This is the second Sean Lennon song in a role I've listend to on Youtube and what strikes me, other than the fact that the two songs sound exactly alike -other than one being in English and the other in French - is that he's trying really, really hard. You'd think a guy with a head start who didn't have to struggle to get into a studio would have the time to write a decent song or two. Shows that your parent's big names don't necessarily give you any talent or anything other than a head start.

@MrDukemeister - If the songs sound the same, they might be two versions of the same song (in this case "Parachute" is the original of "L'eclipse"), also judging by two songs what the singer/songwriter is all about doesn't make you a very bright person. I think that Sean didn't have a head start, I think that he had to try really hard to shake off the pesky record companies who wanted to make him the copy of his father. He made it on his own and he's cool.

If you read what I wrote carefully, you would have realized that all SEAN LENNON songs sound the same, not just cover songs he's ripping off. And secondly, Sean Lennon has never really "made it." Most musicians have to pay to record in a studio, and Sean's got a lot of daddy's money. And if your dad's a Beatle and you don't have that much talent, you shouldn't pursue a music career. With his money, Sean could have gone to medical school, law school, dental school, or done philanthropy.

As for Sean Lennon, he's neither financially or musically sucessful, he's just untalented. If my dad was a dead, beloved, pop musician, I would shed the limelight and inevitable comparison by using the old man's money to do something vastly different and noble. He could have helped starving African kids or worked with inner city mothers. He's delusional.

What can I say? In a perfect world you would be king and decide who can and can't make music and then you would have only musicians and singers that you like. Oh no, I respect Sean's right to make "music," no matter how questionable it is. And you're right, I don't have to listen. However, I have a common trait I share with many others: I have a morbid curiosity for the bad. And John did pop music; "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" a good example. Unlike his son, though, John progressed in his musical development and contributed some serious rock music to the nomencature. Hard to believe that he did it in 40 yrs. I think that what makes any art popular, whether it's music, movies, tv, or any other art form, is whether there's a simple story to it. Once you get into art music, art film, or avant garde, is that style is priortized over substance. I don't care how many other people are listening - make it pop all you want. John Lennon was a great storyteller, and as he got older his storytelling evolved. Sean, on the other hand, seems to value style over style, which is a shame. He's trying too hard.
