Donnie Roberts who played guitar in The Sparkles passed away on 01/01/12. He was a great man and an inspiration to everyone who knew him and some of you guys who have a special liking of The Sparkles music to this day.

I was at Permian High School 64-68 in Odessa, Texas. I played in rock bands out there all thru jr. hi and hi school. The Sparkles were the big shots of West Texas back then. Lucky Floyd on drums and vocals--can't remember the rest. Very good band with lots of show. Use to see them at Snug Harbor. I was with the Cobras and, later, the American Embassy. The Screaming Skulls were big in Midland. The Starfires were another big band in Odessa- had Mike Campbell - now in Nashville
