  • @silverladderdotcom

I stumbled across the video through the KONY 2012 video. It's near the beginning and I was curious about the actual video. Kudos to you and your response was spot on!!

  • Question for everyone: Why the sudden spike in comments on a video from five months ago? Did the original hearing vid gain new momentum from being posted somewhere or being listed in the "related videos" from something newly popular? The overnight resurgence on this very old video has made it clear that something is happening somewhere.

  • @silverladderdotcom KONY 2012, LOOK IT UP!

  • @silverladderdotcom It came out on the video called Kony 2012 (that by the way you should see) and this has just given it, as you said, a new momentum ^^

  • @silverladderdotcom A clip on the video was on the KONY 2012 video, which has 40 million views... well atleast thats why im here...;P

  • @silverladderdotcom The "Kony 2012" youtube video showed this video at the beginning and that's how I (and I presume many others) got interested.

  • very well said..i just saw the video and i felt most off the comment were very disrespectful especially the top comments....it a shame what evil can come from goodness

  • Just unable comments?

Surely it would be nice if people changed, but once we sit safely behind our little screens since the internet made us safe from any harm, there's no stop for what people will say.

  • Imagine when she hears music for the first time!

  • Thank you for that much needed video! Well put, to the point...

  • good on you

  • I agree with you on your video because this is suppose to be a happy, wonderful and beautiful time for her to final hear sounds and everything around her. I can't believe people are being so rude and disrespectful about this beautiful event that she could have had by herself. I'm happy she share this with all of us in this moment. One Love

  • what were the comments? I agree with this man completely but I'd just like to know what the comments said

  • Amen !!!

  • I am so happy that you posted this. I completely agree. I paged through the comments after watching your video here and I was so applaud at what the people were talking about.

  • and.. most people are doing exactly what he's talking about, in the comments below

  • all those assholes were just inmutre kids dont let it get you made bro you and i know it was a grate day for her and thats all that matters

  • KONY 2012

  • real talk man, :p

  • Agreed.

  • Very well said and strongly agree.

  • Welcome to the internet, where socially inept people flame others for a small boost of confidence. People that can't appreciate a video like that one clearly have some sort of complex that i wouldnt even begin to understand. they obviously need some outlet to direct their stupidity.

  • YES! well said, honestly could not have said it better! I read the comments and felt exactly like you! Thank you!

  • Well said brother!

  • You should've pointed out some screen names dude!

  • @hierallesblau dude, have you ever heard of language therapy? I'm assuming you have. Anyway, what do you think hearing aids are for? They help with hearing by picking up a certain range of sound frequencies, thus, allowing the deaf to hear or the hard of hearing to hear better.

  • @hierallesblau dude, have you ever heard of language therapy? I'm assuming you have. Anyway, what do you think hearing aids are for? They help with hearing by picking up a certain range of sound frequencies, thus, allowing the deaf to hear or the hard of hearing to hear better.

  • Real talk man

  • People can understand and portray language. They can learn to speak perfectly normal without being to hear. Its a popular misconception that when you can hear yourself you cant perfect it. Language Therapy for her.whole childhood no doubt made this possible.so all you haters could go deaf for all i care, because your so far up your cynical ass that anything that you disagree with is wrong. That is all

  • Actually a lot of the bad comments came from deaf extremist. They, for whatever reason, get really upset when "their own kind" cross over into the hear world. They feel someone who is deaf should remain loyal to their roots if born deaf, that they should not get hearing devices. They can get pretty nasty when it comes to people like this lady who got an implant device. These extremist live in their own world.

  • Greattttttt, thank you!!

  • I enjoy how every troll related comment just gets shut down on this guy's upload. On a different note, thumbs up to your video. It's easier to act disrespectful behind the protection of a computer screen, and therefore, much harder to make these kind of people look like idiots. So, well done.

  • Good for u for posting this. :)

  • Well said... we will always have the youtube trolls who pour their negativity all over, hoping to incite a response which sadly gives them some satisfaction. It's best to ignore them for they are deaf to common sense

  • couldnt agree with you more

  • How is she able to speak normally? Don't people in her situation have to go to years of intense language lessons?

  • People are Crazy - Billy Currington... I'm not a country fan but I like that song.

  • THE INTERNET, you gotta take the good with the bad.....thats what the internet is, get used to it

  • i agree =))

  • Can someone just clarify it : A person who is born deaf, how is he\she able to pronounce and sound words just as 'normal' (sorry can't find alternate) as any other person without this disability for the first time ? It's not only me who is asking this question but this question is filled in the original video's comments section.

