Why do don't they have English accents? They live in France! it doesn't make sense!
I mean french people speaking English with french accents instead of actual french in France wouldn't really make sense, but it would be better than them speaking in English accents.
I miss the 90's they had such good movies. What happend we get lucky enough to have a good movie every now and then now a days but the 90's they had the best movies ever!!
OMG, Madeline was a part of my childhood. My name is acutally Madeline (I pronounce it differenty, though.) I had every single one of her books, all the cartoons on VHS, the doll, and the costume. I had the same haircut and I am also very petite for my age and always have been just like Madeline! When I was little I wanted to have my appendix taken out so I could be like her...LOL! XD
Yeah it seems to remind me more of "The Little Princess" movie. They could have taught the actresses to use French Accents, like the actual Cartoon which was released before the movie.. and after the book but they didnt, Being as it was proberly a uk thing, no wonder they picked british actresses. Remember France is also a part of Europe.
LMAO "Lord Kookooface" I remember that!! I was so obsessed with Madeline as a kid and I LOVED this movie. I even remember going to see it in the theater xD
i loved this film as a kid! watching this clip i can hardly remember anything about it though! i always thought she had black hair and wore a red coat not a blue one! i remember the circus part though and the part where she had her operation! I'm gonna watch it now i miss old films like this they don't make them the same anymore!
@isurukill: But as long as she's the brave and inquisitive little French redhead, it is really certainly fine, because nobody does it quite like Madeline. XD
They seem to do that with a lot of french movies. Even in stage plays - watch Les miserables ! I just assumed they were speaking french but we are hearing it in English.
@TheGimboid Well, the had to make it in English for Americans to understand (I think the film itslef was made in America) and the English accent, being European and all, was more realistic.
We rented this move from xtravision when I was wee and I hid it under the sofa so my mum couldn't take it back :)

Hatty Jones played Madeline and sadly...this was the only movie she got to be in.
Kristian de la Osa (Pepito) did not get much roles either.
Clare Thomas (Aggie) got in a few TV shows.
it's just sad how most kid-stars don't make it far...hollywood just uses them, spits them out and looks for their next prey.
Frances McDormand was good in this movie too =)...i enjoy her.
