Everyone loses because he "made a mistake." It's a terrible excuse in chess. It's up to the other person to exploit the mistake. Nothing more annoying than winning a game and having the person say, "Oh, if only I didn't make that one mistake."
@tndowns1122 Your right we do lose because of our mistakes, and we should charish our loses because they show us the mistakes we can fix to become better. A win in chess is only valuable if you want money, but a loss is more beneficial for becoming better. This concept is true for Go, Chess, and Other games. :-)