  • dude, dumb people existed and exist and will exist don't bother your self. congrat to the women and we hope she will enjoy her new life.

  • Thank you for saying what I thought after I read some of the comments of Sarah Churman's video. It is unbelievable how there are still so many people who can't simply enjoy a wonderful moment like that, a moment which Sarah Churman chose to show to the world, maybe giving even other deaf people hope.

    @legrosfleau

Read her blog and you will see how very real the video is. It is really annoying how some people can't just enjoy a beautiful moment, but must seek for something to ruin it.

  • This video makes a lot more sense than a lot of things. I don't know why, but I feel glad you said this.

  • juppp you nailed the nail on the head lol i totally like your statement its awesomeness

  • I agree with everything you say, it's disgusting! 1200 dislikes on a special moment, sick fuckers.

  • Here Here!!

  • Cont. Hearing aids provide I believe 30 to 50 frequent sounds, implant aids provide upward tp 100 out of over 200 possible frequent sounds so the implants are more of " real" sound that are coming from surround... As I mentioned I am profounded deaf, I have used hearing aids and head phone growning up. I enjoyed them but they are inconvence for me but I sometimes wd love to hear beautiful sounds coming from my four kids voices and musics.... Just input from totally deaf person s perspectives...

  • I'm totally deaf! So I'm not sure exactly what u have said on here but I think I picked up snuff comments on what u r trying to say. I live for deaf community due to of course my ASL and into deaf vlog world... I have seen how they react. I understand both side of perspectives, not that I wd accept some of the nasty comments... Hearing aid is digital so sounds that goes thru hearing aid they computerized so compare to newest tech implants that are more closer to true sounds so " real" sound for

  • I don't understand your problem. I only see positive comments under the clip of the 29year old girl and I see 74k thumps up and only 1k down.

And I can tell you why: Because the big majority doesn't know deaf people, therefore they simply believe it (as I would too). But if you know people whoa are born deaf then there is no doubt that the clip is a huge fake.

  • @hierallesblau Fake? How so? On what basis do you state that?

  • Thanks! :)

  • Sadly enough, that's youtube for you...

  • OK so you aren't mad with how the video is mixed with, but on the comments itself? Thank god you aren't a troll that thinks the video was dumb... But I agree, comment's are rude, but sadly the Internet has no rules (Maybe except Rule #34 with no exceptions ._.;)

  • @silverladderdotcom Well said Shane. I saw the video last night after RWJ shared it on his page. After watching the video I immediately did the same and shared it to my friends. Of course it started a debate on my wall when I said that the simplest things we ignore (such as our ability to hear) are those that we should be most thankful for. The internet is all things good and bad, put into a blender, and blended until smooth. It hurts to see humanity stoop this low on such a lovely video.

  • You said exactly how I feel about all the reactions as well. People are such assholes to those who don't deserve it.

  • i dont know where or who you are,

but you just gave me a boner of epicness.

  • yes yes yes! I read the comments and they were mostly negative! thank you! amen.

  • way to win internet!

  • I bet most of the people out there who give negative thoughts on that video are ignorant when it comes to being deaf. It's not impossible for someone who has never heard before, be able to learn how to talk. There are devices that aid them with pitch and tone. People, please do some simple research before posting anything negative

  • Most of the time the people that thumbs down these videos are either depressed people or kids just making themselves giggle with their friends. Every adult with life experience would appreciate this wonderful moment for the woman, that's my take.

  • For all the morons out there, she wasn't a deaf MUTE! meaning she could talk. noticed she is tone deaf and does not make a proper sounds. all you haters just need to pull your head out of your assess an find something better to bitch about. you are all morons if you think this is fake. I have known plenty of people who could speak. When you get a coclear implant, you are able to make the correct sounds that you have been taught to use, you are unable to make a proper sound until you can hear it.

  • this is such an amazing video, i couldnt agree more.

  • this is called YOU-tube, not point-and-laugh-tube, not judge-tube, its YOU-tube, where anyone should feel free to post what they want with a smile on there face, for there friends, family, and most deffinetly FOR THEMSELVES, how can people be so insensitive for other peoples feelings? is it cause you think you have immunity cause no one can see your faces on here? i got news for every YOU-tuber out there, karma can see your face and shes a bitch!

  • Well said, can't agree more.

