The numbers are in on the Bush tax cuts. These numbers come from the Fiscal Year 2012 Historical tables. In 2000, GDP was 9.821 trillion and individual income tax revenue was 1.004 trillion while corporate tax receipts were 207.8 billion. In 2010, GDP was 14.508 trillion while individual income tax receipts were 898.549 billion and corporate tax receipts were 191.437 billion. The economy is 47% larger yet income tax receipts are more than 10% lower. Tax cuts decrease revenue substantially.

@UBSCARED Your delusional. We see time and time again what happens when we give away tax payer money to the "investment class"& "job creators" in another failed attempt at trickle down economic policies.
People have demonized the word change,at this point what else should we do but change? Tax cuts for the middle class (99% of us) NOT for those making over 1 million /year.
At this point tax cuts for the rich is just additional spending, increased Chinese debt, and corporate WELFARE.
The Republicans are great politicians. It is at the expense of being good statesmen, but nevertheless.
The best party I could think of would combine the Republicans' political organization and unity with the Democrats' policies and agendas. That would be a party truly able to legislate.
Instead, we've a politically savvy party of no real solutions; only tried, tested, and failed ideas. And also, we've a party of pragmatism and versatility; but failed politics.
After the Bush tax cuts were passed, gov't tax revenue exploded, & jobs were created. After Obama's failed "stimulus" package that just moved everyone to the gov't payroll, unemployment doubled. I believe in free commerce over being dependent on the government for everything I need. Therefore I do not believe in the Democratic Party. Vote Republican!
@BlackRepublican2010 Wrong my friend when Clinton left office we had record highs in employment, and record lows in deficit. And it employment has decreased as the deficit has increased every year since then. And if you call going from 7% to just over 9% doubling you need to take a math class in the near future.
Jeez... I guess by his own definition, he must be a "socialist". What a hypocrite. He's flip-flopped on damn-near every major policy issue. How could any thinking person vote for this man? In Jesus's name, Amen! OBAMA - 2008 or you will get exactly what you voted for in 2000 and 2004. Oops, there wasn't an election in 2000, justice system appointed him.
Ah - the rich always have lobbyists and politicians working to reduce their tax burden - but not the middle class and the poor. McCain is a champion flipflopper.
He is willing to abandon his integrity in order to get elected.
Cutting taxes during an armed conflict, at a time when the infrastructure needs serious attention and we need major reform in education and health care, is not smart. In fact we're hemorrhaging half a trillion per year while in the process of fucking over our kids, grand kids and great grand kids just because we don't feel like paying for our own shit.
Brilliant - the same people who don't want "hand-outs for lazy poor people" want hand-outs FROM THEIR OWN CHILDREN. WTF?
Talk about flip floppers these candidates are so outrageous, they just say whatever they think voters want to hear like we won't find out what they REALLY BELIEVE. With YOUTUBE and the modern age of video we are finding out the ugly truth. If you want the REAL TRUTH FOLLOW THE MONEY and you will find what they REALLY believe in, not the rights and safety of the American people, but the power of their pocketbooks!
Ohhh really McBush? The reality is that you are pro Corporations,Irak war will stop when the military complex say stop and Taxes will keep increasing with inflation.I am taking Fed Tax now and my book shows how taxes will be raised with brackets present-10,15,25,28, and 35% to 15,28,31,36 and 39.6% from 2011 and later. So stop lying Republicans in power will increase taxes anyways.
I say tax cuts across the board..for everyone. Why should someone has to pay a lot more just because they make more money? If so, I suggest to those of you who are rich later in life to donate half of your money to the government if you like the idea of tax increases for the rich.
Think of how unfair that is. Someone making minimum wage has to pay the same amount as someone making like thousands more than them, but billionares only have to pay the same as someone making literally millions or billions less than they are? I understand people who are like middle class saying they want tax cuts, but not the very wealthy. It's so incredibly selfish for someone to say they should be able to buy 5 yachts while a family in their city dies of starvation. It's immoral.
Do you know how to do math? Let say the tax is 15%. How can 15% of $1 billion like you said is the same amount as 15% of $15,000? Plus why do you want to take money away from people who make themselves rich. How do you know they don't give to charities? I know some families need help but when you have free money why should anyone work? If you give me money monthly then I might work less. Got any to spare?
Okay, I obviously meant percentage and I was talking about people in the same tax bracket(See:"someone making like thousands more than them"). So you think because you would stop working if given money(which indicates only your own selfishness) that starving families shouldn't be given some sort of relief? You don't think it's wrong the government rewards these big business CRIMINALS with tax breaks while literally stealing from the middle class and the poor who are barely making ends meet?
How do big businesses steal money from the middle-class? The middle-class people is giving them money? Corporate is an entity. It is not one person. Who are the owners of oil companies. It is the stock holders which include thousands of people. Plus when did I say I'll stop working if you give me money? I said I might work less and giving you an example of how people are in life. You can never have enough money in this world ie. Warren Buffet. Either you are still immature or still very young.
Talking about fair. If I'm a middle-class person and I married another middle-class, now I'm considered rich and have to move to a higher bracket. You called that's fair? People don't make money to pay higher taxes. People make money to better their lives and families. It's their earned money, not yours or mine or the government's or anyone else's.
I think alot of people make money to make themselves look better. I mean these millionares and billionares don't need that kind of money- its fun to go on vacation but do you really need your own jet to do it? And think about the average working class person, they do far more hard labor, for longer than the president of some company and the president just gets more money cause he got a degree from some prestigious university he could only go to in the first place cause his family was wealthy?
You think rich people can just sit there and money come to them? Cindy McCain's parents started their business with about $10,0000. Ross Perot started his business with $1000. Everyone started out with little money, either the parents who made it rich for their descendents or they make it rich themselves. Money just don't come to you by just doing nothing. And why are you jealous of people making money? You're suppose to learn how to make money and be rich, not take money from people.
THis is nothing compared to what Obama taxe increases would do god forbid if he got elected. Speculators say Obamas "social programs" will increase our deficit as much as 1 trillion dollars in his first 2 years in office.
"Lowering taxes on big companies helps our economy."
What a Cool-Aid drinker. And if you give tax breaks to the top 5% income makers their priority just like big companies is to make sure people have jobs and the economy is good. Right? They would not ship jobs overseas or their investments or hurt the economy would they? You putz.
"By the end of last year, Americans would have paid an additional $1.3 trillion in taxes" YEAH! AND PAID FOR THE STUPID WAR, MORON! But maybe you think the cost will just magically go away if you lower taxes on big companies and rich people, further.
The republican controlled Congress consistently refused Bill's idiotic social safety net programs that dont work (starting in '94). When Reagan was president, Democrats refused his tax cuts, which for the Bush administration has increased revenue 20%.
President Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax relief fueled economic growth and reduced the marginal rate for every income tax bracket. By the end of last year, Americans would have paid an additional $1.3 trillion in taxes had it not been for the President's tax relief. If the President's tax relief is allowed to expire at the end of 2010, Americans will pay about $280 billion more in taxes each year. With the largest tax increase in history looming, Obama and Congress should keep the tax cuts.

