@crazyboyxx America does NOT have a health care system! It is a free for all! The sole motive is profit & to bad if you can't pay for it!!! The big powerful USA does not care about the health or their own people! Profit first!
He's also a homeopath and believes alternative medicine (reiki, acupuncture, etc.) produces a greater effect than just placebo. So I agree, he is far from a rational thinker.
How about the fact that corporate America runs everything? There's a real shocker. For-Profit Insurance companies have got to go! As a registered nurse, I see the stressors of lack of insurance and/or money negatively impact the possibility that a patient might have some form of quality of life! Also, let's begin to pay our nurses what they are really worth! 500 K/day sounds good in that context!
I am French-American and I am flabbergast to see how many Americans still support the current U.S. healthcare system ? If this happened in France, people would be out on the street decades ago to run down all those "interested parties" ! This is NOT a political issue ! This is a fundamental issue, a human's Right issue! A moral issue! Oh, I forgot, there is no such "moral thing" in our society anymore... It is all about profit.
@lacomtessealice agreed, people in america REALLY fuck shit up nowadays when it comes to politics. since obama was elected, both sides treat their political stripes more as sports teams =/
What a schmuck this tom hartmann is. How much does this guy make a day?100 dollars, 200 dollars, 300 dollars. I am sure there is no justification for this guy to make ONE SINGLE dollar. Bleeding liberal. There is such a thing as the market. If you rightfully make 20,000 dollars a day, then that money is rightfully yours. If you illegitimately get 50 dollars a day (let´s take welfare for example), then that money IS NOT yours. What a schuck.
Did'nt America used to have not for profit health insurance. What their defenders forget is that every cent they take in profit is a cent off everybody's health care. I'm not a socialist i'm slightly to the right of centre but to have the capacity of basic health for everyone and make it a financial and political football smacks of obcenity.
Here in Denmark we have free UHC. And we couldn't be doing better. Make no mistake I'm very pro-American but I think it would be better for states to have UHC
Because we don't have a Health Care "System". What we have is a health care market (free market). We are not as evolved as yet to think that in this richest nation in the world, health care should be provided to all citizens, as a moral principle and as a citizen's right and not as a privilige. We take pride in ourselves that Americans are generous and caring people until the health care issue is brought up.Then we let so called free market take care of it. Unbelieveable, ha?
A Utopia is unattainable....... People get sick and you simply cannot see a doctor without insurance unless it's an emergency (Reality)...... This is a simple consumer protection issue bottom-line.......
I miss listening to Thom Hartmann - to my knowledge, you can't get his radio show live via the Internet anymore. If any radio stations in New York City or New Jersey carry his program, I have not heard about it.
It finally reveals the price of the reckless ambitions of our current government... including tax increases that would take us to even higher levels than most of Europe!
Orlor - yes, he is a class act. I personally believe that he is a very good person, very intelligent and would like to see everyone prosper. He is not a communist, he is not a fascist, he is an intelligent human being who wants everyone to have a chance at the best possible life. I share his sentiments on many issues.
Thom Hartmann, you rock. I couldn't agree with you more on this issue. Obama's plan doesn't go far enough. We need single payer healthcare.
Since I lost my healthcare when I lost my job in November, I'm now a statistic and am even that much more convinced that healthcare should not be provided by employers.
I love the fact that when he interviews a conservative, he never calls them names or belittles them and never trashes them after they're off the air. Not like certain other talk show hosts.