  • i got a RE: for you man if your able to read it... the Video yo think its so wonderful it could of been until she started talking. a Person who is Born Deaf never hears never learn to make sounds and how a deaf person suddently can talk to? this is the reason why i personaly commented that the video wasnt real. despise what u think or anyone else analise the situation a little bit. Deaf ppl who are hear for the FIRST TIME in their life cannot TALK AT ALL

  • @TNTessenceTNT do you know her at all? how do you know there wasnt someone giving her help? a doctor, a new class for the deaf, a friend, a family member, i understand what you are saying but how can you make that call if you dont know her personally, in the description of the video it said hearing aids at times, maybe that was for the sound of words? all im saying is anything is possible, especially when 20 years ago people thought deaf people would never hear again, fake or real it is amazing!

  • today(dot)msnbc(dot)msn(dot)com/id/44756127/ns/today-good_news/t/deaf-woman-hears-own-voice-i-didnt-know-i-had-accent/#.To_XzJyvPeg

    You're welcome.

  • @SLNoel

Nice article, thank you. I hope people will actually read this and stop their shit about how "the video is fake".

  • I agree. It's so despicable that people are making it into an argument about this shit.. I saw one moron say something to the effect of "my sister was born deaf and she isn't able to talk and shit woman can talk so this shit is fake".. ANY IDIOT KNOWS THAT NO TWO CASES ARE THE SAME!!! This poor woman went to speech therapy and worked hard to read lips just so she could communicate with people. Let her enjoy her moment. It was a touching video, it moved me. The internet has become full of losers.

  • "Congratulations Internet; this is why we can't have nice things"

    *high five*

    The comments are somewhat abhorrent..

  • Who cares what the comments say? Those posting inappropriate things shouldn't even register on the radars of anyone that video holds value to. Words of strangers themselves cannot break "beautiful moments" unless the individuals allow it.

  • you have the same shirt i have

  • the internet is full with people who think that their opinions on things matter to other people !! -__-

  • fuck you

  • Chill bro. Rule 56, all your carefully gathered and scrutinized comments can be turned into poo. The interenet is full of people and in case you haven't noticed, people generally poo all over nice things out of hate or jealousy or fear of it. Tis human nature. Thanks for your time though

  • YOU ARE SO FLIPPIN RIGHT!! THE NEGATIVE RESPONCES ARE HORRIBLY UNCALLED FOR. I HAVE A SON WHO CAN HEAR AND BARELY HAS ANY SPEECH AT ALL DUE TO AUTISM.. I AM TOUCHED AND GREATFUL SHE AND HER HUSBAND SHARED THIS.

  • Haha dude I read those comments and your so fuckin right

  • too true matey

  • finally ! we need more people like you in the world. thanks for the video and letting all the assholes know to take their debating else where. :)

  • Did anyone catch her on Ellens show today?? That was so AWESOME!!!

  • All in good manners! I appreciate the correspondence, and value the essence of your concern. It's wonderful to see "stranger love" or I guess essentially- anti-oppressive justice!

  • unfortunately humans for the most part are assholes the germans have a word shadden froida (not the right spelling) it means taking pleasure in someones missery I'm not a real prize iether but I'm happy for her

  • I completely agree with your opinion pertaining how pure and phenomenal this moment is in this blessed woman's life, however, yours, mine, and others viewpoints are ALL viewpoints. The internet is filled with more than just AN opinion to it's own, moreover to say- you can not scrutinize the internet for the sole fact of what you love it for. Your opinion is just another opinion.

  • @Chewbaka4you I never said my opinion held any more value than anyone else's or that people weren't entitled to their opinions. What I said was that there is a time and a place to speak up, and a time when it's more mature and polite to hold your tongue. There is also a way to temper your opinion with some manners. Telling someone that their "tooth fairy god is a lie" is not it. Having the right to say something and it being the right thing to say are often two very different things.

  • @Chewbaka4you And while you disagreed with part of what I said, thank you for doing so with tact. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me, even completely. But a little bit of manners goes a very long way. I appreciate how you went about saying what you said.

  • I agree with you 100%

I was so disgusted with the comments i barely made it through the first page.

Even some of the comments on this page are completely idiotic.

This beautiful girl, now has the chance to experience something we all take for granted. Why cant we just be happy for her?

To her friends and family, thank her on my behalf for making my day a little better.

To all the assholes, I wonder what you're really like when you're not sitting anonymously behind a computer.

  • Thank you! I'm actually best friends with her cousin and the story is actually true. She was on the Today Show Monday and if Im not wrong she should be on Ellen's show tomorrow. The implants she received is very new technology (not the cochlear implants) She has had some hearing with hearing aids but could actually never hear herself.