OBAMA HAS NOT BEEN A CHRISTIAN HIS WHOLE LIFE! Growing up in Indonesia, he was read passages from the Kuran and went to Mosque. He converted to Christianity at the age of 25! If you dont believe me, read this New York Times article interviewing HIS SISTER. Youll find that she supports everything i just said.
does religion really matter? i would vote for a muslim as long as he was a good president. stupid christians say that if hes not christian he cant be a good president. that is not true
There are actually a couple problems with Obama's being a muslim. One, he claims that he has been a christian for his whole life, what is he trying to hide? Two, a lot of the worlds issues today involve muslims, i.e Israel, Gas, Etc, it is important to have an arbitrary president who doesnt have a bias as to which side to be on.
Um, try reading the actual transcripts of the interview with her half-sister because that 'article' was edited. This is the NY Times, Hillary-town. You really think they'd put the truth out there to support Obama? Nice try kid.
He's trying to hide it from the fact that 80% of America is made up of bigoted douchebags who would let their moronic, sheepish upbringing (read: Christianity).
all muslins arent terrorist just like in the 1800s all christians arent slave owners. using religon as a reason to keep their slaves claiming that u r helping them because without switching slaves to christianinity they are going to hell so they were better off as slaves. I personally dont care if he is muslin or not but i dont like that he is isolating himself from the muslin community to please biggots that already think he is a terrorist anyway no matter what he does or says
SHUT UP with your stupidity. CNN already debunked the whole Obama went to a Madrassa in Indonesia. It was a public school who had children of Muslim, Christian, Buddhism, and Confucianists and the teachers wear western style clothes and they don't pick one religions over the other. He was 6 years old! CNN Debunks False Obama 'Madrassa' Smear. Look it up on YouTube folks.
Forget trying to convince some of these dullards. They just need an excuse to not vote for Obama. Most Republicans are not that excited about McCain so smearing Obama is a form of foreplay to get themselves wet for the old man about to hump them. Obama is their K-Y jelly of hate.
everyone look at the true idiot duckbuddy... obama is a christian by birth and has always been a christian... he was born in hawaii and raised later in indonesia, but THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM A MUSLIM...
can i ask you to slowly move your head out of your ass and read a goddamn book... go back to kindergarten to learn how to read first though
How much of a devoted Christian could Obamas mother be if she called his son Hussein. I know if I had a kid I would not call him Hussein if my life depended on it. Also he did attend a Madresseh ( islamic school) so fuck off.
i agree with old mccain, tax cuts during war time is irresponsible, paul oneil said back in 02 that these tax cuts and the iraq war will cause a major deficit budget over 500 billion dollars,of course after he said that bush and co fired him from secretary of state
God please stop w/the Reagan references. Reagan was an OK president, he was in the right place at the right time, just when the USSR just happened to be collapsing. So funny how nobody remembers the Iran-Contra weapons scandal...under Reagan...and the fact that he totally raped the deficit...
McCain stands for NOTHING, he has flipflopped on every major issue from gay marriage to tax cuts . If you're going to run someone...run someone w/true convictions, not another puppet.
Bush senior was against Reagan's tax cuts in 1980 then in 1988 he said "no new taxes" and became president, in 1990 Bush signed the biggest tax hike in American history. In 2001McCain voted against Bush's tax cuts. Now in 2008 he says "no new taxes" are we conservatives stupid enough to vote for another pseudoconservative 20 years later. I certainly am not. A choice between McCain and Obama is no choice at all. Bobb Barr the conservative choice.
What I want, more than anything else, is for government to take a very active role in promoting social and economic equality. If it means more taxes, more business regulations and more spending, than so be it. I am fundamentally opposed to the "free market conservatism" ideology of economics.
I am unaware of any large economy that has thrived under the kind of massive government regulation you favor. The USSR fell; China morphed; Europe slumped. Even the USA's experiments with hyper regulation in the 60s and 70s contributed to recession. You're view is demonstrably misguided.
Let's see...in the 1950s and 60s the top income tax bracket was 70-90 percent. Did the economy tank then? We had powerful labor unions and the right to organize was strongly enforced. How was the middle class doing during this time period?
