  • I assume that your complaint is with the misrepresentation of the facts from the government and media, and not with the 'current' state of affairs where age discrimination over 65 is allowed.

In fact the Freedom Party of Ontario is absolutely in support of PRIVATE businesses hiring/firing on any number of discriminatory practices (ageism, sexism, racism) no matter how logical. Correct?

These ideas going hand in hand with liberty and freedom of property.

  • My objection was to the fact that the government and media pretended that there was a law requiring people to retire at age 65. There was no such law. Rather, there was a provision in Ontario's Human Rights Code that said, in effect, that age discrimination is not discrimination if the person discriminated against is aged 65 or over. What the government really did was not to "end mandatory retirement" but to "extend the prohibition against age discrimination" to all ages...(cont'd)

  • (cont'd)...thus, people aged 65 or over who, because of their age, are discriminated against, can now bring a complaint against the person who has discriminated against them.

Freedom Party has no current proposal to change Ontario's human rights laws: other matters are, in practice, more pressing. That said, the "rights" created by the Human Rights Code are not philosophically sound, and are entirely impractical for the purposes of ending irrational discrimination.

  • Understood. I guess I was creating more of a philosophical inquiry then political. I have no understanding of how the Canadian local/provincial/federal governments work. Who has what power and whatnot, but I understand there are issues which your party would have no power over (like marijuana use I saw in another video), or at the very least is too far down the list of practical platforms to be a discussion at this point.

Thanks for the response, and I am rooting for you!

  • This is laughable , but for Canada , it's normal and will be laughed at Internationally very soon. Who would collect money from an X employer for having been "ripped off" where these (day to day) proceedings are concerned , and then say " I really was only speaking hypothetically". This is Canada , the NEW WORLD ORDER OF CANADA AND WE SAW IT A VERY LONG TIME AGO. And blasted it with everything we had , only to be told to butt out.

  • There is absolutely nothing practical about our governments forming what amount to "agencies" , for their own future benefit. If you have ever dealt with them in Toronto or whereever , you will find out they spend more time argueing the points and attempting to bias the situation or completely ignore it , than they do welcoming the applicable proposals. They have done these things for their own use , but won't admit it. Retirement ? IN ONTARIO ?

  • First of all , you need to cut the crap about how you have accumulated some valueable knowledge with regards to anything Ontario proposes about things pertaining to employers in Ontario & the current legislated law or practice. I say practice because that's about all it is. Ontario will not own up to it. When you call , write or speak to people who are employed through these scams , you are immediately welcomed with some lazy excuses to convince you to do otherwise.