  • i would agree with your opinion, sadly its just another publicity video for self serving purpose. Its not her moment, its a made up moment. You would know if you worked with deaf people.

That whole video is a lie and people reacting are people not liking when we try to insult our intelligence. And we find naive people like you pretty funny. Yep good canditate for sect recruitment on those channel...

  • @legrosfleau Sadly, for you, you're drunk on your own pride over your own supposed intellect. You post comments with garbage about finding "naive people like me pretty funny" when in reality, the video is real. I've spoken with enough people who know her personally to have confirmed it. Meanwhile, you come across as a snarky know-it-all with a response like what you posted. I'm all for being vigilant and not being taken by a hoax. But your level of cynicism and self-importance are just sad.

  • @legrosfleau What? Literally nothing you said makes any sense at all.

  • I agree with this. She can hear and she's happy so she showed it to the world. That's all that should matter.

  • Sorry, but you're dead wrong. There is no WAY the woman would've known what "beeping" was if she'd never heard it before in her life. She wasn't even looking at the nurse when the nurse asked "Can you hear my voice?" But yet she understood her? If she'd never heard English before in her life, how the HELL could she have known what she was saying?

I'm happy for the woman. I'm happy she can hear again....but she was NOT born deaf. Period.

  • @RayneRaven1 If you knew anything about the implants she received you would know that you have to have some sort of hearing in order to receive this type of device.. She has had hearing aids that have helped her hear since she was young. But when you have hearing aids they don't balance out sound they way our ears do. What she had put in does. She was also not able to hear her own voice or hear her thinking. And you can find her story on the Today Show that was on Monday and She will be on Ellen

  • Wow! In agreement with this video, I'll jump straight to My point... You guys are actually debating on YouTube about this? Is that what your day boils down too? I only saw this because my friend posted it on Facebook, and I saw the Original on the news. As for you idiots only looking for something to cure your boredom: To actually be able to COME UP WITH an argument for this is flabbergasting. This must be what you look forward to all day at work, "How can I hate on something Good?" Pathetic...

  • I don't see it changing, but is refreshing to hear someone speak up. It makes me cringe when I see something so moving and than the cruel trash that people post. BRAVO!!!

  • fuck everybody. He is right. If the video was about a cute kitty all the people would be like "oh,wow that's the beauty of the world!" When a girl after 29 years can listen her voice people say she is an actress, and a lot of shit like this.

you should be ashamed of yourself. And the fact is not about the right to debate, but about respect .

Now go on to watch cute kitties, jerks

  • right on man

  • I agree with you Shane 100%. But it is not the internet, it is just life. We have to take all of the good with all of the bad that's come with it.

I'll give you an example, my dad will be needing a new liver due to liver cancer soon, while cancer sucks, this is the bad. The good is when or if he gets a new liver, the good will outweigh the bad 1000000X over.

    Cheers,

  • ur so right bro i hate h8rs its just people with no lifes :-(

  • My take, if you are speaking to the skeptics out there then please allow me to respond. I will try to make it brief. As you know, with so much dishonesty in the world and in particular the internet, it is only natural to be skeptical of such a moment. The potential for being self-serving is more on Sarah Churman's side. She (and her husband) decided to post something in a public forum and so they will get the varied responses that they are getting. We are missing the context, details and all.

  • OMG People are debating on the Internet? OMG!!! The Internet has been ruined! /s

LOL. Get over it, dude. People debate all the time. This is par for the course. Did you just get on YouTube yesterday?

And yes, it *is* amazing that a deaf-since-birth person speaks perfectly the first time they can hear.

And there's nothing wrong with people pointing that out or asking tough questions. It's not even self serving. I'm sure there were worse comments as well, but there always are.

  • @Unavailable8923 So I shouldn't speak up when something wrong happens in front of me? So I should sit back and let the tactless masses insult a video that a young woman posted for friends and family to see? Nope.

Don't try to tell me about how the internet works. I've had sites on the internet since '95, owned my own domain since '99, and I've seen it all. It doesn't give people an open pass to be assholes. Have a little class. Try it sometime. Put a vid out there sometime yourself.

  • @silverladderdotcom For her family and friends? She should get herself a Facebook account if she doesn't want an honest debate to brew about here experience. If real (I still have my doubts) then I applaud her and wish her well. I understand the procedure that was done to her and I also appreciate that her degree of speech is rare for someone with her level of deafness. So, the skepticism is simply a means to shed light on a potential fraud that would try to pass off as truth. Clarity?

  • I think you're wrong

.It's her right to make or not a facebook account.

maybe you should only shut your mouth.