Let's look at 1980 onward: The top bracket was reduced to 28 percent and labor laws were largely ignored. Did the growth of the post-Reagan era trickle down? Which income group has benefited the most since then? How is the middle class doing today?
Take regulation of the railroads. They were bankrupt until Congress deregulated them. Now, they're so profitable, Warren Buffet has taken huge positions in the Union Pacific and BNSF Railroads. How's your long distance bill? Cheaper or more expensive since deregulation? Much cheaper, thanks to competition, not regulation. As for Reagan, you are too young to remember what the economy was like in 1980 vs. 1988, so your ignorance is forgivable.
fuck you, one could get a plane ticket from Chicago to New York for 25 dollars before him, he also fucked the organize labor movement, you are ignorant you stupid fuck, i dont forgive you i'll burn a 5 dollar bill if they put his face on it, ass for railroads if the Ceo's would lower they're salaries they'd make profit... o wait most CEO's are republicans thus too greedy to lower their salaries
fuck you i feel like it, yea in the 80's a whole bunch of air traffic controllers went on strike, and he fired em all, fuck you, and national debt sored and he prolonged the Cold War but acted like he ended it
The cold war was 35 yrs old when he took office, and it ended shortly after he left. Mostly, communism failed under its own weight. But, while others said we should appease the USSR, which would embolden them, Reagan stood fast, emboldening instead resistence to communist rule within the USSR. As for airtraffic controllers, their 1981 strike was flat-out illegal. They had it coming, and "organized labor" overall was not hurt. You should get a library card or something.
ugghhh yes it did hurt organized labor, it pretty much ended the progressive era, and the only thing those controllers were protesting was unsafe equipment, he prolonged the cold war by scaring the USSR with that STAR WARS missile system, so they held out londer, even the US commissioner to the USSR said we had nothing to do with the end of communism, gaps between the rich and the poor went up, prosperity under him was an illusion, he also liked to fuck pigs
"Even very conservative economists who have worked for the Bush administration - including Greg Mankiw, a former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Bush who is now an advisor to Mr. Romney - have publicly stated that today's tax revenues would be EVEN HIGHER were it NOT for the Bush tax cuts" - Jonathon Chait, a senior editor at the NEW REPUBLIC!
Stolois, McCain's doing a good job derailing his campaign just by himself. Giuliani is a better target for your amateurish attempts at character assassination.
Oh yes, I was mistaken. Senator McCain publicly supports President Bush, is in favor of the Iraq war and has the support of influential religious leaders. That's a ticket to the White House.
It's even easier to make the other GOP candidates look bad. As for the war. I was against it, but there's nobody I trust more than McCain to deliver the best case scenario on the way out.
How can you possibly suggest McCain is even considering a way out of Iraq? He's happy to stay there for another 100 years, and is gearing himself up for more wars there!
A vote for McCain is a vote to bankrupt the nation, and kill America's children.
Sounds like you traded your brain for Dem talking points. He's not "happy" to stay there one more day. But he is willing to stay until there's no power vacuum in Iraq for Iran or Al Quada to fill.
Just like we can't leave Korea because of the "power vacuum" there, and the "power vacuum" in Germany that keeps us there.
Grow an independent thought, won't you. McCain's not going to leave until his military-industrial complex donors say they want him to. Guess when that will be?
McCain's a CFR sellout. Just like Obama. Just like Clinton. Just like Huckabee. Traitors, all.
So true, McCain has a lot to gain with staying in Iraq. He doesn't mind selling the lives of our brave men and women to his friends in the several complexes that lobby our politicians.
Funny that you think the completely unsubstantiated claim that McCain is beholden to the "military-industrial complex" is an "indpendent thought." Very innovative. If we leave the region and Iran takes control of oil production in Iraq and the straights of Hormuz, what do you think will happen? I realize our misguided war is at fault for destabilizing Iraq, but now its unstable and vulnderable to Iran. So, what should we do?
And if you think it's unsubstantiated about McCain being beholden to the military-industrial complex, look at Top Contributors over at opensecrets. org
And then look at the Top Contributors for Ron Paul.

