The efforts to save the Jaguar within U.S. borders were WAY WAY too late! If they had acted 50 years ago they might have had a chance. This individual was the last wild Jaguar to exist on U.S. soil. Period!
@nick90690 Sure, in zoos! Wild Jaguars in the U.S. =0. Mexico has a small number of Jags in the north- central high desert region and a larger number in the Yucatan Peninsula.
@bombarderoazul back to AMERICA? Jaguars live in America from northern Mexico thru northern Argentina. I think you meant to say "brought back to the United States" America is a continent, not a country. Yes! Jaguars can be reintroduced to the U.S. but they wont last because they need a huge territory to move freely. The fence in the border not only affects Jaguars but small mammals, reptiles and other endangered species. An entire ecosystem affected by a man made wall.
@3lior That's why i think wild jaguars should be caught and brought to parks in the united states, and a breeding program begun, so that a native population of jaguars can sustain itself in the united states.
Jaguars would go a long ways to controlling the pig bomb that's occuring in the south.... however, jaguars are the third largest cat and would likely end up killing livestock or humans..... I don't think we should bring them to the US but if they come here on there own i'm fine with it. My brother was stationed at Ft Huachucka and one of his friends saw Jaguar in a dry river bed down there. That was 2009 i believe. MY bro himself saw a Puma on a hike out there !! Lucky !!
@rascalMatt17 It'd be wonderful if they could come on their own but there's one veeerry slight problem....have you noticed there's a fence that stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico? We all know that it was built to prevent human" migration" but it's also quite effective of keeping jaguars from migrating too. Needless to say, the only way for this magnificent cat to make a comeback is for us to intervene and physically reintroduce them back into the wild ourselves. PERIOD.
@rascalMatt17 I think we should bring them back - it is our responsibility to, as the ones who eradicated them in the first place. That they are dangerous to humans isn't an excuse for us to continue on this path. were humans to get their way, anything that could kill us would be rendered extinct in America...which means no bears, wolves, mountain lions, snakes, or even large herbivores...they were an integral part of the ecosystem-we have no right to say no-they were here first.:)
just reintroduce jaguars from central america into new mexico/texas/arizona by the hundreds. estabilish populations in big bend/santa ana in texas, organpipe/sky islands in arizona, white sands missile range in new mexico. after some years they should stabilize their populations and start to expand to other areas.
I get why Republicans want the "border fence," but they don't see it's a conservational issue by doing so. Nature isn't used to having a 1,000 mile fence cut across the land. Unducumented immigrants will find a way to cross that petty obstacle anyway, the only ones not able to cross will be the native animals such as the almost extinc Jaguar.
Isnt it a shame that these cats used to roam all over the south west now because of igorance and fear they are ini such low number. I hate to say it but this species will probally be declared extinct agian. As rare as it is for something to loose it title of extinct.
Beautiful cat. I am very much into conservation and animal rights. i want to see jaguars living in the wild of AZ & NM. Great vid, Cinco Estrallas*****
Yeah it's a shame that animals are killed by retards that want to wear their fur. hopefully the jaguar population can grow and spread back thru the south west/west.
leopards are old world big cats -- only found in Africa and parts of Asia -- their spots have one ring; jaguars are new world big cats -- larger than the leopard and only found in North and Central America -- their spots are called "rosettes" and have a ring with dots in the middle
Build the fence! Why allow one million illegals in every year just to satisfy the migration of occasional stray Jaguars hundreds of miles north of their normal range?
Of course if you want 12 million people in AZ by 2040, you can support open borders. But those 6 million new residents will put intense downward pressure on wildlife that actually has Arizona as their normal range like Pronghorn, black bear, ferret, etc. Don't miss the forest for the tree.
dude jaguars use to live in arizona new mexico california and texas before dumbasses killed them for the fur and because they were hated the same exact thing happend to the wolf and the worst case the exstint tasmanian tiger
That's great! I went to look for it there but couldn't find it. I have it in MySpace videos as well and on about 9 other sites. I hardly ever check my MySpace page though. Thanks for watching and for your support!
I'm sure wildlife officials followed their protocols but those protocols are outdated and should be revised to meet the changing reality of the times. Wonderful slide show.
you're welcome - thanks for watching! Good news is that AZ G&F is reevaluating their capture protocol as a result of this incident. And that fence ... it reminds me of the Berlin Wall. It makes no sense whatsoever.
Judy, excellent video. I was so devistated to hear that Macho B didn't survive the second capture. They should have never tried to take him in, they should have just released him right there on the spot. They already had all their data from a couple days before, when they first attached the radio collar.
Radio data showed something wrong -- he was in a trap not intended for him but they decided to take him in and check him out. Activists say they should have just let him go and are promoting a hands-off approach to studying these animals since there are so few of them.
I read that they where reports of these animals in the mountains north of los Angeles Ca

Jaguars should be brought back to america, in the same way that wolves were reintroduced. Jaguars are native to america, they should be brought back.

@agricola That wasn't the point. I'm just saying Mexicans aren't the only immigrants here.

Someone needs to tear down that stupid Israeli built border wall. How the hell can they migrate now with the walls going up?
