About the concave, the gentler it is, the easier to pop and flip it. The steeper is it, you go higher with flips. However, it's harder to do it, plus you gotta jump higher. If you're starting, I suggest a gentle concaved board, better to learn the 1,2's of the tricks before getting it down nice.
I started with a Zero, cause of the concave. But you wanna look around. There're many new brands and places to get it.
i've been skating for while. i've skated for 6 and a half monthes. i can ollie, ollie down stairs kick flip axle stall drop in on the big ramp at somerset and i can rock and roll rock to fakie switch rock to fakie switch rock and roll switch ollie nollie fakie ollie half cab 180 and stuff like that.
i've gone through a element. didnt like it. a girl. pretty nice tail breaks to easily though and i'm currently skating a zero but i'm not loving it as much as my girl. what do u think is a nice deck for someone like me?
depends on what you like to conquer. Grinds and simple ledges, I'd say here. There's a flat spot below where the crew and I usually play SKATE.
Another one of my favourite is the Kovan stage. The rest of the places I skate at are at random stairs, rails and ledges. You know, skate around and see what's skate-able.
If you're starting, I'd get an in-between kinda deck. Meaning, it's wide enough to kinda get good balance, but also not too wide so that you'd have difficulties flipping.
I've got a 7.5" deck. Cause my feet're small. But that's considered an ideal sized board.