What a Cool-Aid drinker. And if you give tax breaks to the top 5% income makers their priority just like big companies is to make sure people have jobs and the economy is good. Right? They would not ship jobs overseas or their investments or hurt the economy would they? You putz.
KeynoteThemePark 3 years ago
"By the end of last year, Americans would have paid an additional $1.3 trillion in taxes" YEAH! AND PAID FOR THE STUPID WAR, MORON! But maybe you think the cost will just magically go away if you lower taxes on big companies and rich people, further.
metube8146 3 years ago
Lowering taxes on big companies helps our economy, which results in more jobs and thus a surplus.

Yeah, they aren't in millions, they're in billions, my bad.
Still, going from 200b+ to 400b- is hysterically disasterous.

Reagan (fiscal conservative): $200m defecit
Bush (fiscal conservative): $300m defecit
Clinton (tax and spend liberal): $200m surplus
Bush (fiscal conservative): $400m defecit
McCain: Don't worry, I'm a fiscal conservative.

Read the Constitution. Congress authorizes spending. When Reagan was in office, he dealt with a Congress that was controlled by Democrats.
jsgoodfella 3 years ago
The President is in charge of the budget. He decides what is spent where etc.
ManlySlut 3 years ago
The republican controlled Congress consistently refused Bill's idiotic social safety net programs that dont work (starting in '94). When Reagan was president, Democrats refused his tax cuts, which for the Bush administration has increased revenue 20%.

only 200 million surplus? wow America isn't doing too good, the netherlands (where i live) have had a surplus of around 2 billion for years in row
BazzTheBoss 3 years ago
The Netherlands probably has low taxes overall, resulting in a good economy, which means surplus. Damn, and Im for legalizing marijuana too.
jsgoodfella 3 years ago
low taxes? haha we probably pay like 50 % of our income to some tax or similar.. but it's oke, we have a great healthcare system
BazzTheBoss 3 years ago
i think you mean billion right?
BazzTheBoss 3 years ago

Youll find that she supports everything i just said.
obamalies2008 3 years ago
does religion really matter? i would vote for a muslim as long as he was a good president. stupid christians say that if hes not christian he cant be a good president. that is not true
bryantfan7 3 years ago 9
There are actually a couple problems with Obama's being a muslim. One, he claims that he has been a christian for his whole life, what is he trying to hide? Two, a lot of the worlds issues today involve muslims, i.e Israel, Gas, Etc, it is important to have an arbitrary president who doesnt have a bias as to which side to be on.
obamalies2008 3 years ago
Um, try reading the actual transcripts of the interview with her half-sister because that 'article' was edited. This is the NY Times, Hillary-town. You really think they'd put the truth out there to support Obama? Nice try kid.
vincentvendetta1 3 years ago 2