  • @ColonizerOfDreams Good job in proving the whole point of his video. rofl

  • @ColonizerOfDreams Good job in proving the whole point of his video. rofl

  • @Unavailable8923 And there is a huge difference between debating on the internet and people flat out insulting Sarah Churman's beliefs. It isn't that hard to figure out.

  • @Unavailable8923

    Pwned! Gogo Silverladderdotcom!

  • Dude. My thoughts exactly:) thank you, sir!

  • Sheesh, you took over a minute and a half before you could even make a point. Still not quite sure of your point.

  • @Beadwindow2020 Are you really that dense? Was his message seriously that hard for you to figure out?

  • No... People should have their say to whether this is fake or not. At first i thought this was a genuine video, then the voice of the people reminded me that deaf people definitely do not speak as well as she does. Let alone completely deaf people, look up partially deaf people speaking and see for yourself. I also became uneasy when i saw they advertised the company who made the implant in the description.

  • You call me cynical, but I see more value in being skeptical. I like to go by evidence rather than anecdotal stories. Unfortunately, the evidence points me to the opposite of what you choose to believe. You are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. As much as I believe in mutual respect, I don't believe in censorship or viewing everything solely through a positive filter. Everyone wants to be heard on the internet, as do you. Going off on a rant on certain people isn't going to help anyone.

  • Amen! Im glad someone posted a video like this! We need more ppl like you on here! :)

  • Rock on bro, people are such assholes

  • After reading just a few of the negative comments I stop reading the rest. I too was disgusted at the lack of respect!!! I share your thoughts & am proud of you for posting your video Shane!

  • Good on ya Brother!!!

  • Fantastic response. Thank you for doing this. There are plenty of places on the internet for religious debate. Sarah Churman essentially had one place to share this extraordinary and beautiful experience with us all. People need to put their beliefs aside and just appreciate it for the touching and joyful moment that it was in this young woman's life.

  • THANK YOU! It's really just so frustrating to see people debating on god or lack there of, on a video like that. Just let her have her moment.

  • You did the great great job!!! Very decent !!! :)

  • I concure

  • How good to see someone like yourself making a stand against the thoughtless idiots whose only aim in life seems to be to make others feel bad. There should be more like you

  • Well said!!

  • Right on brother! Thank you for sticking up for her.

  • Well said!! Thank you so much. These negative people have their own issues and I hate they are taking it out on my friend, Sarah. She simply posted the video on youtube to upload it to FB for Friends and Family. She never expected it to go viral like it did and it's amazing. We are praising God for this wonderful moment and I personally thank you for taking a stand to these ignorant individuals who are rude and selfish. Amen.

    -Amber

  • Thank you for posting this!!

  • Amen! Thank you for standing up for her. I think her video was amazing.

  • Kudos Shane, totally agree 1000% with your comments, the 'tube' pissin contest

cretins should pull their heads and tongues in, and just share in this beautiful

life changing moment for this girl. THANKS AGAIN Shane.

  • Thank you! She deserves to have someone stand up for the disrespect she has been getting. I shared this on facebook for our friends to see!

  • Good for you!! I went through some of the comments and started to get bad.. There are good ppl out there, focus on them forget the rest.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. This means a lot to her but it means a lot to us too.. her friends. Thank you again.

  • I totaly agree! Why are people so hateful in most Youtube and other internet forum/comment threads ?

  • @Marsek It's because you can hide behind a wall on the internet and nobody can really do anything about it.

Some comments about her speaking as well as she does are understandable (I personally think that the title is misrepresented- she has clearly heard before, just nowhere close to the same ability that you or I can), the comments that start attacking her and going into religion definitely crossed the lines.

  • I cant agree with you more! Im 17 years old and the video has really inspired me to think about getting into something that can help peoplpe in her situation.

  • I'm so glad you posted this! I was so infuriated that people turned it into a flame war.

  • What you'd expect man It's the fin internet everyone is on this shii you gotta take the good with the bad and the ugly! There's no iq test to get on. I appreciate your video for tryin to knock some sense into people!

  • Amen man, I saw some comment and I was ashamed that people could be so mean. I wont start anything but I agree with u on why we love and hate the internet. Thank u for this video. You have a big heart. I am glad I am not alone. :)

  • i'm facebooking this. this needs to be seen by everyone

  • +1

  • The comments upset me so much. Thank you for posting this!

  • Totally agree!

  • Thank you so much! This all just happened this week as well, and got posted so friends could see her reaction. But once again THANK YOU!

  • Thank you!!!
