).
The only one that needs "sum" lessons is you: on how to manage a map and elevation differences.

that is because the SLR has a T.C.U that limits torque in both first and second gear.
This is what enables the SLR to be launched hard ALL DAY and never mechaniclay fail unlike most lambos, ferraris and big hp vette's

Don`t get me wrong, the E55`s no slouch around the track at all and is much more of an allround talent than the Z06. The Z06 is a track car, not more. If I had family, I`d clearly go for the Mercedes, no doubt about that, it`s a great car. Congrats on owning one. Kind regards from Germany!

z06 is a track car? ummm domestics have always owned the 1320 with just near 470rwh and it can almost drop into the high 10's i think thats damn good... and it still kick ass at a track, c6 z06 is by far the best bang for your buck when it comes to an all around performance car...

You`re aboslutely right about that. The Z06 is superb on the race track and at the drag strip. and compete with the best in the world. Can`t wait to see what the ZR-1 is capable of. The Mercedes is fast too and for a family the better choice of course. It`s fast in the straight and still ok on a race track. Corvette and AMG E55 are completely different cars for different purposes.

i couldnt have said it better myself, i went to the chicago auto show not too long ago and they had the le mans blue zr-1 which sold at barret jackson for 1 million, dude you have no idea how gorgeous that thing was in person, it was pretty cool seeing the first ever zr-1 and then only one being painted lemans blue...

Cadzilla is coming! The new cadillac CTS-V will have the LS9 (detuned version of the ZR1's motor) so GM will challenge the world once again! What I can't wait to see is the new RS6, word is they will have 600+hp...in a frickin wagon, insane.

Damn, what a lucky guy you are! I`d love to see the new ZR-1 in real. I don`t even know if they will be available in Europe. I`ve seen a couple of Z06`s though. I`m currently saving up for a Camaro LS1 or Impala SS from the 90`s.

sweet i have a 99 6-speed camaro with the ls1, it is a blast to drive, though i would die for a zr-1 i still want a 07 or 08 z06 the ls7 are awesome engines and i just love everything about the c6 z06's...

thats a horrible time for a renntech stage 5... i didnt even know that excists and we have a e55 with renntech chip pulley and exhaust.. ran 11.7@118 with factory conticraps

Well, it's not a bad time considering the track DA was at 4700'. Sea level corrected times puts it at around 11.5 @122. With DR's we're in the low 11's. The time for the Z06 was ll.7 and it should have been into the 10's with his mods.

Gee. How many times have you run your car in Vegas? Funny how everyone who runs here and then takes their car to sea level runs about 4-5 tenths faster and trap much higher speeds as well. If you race in Vegas then accept my appologies. But, as you are clearly ingnorant about the effects of altitude on any car, even a forced induction car, I'm sure my comment is not out of line.

I am huge fan of all corvettes... but a stock E55 and a C5 Z06 is a great race... a modded E55 will own a stock c5 Z06... But its gonna need a helluva lot of work to spank a stock C6 Z06...

Why wasn't the z06 time shown in the video? The videographer is a douche. He recorded the mercs time for 5 minutes. Idk if I can believe 11.7 for a "heavily modded" z06 with drag radials driven by an experienced driver. It runs 10.9 stock with DRs.

This race occurred at LVMS (Las Vegas Motor Speedway) which is not sea level. The times you mentioned about the C6 Z06 were at sea level...elevation makes a significant difference, especially to n/a cars.

poolmaster298, The stock Z06 isn't going to run an 11.5 here in Las Vegas due to the altitude. The R/T Stage 5 E55 will hang with a stock C6 Z06 here in Vegas and depending on the Z06 driver's launching skills, the Stage 5 E55 will win most of the time. That Z06 was driven by a very experienced driver. At sea level he would be in the very low 11's.

The C6 Z06 ran an 11 an 11.759. The Z06 was also heavliy modded with cam, headers, intake, tune and DR's The Merc. is also modded, putting down 484rwhp but running on 265 street tires and weighing over 1000 lbs more than the Z06. Not bad for a 4 door.

Those time's you're mentioning are run at SEA LEVEL, this video was at Las Vegas Motor Speedway which is definitely NOT at sea level(unless you are geographically challenged of course).
The only one that needs "sum" lessons is you: on how to manage a map and elevation differences.
