Belgian Shepherd is a herding breed by nature. We do instinct testing and if they have the right instinct you start teaching commands to direct the dog around your stock in a similar fashion like you would teach sit and stay. You have to have basic obedience already on the dog. But again, you cannot teach this to a dog without instinct. This breed was developed for herding so the likelihood of Belgian having herding instinct is a lot higher than lets say a chihuahua or Great Dane.