ComradeSephiroth 3 years ago
I am unaware of any large economy that has thrived under the kind of massive government regulation you favor. The USSR fell; China morphed; Europe slumped. Even the USA's experiments with hyper regulation in the 60s and 70s contributed to recession. You're view is demonstrably misguided.
etsneroj 3 years ago
Let's see...in the 1950s and 60s the top income tax bracket was 70-90 percent. Did the economy tank then? We had powerful labor unions and the right to organize was strongly enforced. How was the middle class doing during this time period?
Let's look at 1980 onward: The top bracket was reduced to 28 percent and labor laws were largely ignored. Did the growth of the post-Reagan era trickle down? Which income group has benefited the most since then? How is the middle class doing today?
ComradeSephiroth 3 years ago
ronald reagan and derregulation fucked the economy
renegadeace1 3 years ago
If you were right, I'd agree with you.
1988, so your ignorance is forgivable.
etsneroj 3 years ago
fuck you, one could get a plane ticket from Chicago to New York for 25 dollars before him, he also fucked the organize labor movement, you are ignorant you stupid fuck, i dont forgive you i'll burn a 5 dollar bill if they put his face on it, ass for railroads if the Ceo's would lower they're salaries they'd make profit... o wait most CEO's are republicans thus too greedy to lower their salaries
renegadeace1 3 years ago
(1) Airlines were never deregulated, so fare increases don't support your point.
(2) I bet you can't name one thing Reagan did that directly screwed organized labor.
(3) Huge CEO salaries, while offensively big, are too small to affect the profitability of a major company.
(4) You shouldn't cuss so much. It makes you sound like a child having a temper tantrum.
etsneroj 3 years ago
fuck you i feel like it, yea in the 80's a whole bunch of air traffic controllers went on strike, and he fired em all, fuck you, and national debt sored and he prolonged the Cold War but acted like he ended it
renegadeace1 3 years ago
The cold war was 35 yrs old when he took office, and it ended shortly after he left. Mostly, communism failed under its own weight. But, while others said we should appease the USSR, which would embolden them, Reagan stood fast, emboldening instead resistence to communist rule within the USSR. As for airtraffic controllers, their 1981 strike was flat-out illegal. They had it coming, and "organized labor" overall was not hurt. You should get a library card or something.
etsneroj 3 years ago
ugghhh yes it did hurt organized labor, it pretty much ended the progressive era, and the only thing those controllers were protesting was unsafe equipment, he prolonged the cold war by scaring the USSR with that STAR WARS missile system, so they held out londer, even the US commissioner to the USSR said we had nothing to do with the end of communism, gaps between the rich and the poor went up, prosperity under him was an illusion, he also liked to fuck pigs

etsneroj 4 years ago
Oh yes, I was mistaken. Senator McCain publicly supports President Bush, is in favor of the Iraq war and has the support of influential religious leaders. That's a ticket to the White House.
florian116 4 years ago
It's even easier to make the other GOP candidates look bad. As for the war. I was against it, but there's nobody I trust more than McCain to deliver the best case scenario on the way out.
etsneroj 4 years ago
How can you possibly suggest McCain is even considering a way out of Iraq? He's happy to stay there for another 100 years, and is gearing himself up for more wars there!
A vote for McCain is a vote to bankrupt the nation, and kill America's children.
lastnymleft 3 years ago
Sounds like you traded your brain for Dem talking points. He's not "happy" to stay there one more day. But he is willing to stay until there's no power vacuum in Iraq for Iran or Al Quada to fill.
etsneroj 3 years ago
Just like we can't leave Korea because of the "power vacuum" there, and the "power vacuum" in Germany that keeps us there.
Grow an independent thought, won't you. McCain's not going to leave until his military-industrial complex donors say they want him to. Guess when that will be?
McCain's a CFR sellout. Just like Obama. Just like Clinton. Just like Huckabee. Traitors, all.
lastnymleft 3 years ago
So true, McCain has a lot to gain with staying in Iraq. He doesn't mind selling the lives of our brave men and women to his friends in the several complexes that lobby our politicians.
gosmokesome 3 years ago

renegadeace1 3 years ago
Funny that you think the completely unsubstantiated claim that McCain is beholden to the "military-industrial complex" is an "indpendent thought." Very innovative. If we leave the region and Iran takes control of oil production in Iraq and the straights of Hormuz, what do you think will happen? I realize our misguided war is at fault for destabilizing Iraq, but now its unstable and vulnderable to Iran. So, what should we do?
